  •  Ah, Such Choices (now with pictures!)

What would you like to do today?

    A) Go for a walk in the gorgeous sunshine surrounded by glorious fall leaves?

    B) Pick SIXTEEN non-embedded ticks off your dog? (“Mom! The dog is covered in little spider things!”)
EDIT–the count is up to 20 or 21 now.

I’m SURE I can find some ticks in here!

    C) Spend a pleasant day with your youngest child including getting her picture taken, a big soda at Sheetz, and more?

    D) Watch a cat literally run under the back tires of the truck in front of you and then ask the lady who was singing as she swept her driveway if that kitty was hers? (And it was. And it was dead, poor thing. But not bloody.)

    E) All of the above.

Maybe you have different choices for this quiz? Perhaps by the end of the day, I will too. And I should have some pictures, too.  But not of the poor kitty.

  • I would think pics of the walk would be wonderful.

  • Frontline (or maybe advantage) will totally keep all bugs off your dog.  We have used it on the cats forever- well in flea season. Fleas make me suicidal.

Love the walk idea, not big on soda, but a pleasant day out sounds nice.  I’ll go with no on the kitty thing.

    Our list is:

1)Run 20,000 errands for work and home.

2)Finish “Hound of the Baskervilles” with kids

    3)Bake berry cobbler

4)Do project for work while kids do Math

  • My goal for the day is to stay out of the winds and get schooling and housework done.

Sounds like I’d take A and C if I had a choice in your day.

I’m so sorry about the kitty. How heartbreaking for you and the singing lady. I would love to see the pictures of the walk (not the ticks though –eww)

  • Definitely A. I dont think it would be fun to pick off fleas or to watch a cat going around a tire.

  • So sorry to hear about the kitty….aw, that’s rough.  And ticks are indeed nasty.  When we lived out in west Texas, the dogs had ticks in their ears the size of our pinky-tips.  Boy am I ever glad I don’t have to look at that anymore…talk about “ugh!”  But I suppose the bluebonnets and flowering cactuses made up for the Texas sized ticks.

I’d love to go on a walk admiring the glorious leaves…Lordwilling in fact, I plan to do just that this coming Saturday.  A seven mile hike through a state park with a friend, (I am supplying the picnic luncheon) (and snacks :) a quick (and I do mean quick because I don’t want to waste a nice day) spin through WalMart, and then some cemetery-ing.

I don’t drink soda, but if I were with ya and we stopped at Sheetz, I would most likely get a latte’ kind of coffee without the whipped cream.  I’d gladly treat both you and the just- got-her-picture-taken youngster to your sodas too.  :)

Well any-o-how, I hope you still have some gorgeous sunshine to enjoy…bask in it, my friend.  Have a blessed rest of your day.

  • Choice A sounds lovely. I’d go for doing just about anything today, though, if I could feel better. How ironic is it that on one of the nicest fall days we’re going to have, I’m inside nursing my first cold of the season. Ah well, at least Snincr and Sweet Pea will have some fun tonight at their parent-child swim class.

  • I would love to skip work, spend the day at the mall and shop till I drop, lol.

    God bless you Mary!

  • I’d choose a) from your list. My list–if I had a choice would include a)walk, b)cross-stitch with no worries about money, housework or meals, and c)declutter this house–if only I had the energy!

Just taking a break from going through the summer/winter clothes. Gotta get back to it–ugh!

  • @ElizabethDNB -

We do use Frontline on all the animals. We have picked about 10 engorged ticks off the cat, and I’m up to 20 now with the dog.

  • @TeacherPerson - Oh I’m sorry.  I will shut my know it all mouth then!  LOL!  Maybe it was advantage that works so well.  I switch around.

  • man ,what a day!

  • @ElizabethDNB -

No, my mom told me that her vet said Frontline is really only 60% effective on ticks. She’s picking them off her cat like mad, too.

  • Lovely pics.
I can’t believe you have all those ticks and are using Frontline Pro Spot. We’ve found it to be pretty effective. I hope the pluses for having the pooch are outweighing the minuses!

  • Love the pics.  Love you.  Have a good night and may all your dreams be tic free!

  • Sweet pics!  I said pics, not ticks  :)

  • “B” happened to me once, except the ticks were on me. It was awful, to say the least. Most of them didn’t bite me, but it irritated my skin and there was swelling and everything. It happened because I was watering flowers . . .

  • Hey, Teacherperson.. I miss ya, been a while since I have stop by.. But nothing less I’m here now and making my footprint. :)

Ohh I love FALL pictures or scenery. I wish I had that look down here. I remember when I went to NY for college. I was in awe of all those trees turning into orange/red/yellow colors. It was so breathtaking I ever seen.

  • Oh Mary ! I LOVE your pics !!!! And I want to do everything you suggest… Except the fact that I have no children yet ! lol Talking about that, she really looks like you ! Love that pic, you’re cute together ! Have a wonderful day ! :o )

  • I love the pictures of the fall leaves you have. They are gorgeous! And it looks like Little Miss is having a wonderful time. I can almost hear her giggle in the picture :)

  • Ooh- I hate ticks!  Yucky!  Be especially careful if you live in one of those areas with the ticks that cause Lyme Disease.

And sorry about having to see that poor kitty’s last moments- how awful.

The rest of your day sounded nice though.

  • It would be nice to be able to get outside more often than I do.  It’s hard when you work all day.

  • Hi, I’ve noticed you seem a bit overwhelmed by your new pet. I’ve just been reading two books by Cesar Millan (AKA the dog whisperer) and he has some great tips on training/behavior/leadership! You might really learn a lot from his books and TV program or website! I just went to my library and they had DVD’s and books right there! Try it, it may help you and your new dog to get along better. :)

  • Aaw! I’m so sorry about the kitty…that’s sad for the lady, but hard for you guys too.

Ticks. Hate em. When I lived in Okinawa, I bought a  pair of tweezers just for the dog. I can’t stand the thought of touching them. Do you use Frontline or Revolution to ward them off your dog? It’s well worth the cost. Limes disease is expensive in dogs too (my parents’ dog has it).

  • A. i just wish the Fall leaves would set in a little more in this area. and you have a very beautiful daughter.

  • I’d HAVE to pick A & C together!  B & D are definitely OUT and B would mean that I would be making a trip to the humane society…. JUST KIDDING!!

Speaking of humane society, today (or this weekend) I must make a trip to “the Chicken Lady” (what we call the place where the chicken’s came from) to give her one of our “hens” that crows!  I will miss her… uh, I mean HIM, but, Mr. H. won’t let me keep a cock-a-doodle-dooing chicken for fear the neighbors will complain and we’ll have to change our coop location to smack dab in the middle of our yard.  But, the Chicken Lady said that the two chickens I gave her still haven’t crowed and may be hens, so, I’m gonna pick them up from her!! How exciting!  Those were two really pretty ones, and one was Ruffles, my favorite!  Watch us get them and they start crowing two days later…. ah, well, at least we know where to take them!  I’d still like to keep a rooster so we can have baby chicks, but, that doesn’t look probably…. Mr. H. REALLY doesn’t want that… waaaaaaahhhhh!!

Gotta go… started this last night and just now got back to it!  Ta-ta!!

  • Certainly NOT D.  I like the option of C, you took such a happy looking picture.  Ticks?  ewwww.  I would be obsessively fearing lyme disease.  Do you have it there?  We have discovered ticks on our kids before.  It is yukky, but lyme disease isn’t very prevalent here.  Here we have sheep ticks and some deer ticks.
