  • Snow Bunny

Ah, finally. The snow is to arrive–ten inches or so. And, it’s just in time, for tomorrow, I take to the slopes to spend 12 hours or so chaperoning a Youth Group snow tubing day.  One of the leaders thought perhaps we ought to consider canceling the outing because of the snow (we do have to drive to get to the ski slopes!), but that was too ironic.

That request reminded me of my senior year of high school when the ski club was set to go on a trip to Killington, VT. (Quite a drive from central PA)  The trip had to be postponed due to wild storms. But, a few days later, we finally got there. Wow. I had never skied in 15 inches of powder before. (Actually, not so easy for a blue square girl like me)  What an amazing trip it turned out to be.

Not my picture, but this is part of Kilington

I am not anticipating that Tussey Mountain will provide the same level of thrills as a several day overnight trip to Vermont was for my high school self. Even though there will be free pizza.

What are you up to this weekend?

  • Oh I bet this will be fun! Have a save trip and come back in one piece! :) When I read about the places, I was wondering where in England they are located. lol Duh, I keep forgetting that you are back.

I’m up to preparing a lesson and writing a paper. On Sunday I’m going to see a live comedy show.

  • Ah, snow up there will mean my son is working tomorrow, shoveling and de-icing. I’ll be very surprised if we get any!

  • What are you up to this weekend?

    Work! Bleh!

Have fun and God bless you Mary.

  • Ooh, that’s pretty! Too cold for me, but pretty. And I love your snowfall. How did you do that?

This weekend? What else… more football!

  • Trying to decide whether or not we should cancel our Jane Austen ball down by Pittsburgh or not!!

  • I’ll be catching up on all the work I need to do to get ready for the start of the Penn State spring semester on Monday. I have LOTS to do. I hope you guys really enjoy your tubing day!!!

  • Have a great time. I hate cold, so you go do your thing   My weekend is very mundane…home alone with a substantial to-do list. Still, I’m enjoying the peace and quiet. Just not enjoying the fact that my to-do list is not getting much crossed off…the items seem to be ongoing things like undecorating the house, laundry, and reading all my subs. I hope they’ll all be crossed off by Sunday afternoon.

  • Yesterday we were in the 60′s  and today our high is expected to be 35°F.  Our winter has been like this for weeks now.  Last Sunday we almost reached 80°F !  Then Monday we never got out of the 30′s.  I feel like a yoyo.

So far this weekend I stayed in bed way too late.

  • True that. It gets even better in their earliest form (in sleeping beauty, for example, the Prince essentially rapes the comatose Aurora)

  • Well, we got about three of those ten inches…lol, I hope you guys got the remaining seven.  That way, I feel okay in my heart about who actually got my snow.  Ha ha!

Hope your tubing day was fabulous:  I thought about you all day long, and prayed for all of your safety.  Ummmm free pizza – good deal!

…..have you ever eaten “white pizza” …oh I love it.  That’s what came to mind when you mentioned pizza.  I guess that’s what you get when you combine pizza and snow…white pizza.  Ha.  Okay, the comedian is off to get ready for church.  Got up a tad late this morning and am a smidge behind schedule but it’s all good because it is Sunday and the schedule for today primarily consists of giving praise to and worshipping the Lord!  :)   Hugs!

  • Do be careful, all of you.  In my brother’s town, a youth group chaperone was killed  because she hit her head while the tube was spinning and sliding.

  • @mamaglop -

    @TheCookiePeople -

Yikes! Someone was killed? That’s horrible. I do appreciate the prayers. We saw two people taken away in strecher things with neck braces. The real problem was that under the snow we got (6 inches?) it was solid, solid ice. One lady just fell walking to the tubing place. One kid just stood at the bottom of the tubing hill, staring in the opposite direction, and he got hit by a tube coming down and fell flat on his back on his head. Ouch!

  • @TeacherPerson - That would, unfortunately have been me.  The standing and staring in opposite direction and then getting whammed by a tube.  Hmmmm yeah I think you had better stay the chaperone and I will provide either the free pizza or cookies and cocoa!

  • I can’t even remember how long it’s been since I saw that much snow, probably five years at least.

I went home for Christmas and saw some of my friends over break. The break didn’t seem long enough (it never does, ha ha) because we’re starting again tomorrow.

  • We went skiing after New Year’s and a big storm came through the day after we left. While it was nice to miss the road conditions, some more powder would have been awesome, not 15 inches (I’m not in that good of shape right now!) but a couple would have been great. Enjoy the sledding trip and safe journey!

  • I love the picture.  I am hoping that we finally get some snow here….I’m odd….I know :)
