  • High Time

First of all, thank you to everyone who sent me mail at camp. It was the best week at camp I’d ever had, and I was sad to see it end. Speaking of ends, yesterday, I finished the supplemental book for the algebra lecture series. It is wonderful to be done!  Now, I can concentrate on getting things ready for the AP Language class–like syllabus, setting up my website, and picking a start date for the class. Just little things like that.

It’s raining buckets again today (thankfully, not in the literal sense).  It rained Wednesday, and all my pool towels got sopping wet as they were on the deck railing. Yesterday, it was sunny, and I let them dry all day, foolishly not checking the weather for today. Oh, well.

Since the weather is so lousy, I’m taking my crew to the $1 theater to see Night at the Museum 2.  After that, I’m heading to Sears to take up my cause with my horrible washing machine. I’ve had it 4 years. I’ve had nothing but problems with it, and now it rips up my clothes–shreds them or puts little holes in them–all the time. I’ve been complaining for 3 weeks that I want something to be done about it, and the woman at Sears said, “24 hours. I will get back to you.”  How many phone calls do I have to make?  I just don’t have the money to replace $40 a week of clothes this washer ruins! And I wonder to myself, “Why have I let this go on so long?”

What thing in your life has just gone on too long?

  • I feel your pain about the washing machine. I just hate that kind of customer “service.” Glad you had a great time at camp!

  • I feel so bad now that we broke your last one, otherwise you wouldn’t have had to purchase this one.  We’ve had great success with our Fridgedare front loading washer, if you end up getting a new one I would highly reccomend it.

  • I hope it works out at Sears! They’ve taken over 8 weeks to order parts for my sisters Eliptical……

    I think you’ve deserved a day at the theatre! :) And the $1 can’t be beat !

You broke our washer? When? I don’t remember that at all. I don’t even remember the circumstances around our getting this washer, but I truly don’t think it had anything to do with you guys.

  • When you’ve finished the AP Language Syllabus, could you be so kind as to send me the book list if you’ve changed it from… goodness! is it really four years ago? I’ve found I like the books you recommend, so I would like to see if there’s any I haven’t read. :)

Sorry to disappoint. I’m not changing it at all! But, I’d be glad to give you a book list. Anything by Annie Dillard is usually good.

  • Oh good you don’t remember!  As I recall while your family went to SA and we lived with you for 6 weeks (thanks again by the way).  We used your washing machine a few weeks into your trip it stopped draining water.  Rob dumped the water out via buckets and we stopped using it.  When yous guys returned James did a little research and bought a part. Then while the rest of us sat around and played Settler’s, James fixed the washer (I remember him being so proud).  Of course I think a few months or maybe even weeks later it broke again and you went out and bought a new one.

Ones memory is a funny thing…I can remember exact details of events and conversations verbatum, but the name of the resturant I loved in State College not a clue.

Then I shall be off to the library tomorrow to see if there are any Annie Dillard books. :)

    Didn’t you love The Tavern?

  • Hey, I miss you. Are you planning a unit on Oklahoma this semester? I think it has been FAR TOO LONG since we have seen each other. There.

  • Yay an update.  Boo on the washer - you’ve had quite a time with that.  Glad to see Little Miss last night.

  • Is that the lovely front-loading machine that I coveted so much? Oh dear!

For me, it is the dryer–such a lovely tumbling noise–of the drum tumbling! I’m actually not sure what is wrong with it yet–maybe a bearing?

  • Wow. Done with Algebra, on to AP Language. You are a gifted lady! Get some rest too!
