  • Would You Rather…

Let’s imagine the Magic Wish Fairy came to visit and offered you one of these things. Which would you choose?

    • To look 10 years younger
    • To weigh 10 pounds less than you do now
    • To add 10 points to your IQ
    • To earn 10% more money
    • To have 10 new friends

(That Magic Wish Fairy has a thing for 10s.)

  • I don’t have to think twice LOL! Looking 10 years younger – definitely! And that Magic Wish Fairy had better hurry up!!

  • 10 pounds less…..

  • or could it be to give me 10million dollars tax free? I could do alot of good with all that money.

I have my eye on a $1.9 million house in Malibu that a friend’s son has for sale with a nice view.  That would help her son out and then let’s see……..

  • Where’s the wish for 10 more wishes? I’d pick 10 more friends! You can never have too many friends! I’m losing the 10 pounds on my own, trying to age gracefully ( though not always happy about the wrinkles) and 10 points to my IQ at this point would just make me better at cross word puzzles or something like that…10% money, we’d just spend 10% more…LOL! Ramble, ramble, ramble…Will the fairy grant my wish in 10 minutes?

  • Well, seeing as I prefer smaller numbers of new friends at a time, and I’m going to get that anyway in a couple weeks with a new semester at college, looking 10 years younger would NOT be fun as a 19-year-old, I don’t care about money, and I’m happy with my IQ, I guess that leaves me with 10 pounds less… oh I guess that’s what this morning’s run is partly for! Hmmm… maybe I’d send the magic wish fairy to one of my friends?

  • People already tell me that I look 10 years younger than I am. So IF I already look like Im 25- and chose to look 10 years younger- that would put me looking the same age as my 15 year old son. LOL. That would be WEIRD. LOL.

10 pounds- that wouldn’t even be enough. So that would be a wasted wish. (grin)

10% more money? That sounds nice….

10 more friends? Thats double nice.I think I would go with that. As long as their REALLY friends. Not just 10 more people to know- and feel halfway guilty for not staying in touch when your both in the same checkout line at Walmart. Your you say things like, “Wow! Your kids are sure getting big! How’s hubby doing? Where does he work at again?” When I choose 10 friends…I mean REAL friends. :)   Is that being too picky for a “free wish”? . LOL

  • If I looked 10 years younger, maybe I wouldn’t be accused of robbing the cradle. Yes, me, I am frequently accused of robbing the cradle. Snincr is 4 years older than me. :) That said. . .absolutely 10 new friends. . .keeping in mind that I would not get rid of any current ones, the few that I have.

  • IQ all the way!

  • I’d take 5 IQ points more and 5 years less on the look.
    (I have a thing for 5s.)

  • Look 10 years younger?  Nope.. because I’ll loose that extra touch of maturity.

Loose 10 pounds?  That would be my most conveted of this list of wishes!  Better yet if I could loose 8 more times of that amount immediately.  The catch is- people will start gossiping about me expecting another baby.  Yup, every time I lost a lot of weight- I was pregnant.  Ooooh, how I hate gossips.

Add 10 points to IQ?  That’d be nice… that would bring me to being about equal to my dearest’s IQ.  Mine happens to be above average already.  Raising IQ would put a little more distance between people around me and myself… but who wouldn’t want to be more equal to your own spouse in any ways?!?

Have 10 more percent money?  Nope.  We have enough.  Really!  My dearest easily earn in two weeks of what I could earn in one year while single yet.  Yup, I was stark poor and have learned that God will provide exactly what we need.  I was never without shelter, clothes, decent health, and food… I give all credit to God.

Living in midst of 10 new friends who is also well versed in sign language and deaf culture….  Ah…  I could only dream….  That won’t happen until after I drop this earthly tent.  It can be darn lonely in middle of big community here when my husband is only one who qualified.  If it did happen, I’d consider it one of greatest miracle accomplished by God on my behalf in short of restoring my hearing!

  • I think I would be in trouble if I looked 10 years younger…I don’t feel like being 5!!  lol  if I lost 10 lbs that would just give me an excuse to gain 10 back! lol new friends…could be nice….but i’m pretty content. 10 points higher on my IQ would  be nice, but I really don’t think i’d take much of an advantage of it. 10% more would be nice, but if I could costumise an “magic 10″ for myself it would DEF be 10 more guitars! haha now that would be livin’!! I guess the 10% raise would get me that wish faster, so we’ll go with that!

  • 10 lbs less please.  Also wanted to tell you your Cedarmont Silly Songs have saved our sanity – well almost.  When we put that cassette in BlueEyes automatically calms down.  Of course the rest of us, except maybe LilRed, are a bit tired of it but we thank you for including that one in the bag.

  • Hmmm. I’ll take the less weight, only multiply it by 2!

  • Not sure I’d choose one.  At some moments, I would definitely take the 10% more money, I’ll have to admit, but I know that God will provide exactly whaat we need, so that would probably be foolish.  There are other moments when looking 10 years younger would strike my fancy. 10 more friends sounds great, but friendships do require maintenance and I’d rather have a few good friends than many superficial ones.  Weighing 10 lb less would be good, but not a big enough issue that I’d waste a wish on it–I’d rather have the guarantee that I would never carry any excess weight again.  Now THAT would be a worthwhile wish!   And I am of the opinion that IQ is irrelevant to success and happiness, so I wouldn’t bother with that one, either.

Right now, I’ll have to say that I’m just pretty happy where I am.  Thanks for making me realize that!

  • Tie between earning 10% more money and loosing 10 pounds. Both seem pretty near impossible these days for me

  • well, as tempting as it would be to look like im seven, id defiantly have to go with 10 new friends.

