  • Wishing Well (or poorly)

Perhaps you noticed I’ve rarely posted this past month. Perhaps you haven’t. But, here I am again for the moment.

You know what I dislike with intensity? It’s the word “busy.” I don’t like what it means. I don’t like what it means in my life. It’s really annoying. So, I shan’t say that dratted word as any sort of reason why I’ve not been posting. Instead, I shall give you a wish list.

I wish that puppies went happily to sleep in their crates at 10:00 and didn’t wake up until the rest of the family did. And that this puppy loved her crate and didn’t whimper like we were beating her when she got in.

I wish kittens weren’t so obnoxiously LOUD.

I wish that our older cat just loved the new pets and we didn’t have to segregate and play “flip the cat” when one is in or out.

I wish that puppies didn’t chew on body parts, couch cushions, dead chipmunk heads, kittens, and leashes. Also, I wish this puppy didn’t find it so imperative to bark at all people who walk or jog by on the street.  And that this puppy would figure out to whine at the door when she needs to “do her thing.”

I wish that I had the sleep schedule of a homeschool family but the side benefits of public school, especially when wretched colds strike.

Is wishing whining?  I somehow feel mine is.

    What are you wishing for?

  • I wishing that my puppy and our finances will survive.

  • My puppy loved his crate…He layed at that spot when we took the crate down.

I wish that my pears in the kitchen would make themselves into jelly.

  • @sonnetjoy - Sorry, it occured to me later that my earlier comment might sound snarky. It’s not. It’s sincere.

  • I wish that puppies didn’t stink so badly.

I wish kids remember to feed the “beloved” puppy without being reminded 45 times.

I wish my new work phone system worked.

I wish my kids were going with me on my business trip.

I wish my landlord would get his head out of his “duffle bag” and get some of the promises he’s made to me fulfilled without me having to be ugly about it.

I wish phonetic rules were transferred to our childrens brain via a USB cable.

  • First I am wishing things settle down at your house soon, then you can post more often. You have been missed! For me…I wish my husband would take me to the movies this week-end. :)

  • When our dog was a puppy, I realized how much puppies and paper towels go together.  And all sorts of rug cleaners.  My wish for you is that your puppy gets through that phase quickly.

  • Exactly why I don’t own any pets!  What am I wishing for???  A healthy, happy baby delivered from an easy, smooth c-section on October 16th.

  • I’m wishing that the nice 70 degree temps last here in NY.

I wish that the house would learn to clean itself.

If the above doesn’t happen then I wish that my 4 girls would have a desire to play “cleaning ladies” for the nest couple of years.

I wish for a small pet (preferably a dog) for my youngest child…since that is what she desires…but we will see.

  • where is the photos of the kitty?

  • I have noticed that you haven’t been around.  In fact, just came to the computer to send a quick message and ask if you were okay!

I’m wishing that babies went to sleep in their cribs at 10:00 and didn’t wake up until the rest of the family did.  Ha ha ha!!

  • I noticed you hadn’t been posting as much. I figured you caught whatever it was I had, ha ha.

I can’t think of much for which to wish. I thought about a new guitar, but I don’t really have much time to play.

  • @jillcarmel -

They are on a previous post. HERE

  • There there, *pat*pat*pat*.  It sounds terrible, but I’m just glad you haven’t quit xanga either.  Yeah, the getting them to school on time gets tedious.  I drove kids to jazz choir at 6:45 a.m. for (two, I think) years.  I have been places in my bathrobe that I should not have been (in my bathrobe).  Then they have to be picked up at about the time dinner needs to be started.  The older boys could go to G&G’s house to wait while I sauteed some onions and put meat on to braise.

Kittens are so adorable, I do miss that stage, but the mess of dealing with them tempers it.  Haven’t ever had a puppy.

  • Oh, I feel for you. When our Golden was a puppy, we took turns sleeping on the sofa, with him on floor….leashed to the couch, ’cause we couldn’t stand his whimpering in the crate. This too shall pass….

  • I am so fortunate to have adopted Samantha perfectly trained.  However, I too wish she would whine to go outside.  Instead, she comes up behind you and ‘gooses’ you with her nose.  I went through all of the puppy stage with Remington and I wish you patience, lots of full bottles of Folex, and a Sam’s club supply of paper towels.

