  • Sherlock

We went to see Sherlock Holmes today. I had really been looking forward to it. And I was not disappointed at all!  There was not too much gore, although I shut my eyes during the boxing scene and winced a few times throughout. There was not a lot of sex or anything, but the premise was that there was a cult of black magic in England and this guy supposedly returned from the dead. So, you get pentagram pictures and stuff in the mystery.

And now, I am going to tuck Little Miss into bed on this blustery night and watch a movie with TGD (who went to a wrestling match instead of going to see the movie).

Stay warm! It’s COLD out there! (Unless you don’t live in PA. Then it might be toasty!)

See, another blog. Two in a row. Go, me!

What movies have you seen lately that you’d recommend?

  • Robert saw SH with his dad over Christmas and said he didn’t like it, but if you liked it then I probably will!  I would actually recommend Avatar, we saw it on our anniversary, if you can get past the incorrect spirtuality you will really love the personal stories of the characters.  One movie that we said sadly had to say no to was the Princess and the Frog, the reviews I read stated their was a heavy “black magic” theme in the film.  It wasn’t something I could really feel good about letting Brie see, bummer!

  • Jonathan and I really enjoyed “Juno.” I think you would like it, especially since you have teenagers.

  • Harold and Maude. It’s an older film, but I found it to be titillating. It’s interesting, has a bit of wit to it, and it’s funny.
Although some people never really liked it because it was…well, out there. But I recommend it. ^_^

  • I also just saw Juno, I checked it out from the library. It’s pretty funny, but also serious at times.

  • My favorite all time movies…

    “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”

    “Adam’s Rib”

    “Philidelphia Story”

    “Braveheart”

    “Friendly Persuasion”

the new “Sweeny Todd” with Johnny Depp

    “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”

“Idiocracy” (don’t think you would care for this one)

    “The Lion in Winter”

    “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium”

    “Princess Bride”

    Anything Hitchcock

I should stop now!  I could go on and on, and I haven’t even gotten to musicals yet!

  • I tried to watch The Young Victoria tonight, but I got to the theater too late so I’m going to watch it later this week.  I know you asked which movie we’ve seen, but the trailer is really interesting, and it’s a period-piece.  It’s about Queen Victoria…

  • I need some good suggestions. Thanks! DH and I are still trying to get out and see Blind Side before it leaves the theaters.

  • YES!!!! GO YOU!!! Two whole blogs. You rock!!!

I went to the movies Friday night and was SOOOO enjoying all the previews and trailers!! There are some good romantic comedies coming up. :) ) My sis and I laughed so hard through the previews that we felt like we had got our money worth before the movie started. ;)

I rec’d your Christmas Card last week. Thank you. ;) Cass

  • I loved Sherlock Holmes. I saw it twice. I’d recommend Avatar. It was really good. It kept my attention for the whole three hours, which is saying something. It’s been called the Star Wars of this generation, and rightly so!
Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakqal was really good, too, though I have to say, it wasn’t as good as the original. Still adorable, though.

  • We thought we would like to see Sherlock until we saw a different preview which had scantily dressed people in it.  That made us not too sure.  So we haven’t seen it.

And it’s even colder in NY.  lol  Especially with all the wind & snow blowing yesterday.

  • Have you seen New in Town? A cheesy chick flick, but we loved the stereotypes of the Minnesotans. I assume Sherlock was quite a departure from Doyle’s creation?

  • I felt a little creepy when they showed the book of spells, and wondered afterward if I should have looked at the writing.  I admit I was curious since it was part of the movie, and assumed that it was just a prop, but later I thought it wouldn’t have been too difficult to get a real book used in occult practices, in which case I should have averted my eyes.  I regret that.
