    Thankful for Those Fuzzy Jammies

How was your Thanksgiving? I suppose it’s a bit late in the season to be asking. I love Thanksgiving. More correctly, I love Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, noodles…aah.  And, Thanksgiving is the one holiday that I enjoy hosting.

The past few years, we have gone to my brother and sister-in-law’s, which was much fun, but this year, the kids wanted to stay home. Plus, as I already mentioned, I do love to host Thanksgiving!

My mom, PapaJohn, and Grammy Norris joined us for our lunchtime meal. The kids worked hard cleaning, baking, and generally being useful, so Thursday was quite stress and mess free.  I was really happy that we had carried up all my beautiful Christmas china to use. Many Christmases ago, my mom got me a full set of 12 dishes plus all the accessories. They have been sitting in my basement, virtually unused since. But, no longer! We moved my wedding china (used zero times since we moved to PA eight years ago) from the china cabinet to the basement and moved the Christmas china in!

After gorging ourselves and drinking sparkling cider out of fruit cups (which do look an awful lot like miniature goblets), my mom pulled out a beautifully-wrapped box–my birthday presents! (The fun just never stops around here.)  She gave me a cute, miniature nativity set (another thing I collect) and the most wonderful fuzzy pajamas and robe!  I love them.

I am currently wearing those soft things. I think they are magic pajamas. The other day, I was struggling with this cold and thought I’d just like to curl up forever.  I put on my jammies and robe, and after just a half an hour in their snugly goodness, my misery was gone! Magic indeed.

Do you have some magic clothes, too?

  • I love the color of your dining room! It looks very much like the color of my kitchen. I can’t think of any magic clothes, but I have a wonderful, soft, cozy, pretty, gigantic blanket that always makes everything better. :)

  • I had turkey, although I would rather have had stuffed manicotti.

It was my birthday and I should have spoken up, but mom was just so gung ho about turkey…

  • Well, my jammies are my magic clothes, too, although I like to refer to them as “lounge wear.” That way I can wear them during the day and it’s okay. My jammies are really just flannel bottoms and a t-shirt. I just bought some solid color flannel bottoms so that they look more like lounge wear than jammies. Then it’s really okay that I wear them during the day.

  • Wow. I do not have magic clothes, but I have noticed new sweatshirts and sweat pants and new socks have great power to feel soft and good.  I love to put on any of those things new.  One or two washes and the bloom is gone.

We hosted a relatively stress free Thanksgiving here, and I enjoyed it.  We decided not to have all the traditional dishes and go with stuffing, broccoli and potatoes for side dishes.  Peach Blossom makes the best mashed potatoes. I could make a meal of them.

Of course we had turkey. We really like turkey.  My German foreign exchange student and never seen a roasted turkey and took a picture of it the year she was here for Thanksgiving.
