  • Rhyme Revisited

    The cat is just fine
    In his “neutral” state.
    And is spending the night
At the vet, which is great.

    The Mo Valley nurse called.
    “Lockjaw?” said she.
    Thankfully for Hunter,
    It runs in the family.

    We got a phone call
    From Hunter who said,
    “I made regionals!
    And what a lousy bed.”

    What a treat for dinner–
    Denny’s and fries.
    And now there’s a movie
    To keep us cozily inside.

    It’s frigid and freezing
    With blustery snow.
    I’m very glad tonight
    We have nowhere to go.

    We’re hoping for an extra
    Two hours of rest.
    School delays really
    Are one of the best!

(PS–It’s not lockjaw like the stuff for which you get a tetanus shot. It’s that his jaw keeps locking and popping. I have a similar problem which manifests itself when I am tired and have talked a lot. It’s not really too painful, but it is annoying–especially if one is at a three-day intensive choir festival.)

  • You are getting to be quite the poet, lady!    Lockjaw????  huh?

  • Yeah, wondering about that lockjaw one….enjoy your snow!

  • Ah!  I see!  My sister has that problem.

  • Is that TJS or some letters like that?  I had a student with some jaw disorder and I was never clear on exactly what it was.

  • I like the poem! :)

  • Yay for Hunter’s victory! Keep warm!

  • Sure am enjoying the prime rhyme time!  Dennys and fries sounds great…I love fries…one of my weaknesses.  Gee, I will keep the lockjaw in prayer.  Sadly, the people who *need* lockjaw never get it, and the ones who are the last people on the face of the earth to *need* it, get it.  Sigh.

….so what enchanting movie is or has kept/keeping you cozily inside?

  • @TheCookiePeople -

Episodes of the TV show Chuck on DVD. I don’t make time to watch TV, but I do love that show!

  • I like reading about your life in rhyme, but I wouldn’t think making couplets about lockjaw was taking it seriously enough, so glad you explained it in prose. So, how cold is it?

  • Loving the rappin’ and rhyming!

RYC- I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.  We are struggling a bit financially, but I think we will be okay.  I would love prayer for the energy, and time managment, to get everything done.

I hope the jaw gets back to normal soon.  bad timing on that aye?

  • I love your rhyming poem updates on your life!

  • Nope; I deliberately deleted no comments. I would only do that if I suspected you of cheating and reading the answers, which I of course do not.

  • I like the poem.. :) Just stopping by to say HI, long time no see.. I sure do miss reading your posting.. Hope all is well with you and your family.

  • I love the poem.  You know–coming here always places a smile on my face.  Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and your wit with us.