  • If it’s the wish fairy then I’d wish for all of them, lol!!

    God bless you, Mary.

  • 10 years younger…no way!  The people at my OB office already look at me like I’m one of those pregnant teenagers.

I would have to go with 10 pounds less…of course this would be after I deliver the baby!

    How about you?

  • The Magic Wish Fairy isn’t the only one with a thing for 10s – I have a thing for them as well, and that’s why I married one!!!

Your question is easy for me – lose 10 pounds.

  • I approach this list from the perspective of “which of these things is impossible without the aid of the magic wish fairy”. That elimates losing 10 pounds, earning 10% more money, and gaining 10 more friends. Any of those could be obtained easily enough if I truly desired any of them.

Of the remaining two choices, I have no desire to look 19 again, so 10 point gain in IQ it is!

  • Hmm… any of them would be nice!  I have often wanted to lose 10 pounds (or 20) so I would probably go for that one…

  • Probably 10% more money, because I don’t make too much right now   I don’t want to look seven; if I weighed ten pounds less it might be scary, and if I had 10 more friends I might not be able to keep up with them!  The friends or the money, though…

  • Ten friends hands down. And then more money!

  • @tinybutterfly -

Only if you forward this message to 10 of your friends and demand they give the entry 10 stars in the next 10 hours.

  • I don’t need any of those! (Guess I do have a big head, ha ha)

  • You crack me up! I did give you 5 stars, though. Thanks for reminding me. I ALWAYS forget about that whole start systme. If I could give ya 10, I would! Now the forwarding this to 10 of my frinds in the next 10 hours and they have to give you 10 stars ( did I get that right?) well, bummer, that’s not going to happen…I don’t have the patience or the attention span for that! LOL!

  • Those are excellent choices. At first I thought I would go with 10% more money, then I decided hey – with 10 more IQ points, I bet I  could figure out how to make 10% more money — so I’ll go with that. I don’t mind aging, I’m already losing weight, and I have great friend and about10 new ones (coincident? I think not.)

  • The mind of the rascal Fairy thinks:

    POOF**

    1. You look ten years younger………………than your mom!

    2.  You weigh ten pounds less than you do now………………on Jupiter!

    3.  You add 10 points to your IQ……………when you were 3!

    4. You earn 10% more money………….working 20% more time.

    5. You add 10 new friends………………..and with these kinds of friends you won’t need any enemies.

Be very careful what you wish for.

  • @TheGoodDoctorJ - that’s a good one James, I almost asked “out of?”, but I know you mean on a scale from 1-9. right?

  • Probably the 10 pounds so I could get into my usual clothes.  The ten years is tempting.  I think that worry/squinting wrinkle between my eyebrows is there for good.  Hitting 40 has me thinking about how I plan to get old.  It’s a pill to swallow.  And more pills to follow!!

  • @ulmdog -

Hee hee. I actually thought of some of those as I was writing them down. I’ve read The Monkey’s Paw too many times to want to wish for anything for real!

  • Why, ten years younger, naturally! *sings Pirates of Penzance* ” I am a little girl of fiiiiiivve!”

  • Gosh, I don’t know! That first item, looking 10yrs younger, is awfully tempting but it’s not all that important to me.  I would pick the 10 lbs lighter if the wish included keeping it off! If it’s just the 10 lb jump-start then there’s no point.  The IQ is mighty tempting too, though I’ve been fairly satisfied. My IQ is the same as the average IQ of all US Presidents…smart, but no where near genius. The money would mean more travel money, also tempting. I have more friends than I can do a good job of keeping up with, so I wouldn’t pick that one. I’m happy as is.

So it’s a toss up between the 10 lbs (If the wish inluded keeping it off) and the money.

The IQ is probably the wisest choice, but I’d be afraid to mess with my mind…what if it wasn’t me when that wish was done?

  • Since I already look like a sixteen year old when I shave, that one’s out. I’ve never taken an IQ exam, and I don’t particularly want to lose weight, so I’m gonna go with more money (college is expensive, after all)

  • @englishwestern -

I’m surprised you’ve not taken an IQ test, not even one on Facebook. I can guess what yours would be.

  • @ulmdog – Yes, my scale would have been 1-9 or maybe 1-5!!!   But I was thinking more along the lines of the movie with Dudley M. and Bo D…..

    Take care, my friend.

  • I think I’d take the friends! I had to think about it, though! :)

  • @TeacherPerson -

But have you read the Lion’s Paw??

  • @bkroeker -

    Nope. What is it?

  • If I took the 10 year younger could I have the weight that came with that age?  It would be win, win all the way for me.

  • Mmm, I’d love to try some fairy-sticks!

  • Im pretty sure 10 more IQ could help me gain:

    - 10 more friends

    - 10% more money

    - some WAY to WEIGH 10 pounds less =P

As for looking ten years younger….if im not the part, but only look the part, then whats the point?

    IQ IQ IQ! win! =)

  • I’m afraid that I’m so vain that I’d wish for 10 pounds less….but since that wouldn’t even be close to enough of a weight loss; I’m sure I’d opt for the 10% more money!!!

  • Oh dear, there are so many self-improvement desires competeing for ascendency.  I hope I can lose the weight without needing a wish fairy.  Looking ten years younger?  That might happen with the weight loss…. I can’t decide.  Which did you choose?

  • Thanks for your comments.  You do understand!

  • i’d take the 10 IQ points :]]

  • Normally I would go with 10 points to my IQ, but I feel like it wouldn’t make a difference. If I were actually making money, making 10% more would be nice….
