  • I Should Have More to Say

Did you ever eat a donut for breakfast and regret it? Yeah, me too. Today.

I am hoping to write a nice entry about our last two trips in England–Wales and Bath.  Perhaps an August Armchair Vacation is just the thing. But that would require my actually making the effort to write.  I’m such a slug.

So, instead, I’ll mop the kitchen floor and go to lunch at Olive Garden where I can make regretful lunch choices.

May your day be free from remorse!

EDIT–I got very curious and looked at Michael Phelp’s the amazing Olympic swimmer’s meals according to the New York Post.

Phelps lends a new spin to the phrase “Breakfast of Champions” by
starting off his day by eating three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with
cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise.

He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a
bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar
    and three chocolate-chip pancakes.

At lunch, Phelps gobbles up a pound of enriched pasta and two large
ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread – capping
off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

For dinner, Phelps really loads up on the carbs – what he needs to
give him plenty of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week
regimen – with a pound of pasta and an entire pizza.

He washes all that down with another 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

  • Yep, I’ve been there.  Something about donuts (or cinnamon rolls) just entice me… and then I realize how many calories I just consumed…

  • Mmmm… I wish I had a donut!  Problem is, it’s hard to find a donut so yummy it’s worth the carbs, calories & fat content!  Dunkin’ Donuts are not all they’re made up to be– that’s about the only nearby option.  I have yet to try the grocery store versions.  There was a place in Lititz that has donuts to die for!  But alas, I will not drive 6 hours just for a donut…..

My fav donut is a white angel creme filled; glazed pretzel donuts are a close 2nd (haven’t had them since I lived in northeast PA, though).  What’s yours?

  • Nice tulip!

I have to admit that I’ve usually regretted every donut. It’s almost like that post-fast-food ick feeling after I eat one. Gimme a donut hole or two…I seem to handle them better.  Enjoy Olive Garden…yum!

I’m up for an August armchair vacation if you get around to sharing the trips. I’d love to see Bath pics because I remember a field trip there when I was 8 or 9.

Two families from our base are going to England next…one in our squadron and church, the other close friends. Yes, I envy them.

Well, I guess I better get off Xanga if I’m going to reduce the remorse. I got an early start today, but have been on Xanga so long that I’ll be editing at the same time as usual.

I only eat three kinds of donuts: mini white powdered sugared, mini chocolate covered cake, and cake donut with white icing and sprinkles. (Well, the sprinkles are optional)

This morning it was a full-size cake with white icing and blue sprinkles.

  • Too late…I regret eating Mc D’s for lunch.  A double cheeseburger sounded so good, now I just feel fat and gross.  Oh well!

  • I went to Olive Garden a little while ago and had calamari as my meal…not as an appetizer. Had salad and half a breadstick with that. My older son ate half my calamari, cuz it was a HUGE portion! Have fun making regretful lunch choices today! Might as well enjoy it, since you know you are going to do it. :)

  • P.S. Your travel tours may be just the thing for August when we are all stuck inside because of the heat or might even be nice when the weather turns all cold and blustery if you choose to wait longer to write. No worries. We’ll be here when you are ready.

  • Enjoy Olive Garden!

    God bless you, Mary!!

Oh, come on.  A good Krispy Kreme beats those all to pieces!  KK and homemade are the ONLY kind that are even close to worth the nutritional suicide!

  • I love donuts but I rarely eat them. They make me feel kind of sick. I wish I could eat them all the time, though.

  • remose-I’ve had a few but too few too mention

    what a pretty tulip

  • I don’t feel as bad eating a donut for breakfast as I do when I have done really good all day long only to blow it late in the day.  Kind of like what happened last night!  Dern.

  • Did you catch what Michael Phelps eats for breakfast?  Oh sure, he does swim 5 hours a day, but you have five children~~(smile)

I have a strong recollection that I might have been with you when you took this picture~was it in the Lake District?

    I miss you friend!

I didn’t hear what he eats, which is just as well, I suppose. Yes, you were there. This was just before those swans or geese or whatever they were started wandering around.

I just send Marion J an email. She’s such fun. And, yes, I checked your blog again, just in case there was something new there.

    You and yours are missed!

  • I was just reading that what Phelps eats article.  His Breakers, Lunch and dinner could feed a small country!  And it is not health food baby!  Check it out on the headlines of the BBC world news this morning.

Olive Garden sounds good.  I am in a pastaish mood.

  • ryc-YAY!  how cool is that?  have you guys met in real time before?  I am so excited for you both.

  • Any time I eat a donut, for breakfast or otherwise, I regret it. They make me sick. Bleh.

I like the tulip a lot. Is that a photo you took?

  • @LaDamedeShallot -

Yes, it was taken at Lake Windermere in the Lake District in England.

  • I had heard he ate like three horses… but that he swam hours a day.  I thought I couldn’t keep up with his exercise schedule and would just have to limit my calories, now I know his secret – energy drinks!  Perhaps I could keep up if I “juiced”.
