Does Tinkerbell Have Fairy Paint?
I wish the Painting Fairy would come and finish this porch for me. Today, the UPS guy came and said, “You’re STILL painting?”
I conscripted Little Miss (who was insanely eager to help) and Gockle (not so much) to work with me today. After about seven minutes, Gockle actually stamped his foot at me and said, “No more!” (to which I said, “Great, you can go straight to bed after football practice.”) Little Miss lasted about 20 minutes before she had a meltdown.
Tonight is Youth Group. I wish I had told all of them to pack painting clothes. We’d have this porch done in no time.
Oh, and I discovered that it will take two coats in addition to the primer. Sigh.
Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence in your faith (or painting!) supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brother kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

I vote for a repetition of youth group, replete with brushes.
Seriously…maybe you should consider that youth work day. Wouldn’t it be great to get it all done?
You much get a lot of UPS packages.
Yikes! How very frustrating!!!
I would be happy to help you today, sans foot stamping and meltdowns. I think you are doing a great job on the porch. Love!

I actually don’t get that many UPS, which is what made it all the stranger.
((((((((sympathy)))))))))))
It’s dangerous to get a lot of teens together with something permanent such as house paint. It still might be worth it. You could have something like a barn raising, only its a porch painting… I sympathize. I found that one of the biggest problems with those projects is that you are never able to devote enough focused attention to them at one time. People still want clean clothes, appointments kept, shopping and dinner made – perhaps if you could get a book on tape and three days without other responsibilities? I painted our porch railing a few years ago. I wanted a more traditional look and went from redwood stain to white. Oh my, there is a lot of surface area and tight spots on a porch railing! I was about ready to saw the handle of a paint brush to get to them. I think my porch railing was much shorter than yours, too.
Thanks for the recipe! Zucchini lazagne is a great idea!
Having painted many rooms of an old house, I do know what you face. Having NOT painted all of them, I am in no place to give advice — which is precisely why I am going to give you some now. Where’s the fun in life if we can’t poke at ourselves and give advice where we’re not qualified to do it?
How about setting up an incentive program for yourself and anyone else who helps? What kind of reward would be worth working towards? We also found that some new music playing — yes, when working outside the house — kept our bodies moving, too. And plenty of tasty snacks. We liked to get the party atmosphere going whenever we could!
Bless you.
2 coats and a primer?! That sounds like a lot of work… I’m going to need to paint part of our house pretty soon too, and I’m not looking forward to it. I think the youth group should be given the “opportunity” to volunteer to paint- they could save you some sore muscles if they were good helpers.
Did you finish painting yet? =D

YES! Just yesterday. I’ll have to write about it.