  • Ah, you got new pets.  That explains everything!  Puppies are just like having a newborn baby with all the work they involve.  Actually, I didn’t notice that you weren’t posting as often as I have not been on Xanga near as much as I used to be (& want to be).  When I get “involved” (not using the word busy) in things, I tend to avoid the computer as I can lose alot of precious time on it reading everyone’s blogs & updating mine.  Uploading pics takes a lot of time on here sometimes.

Oh, and would you like some cheese with your whine– oh, I mean wish list.  lol

And I hope your puppy is cuter than this mini is……

  • Och, weel, I feel for you. We’ve been going through the throes of having a cat in the house for the first time…we’re learning a LOT.

  • My good friend,

I will pray for you, and those crazy animals! I will also pray that God will give you His rest, and that you will have some moments of reprieve here in the next few weeks. Call me!

    Lisa

  • My middle daughter is at school in Texas. I’m wishing for her tuition to be paid!

  • I’m wishing someone would design a pill thats like getting 8 hours of sleep. Then I realized if they did that, everyone would take one and the rat race would just accelerate.

  • Kittens ARE loud. That’s why the best kittens are in photographs!

  • We never did the crate thing.  I am the puppy’s crate.  She sleeps on me, or near me.  I do sometimes lock her in the kitchen if we are goign to be gone for more than 3 or 4 hours, because the kitchen is tile.

As someone who has ton o pets, some which did not want to be siblings at first, you will have to let the older cat and the new pets work it out at some point.  Once our dominate male cat had proved to everyone new that he could in fact kick anyone’s butt if he wanted to he seemed to warm up to them, or at least content himself to slap them and then leave.

Yeah I think I would kill myself if I had to drive kids somewhere at 7:30am every morning.  We have tennis at 8:30 in another town on Monday and their outside classes which start at 8:30am by the beach, which is always heavy traffic, at 8:30am Tue and Thur and those are incredibly tense mornings.  god bless you my dear!  I don’t know how you do it all.

And I have no comment on the chipmunk heads.

    Glad you are back.

  • And thank you for your prayers and comments.

I am wishing that chocolate treats and cheese and pasta had no fattening side effects and that coffee had the health bennies of water.

  • @ElizabethDNB -

Ah, take back that martyr status from me! Two of them ride the bus, and my husband takes the other two. I am usually still in bed. Yeah, that’s my life. Pampered all the time. (really!)

  • Eventually, your puppy will fall in love with her crate and it will become a safe haven for her. It’s worth crate training…you’ll love how handy it is in the future and a major key in house training. Many little breeds are yappy for life, but Cesar Milan/The Dog Whisperer is a good source of training away bad habits. If your kids walk her a lot, it reduces the chewing (tiredness and mental activity reduces bad behavior). I’m so sorry that the new pets are the bane right now! I hope they become joys. It’s very loving and giving of you to allow them in your home to bring your kids joy.

  • Whew!  This certainly puts a new dimension to “Teacher’s Pet”!

My prayers are with you…I totally understand your frustration.  I have some cat stories I wish I didn’t have to whine about, lol.

…hugs, prayers, blessings, and lots of fresh baked cookies, strong flavorful teas with honey, and a true abundant supply of those quilted quicker picker uppers!

  • Wishing….I try not to do that. But of course it would be a silly lie to say that I don’t, so I would have to say that I wish someone wasn’t fading from my life.

  • You know what they say, “If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.”

  • @AggieSoonerMom -

If “ifs” and “ands” were pots and pans, there would be no work for tinkers.

  • Yes, I also hate the word ‘busy’ and try not to use it often, but that’s just how life is, wether homeschooling or running kids to school and activities…  I have noticed your absence though, and I am not one to get on xanga very often these days myself…  Hopefully, this will change for both of us.

I never thought I would enjoy my dog as much as I do so hang in there.  He never had problems with his crate-he came from a pet shop, so we feel like we rescued him from a cage for the day and he gave no resistance to being there at night.  I made him a blanket when we brought him home.  He is still attatched to his blanket like a child is, so maybe get your puppy something ‘familiar’ for his crate; it couldn’t hurt…

I wish….to enjoy each and every moment I have on this earth, and to chuck the things that tie me down, steal my time, and matter very little.  (now, tell me how to do that…)

  • @TeacherPerson - Ha, ha, are we getting into a tired old cliche contest here?

  • @AggieSoonerMom -

Actually, that is one of my favorite nursery rhymes. Except I skipped the middle bit “If turnips were watches, I’d wear one by my side.”
