Um, So Where Have You Been, Exactly?
Hello! Did you miss me? Probably not, but here I am again anyhow. Since it’s been a bit, weeks even, I’ll give you the main bits in bold, and if you want to read more, feel free!
1. The Dog is Gone
Yes, we finally came to the decision as a family that we really weren’t dog people. We didn’t enjoy the dog, and it was time to face that fact. So, a week ago today, I took her back to the shelter where we got her. (It was required to return her there in the adoption paperwork we signed.) I have been rejoicing every day–seriously–that we no longer have a dog. AMEN!
2. It’s Time for a Road Trip
Tomorrow (Friday) LibbyK, Little Miss, and I are going to head out to Ohio to visit two dear families, the U’s and the H’s. Between the three moms, we have 20 children and one on the way (not mine, H’s!) The ladies are wonderful friends, and it will be such a treat to spend my special Sunday with them. (Why is this Sunday special? I’ll let you know in the next entry!)
3. Did Someone Say “Drive”?
Did you ever hear the song Drive by The Cars? (Yes, stupid, ironic name.) I always think it is one of the saddest songs that I really like. But, that has absolutely nothing to do with my #3. If you were wondering what I’ve been up to, I’ve been driving around a lot. I think it is my best skill, organizing schedules and ferrying people around.
Speaking of driving, Hunter got his license last Thursday. Oooh, boy! Another driver in the house. So far, I don’t know that he’s done any solo driving. As he said, “It stinks when you get your license in the winter.” Stupid icy roads and paranoid parents. Sheesh.
4. Um…
For all that I’ve been gone, I just don’t feel as if there is much more to say. Shall I tell you that I have rediscovered a love for Shake and Bake pork chops? That it has snowed a dusting a few times so far? That I’ve been reading a lot of books and wishing I would make/find the time to write a book of my own? That I really love Archer Farms Organic Fruit Strips from Target? That they NO LONGER CARRY JAX cheese twists at any store in my area despite months of pleading with them to please please please please stock them? That almost every time I eat sugar in the morning, I get queasy? (Unless the sugar is in the form of chocolate chip cookies. Then, I’m fine.)
As you know, I’ve not been around Xanga reading blogs and commenting. Can you let me know your highlights from the past two weeks?
Comments (15)
I missed your pithy wit!
Glad that you’re so relieved about the dog, although we already knew from your Facebook posts that it was gone! I have been wondering about that queasy in the morning thing.
Just sugar, eeh? I guess the good news is that you can feel free to enjoy the chocolate chip cookies!!
I’ve been wondering something for a while now…do you hate it when people leave misspelled or gramatically incorrect comments on your site? I always feel such pressure to write well when I comment here, which I’m sure stresses me out enough to make lots of mistakes. Oh well.
Well, I hope you have a great time in OH with the U’s and the H’s. But please know that you will be missed as well.
I know what Sunday is.
My last two weeks has consisted of homework, projects, and I had a concert last night. 24 units is a bit much to think of much else.
Like you, I haven’t been around here much! Sorry to hear about the loss of the Jaxs, I know that was a heartbreaker! We have been busy, had the flu, working two jobs, one getting weird, hubby out of town and never having a moment to breathe. Pretty much the highlights there! Glad you’re back, I missed you!
No Jax is truly sad.
Glad you could make a decision as a family that you are not dog people. Shake ‘N Bake…and I helped! lol! Mmmmm! Highlights here? Getting ready for Thanksgiving…and decided we will do a “big” T-giving and Christmas will be WAY more casual. No more back to back hosting these holiday dinners. I’ve put my foot down.
And *I* feel better. I am not Martha Stewart. I’m not even her distant cousin!
Of course you were missed here! Better let your son do some winter driving, otherwise he will never really learn it.
congratulations for the new driver, and i agree with nattata’s comment: let him get some practice at least, maybe in a parking lot at first. my parents didn’t let me drive alone for the first three winters i had my license, and i think that was a bit overprotective (although, in their defense, we only had one car, so if i wrecked it……). i just talked to my daughter about a friend who got her permit in april and her license in october, and commented how she had had no experience with snow or ice, and i hope she does ok. since our daughter just got her permit a few weeks ago, we’ll be sure to get some time in with the yucky stuff before she gets her license.
let’s see, the past two weeks (and yes, we missed you on xanga- and i don’t do facebook yet)…..mostly life as normal, took my son-in-law to hershey med for a 24 hr ambulatory eeg test (one day up to put the wires on, one day back to take them off), took my daughter to work and picked her up again, did the usual housework and laundry, supervised homeschooling, did our homeschool co-op. umm, i don’t think there was anything special. oh, i went to a flute clinic- saw some different flutes, listened to a clinician talk about different aspects of fluting, participated in a “master class” where they give you help on specific areas of your own playing. i can’t think of anything else.
Yes, I did miss you! It’s good to know what’s happening with you. Nothing much with me, I guess!
So, you were fueled by Jax Cheese Twist…and you’ve ran out of fuel and therefore you don’t have the energy to blog. I think I see the need to start a Jax Cheese Twist Drive and have all of america ship you cheese twist. That would make you and me cheesy! (grin)
I was wondering what you had been up to. So glad that you’ve graced us with your update.
Well, I’m sorry that the doggy didn’t work out for you….I’ve had pets like that…in fact our Dalmation was stolen from our back yard…..and I didn’t make a huge fuss about tracking down the thief. (sigh) I thought of it more as a blessing…and was expecting for them to bring her back anyday!!! LOL.
I may be leaving for Ohio next Wednesday…..what part will you be in…..I’m seeing the opportunity for a roadside lunch meeting…….
My Highlights…..Um…I’m hosting a KAH Winter Tea tomorrow….The kids will be in the Christmas parade this upcoming Tuesday (yes, our town has stupidly scheduled the Christmas parade BEFORE Thanksgiving.) Not much else…life as normal.
Highlights..hmm…
Kevin finished his Eagle Scout project! His license is coming soon. (2 milestones in a row!)
I have a week off from school. Yay!
Get to see pregnant-Katie next week for Thanksgiving – double Yay!
Have a fun and safe trip
Hugs,
Renee
Good to hear from you. I was just musing about you the other day, wondering why the absence. Sounds like all is well in your universe, except for the JAX.
Wondered where you were! But I wasn’t around much either, or I would have gone looking for you.
Nothing much new up here–except that we have an abundance of snow!
Me too, I want to write a book/s/. Twenty one children and three moms? Someone is not holding up her end very well… Thats a lot of kids. It was great to hear from you and I am glad you are happier.
Congratulations to Hunter.
Sugar in the morning, huh? Interesting. How about protein?
I shudder at the thought of my oldest getting his license in few years.. I wish he would stay young.. He is always so quick to volunteer to drive my car to move my car to a different position.. He is only 13 yrs old!!
I love, love, LOVE shake and bake pork chopped. It is really yummy!!
