  •  Lurking on My Own Site

Can one really lurk at her own site? I feel like I have been lately.  I sneak in, see if anyone posted anything, and sneak away.  I’m not sure why I’ve not been much interested in posting all those wonderful details of my life of late. Ah, well.

I’m pretty giddy happy today, even though my ragweed allergies are over-the-top annoying and I feel exhausted. And, I’m STILL waiting for at least ONE ripe tomato from my six plants.  Yup, mid-August, and I’ve not even had one tomato yet. Nor a cucumber.  They all look healthy, though, with little green things on them.

Cheerleading, football, and soccer practice have started. I’m coaching LibbyK’s squad this year (technically second-in-command, but first-in- command for a few weeks).  Wit will find out Friday if he makes the high school team this year.  And, in big news, we’ve decided that LibbyK and Gockle are going to take part-time classes at the middle school this year.  Math, Science, German/French, and Home Ec/Tech Ed (which runs the days the language does not). It will be a change, but a happy one, I think.

But I still need to get busy and buy some homeschool stuff. Before I know it, it will be September 2!  Do you have any big changes (or small ones) coming up?

And just so you have a picture or two, here are some shots from camping at Prince Gallitzin in July.

Wit made the square one. TF made the tall one.

  • Your school district lets you do part-time classes?  That’s great.  Our school system wouldn’t even allow my 13 year old daughter to be on the volleyball team (the volleyball coach was all for it, but the school policies wouldn’t allow it)

  • @quilt_cats -

In PA, they passed a law allowing homeschooled kids to participate in sports and activities. I don’t know if the law extends to classes or not, but our school district is great that way.

  • They have part-time classes in our county…but not our neighboring counties- for homeschoolers. :) I think I’ve been guilty at lurking on my own site too. Pretty bad when you STALK YOURSELF isn’t it? LOL

So, after all that time at camp and all you post are mushroom pictures? LOL.

  • ((( Mary ))) God bless you sweetie.

  • Maybe I missed it, but why are you so “giddy happy”?  Could it be all those roses sitting around the house?

  • @SpazzyMommy -

Oh, these aren’t pictures from when I was a counselor. I don’t have a single picture from those two weeks. I didn’t even take my camera (gasp!). These were from when my family and I went camping with other families. I’ll add a new picture of very cool sandcastles Wit and his friend made.

  • The photo of the dead trees reminds me of the Pinery in Canada where we go every year. Those are great pics and they make me miss my camping trip already.

and school, ugh! I have my planning done. It is just the buying of the materials that is the scary part. Two high schoolers and a first grader require too much curriculum!!

  • “…of more value than many sparrows” – what does that mean?

  • you are silly if your’e lurking on your own site!

  • @nattata -

It is Jesus talking about how we don’t need to worry. He points out the relative little worth in the eyes of the world of a sparrow and says that God knows and cares for them to the last detail. And, we are of more value in God’s eyes than many sparrows. It’s a verse that reminds me how precious I am in God’s eyes.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

  • My tomatoes are just like yours….too green. I’ve been gone for a few days, so tomorrow I’ll go see if any progress was made.

It’s so nice that the schools there let your kids take classes. Not a chance here.

    I like your mushroom shots!

  • @TeacherPerson -

I see, that’s a nice one. Thanks for the explanation!

  • Nice pics! Hope your ragweed allergies clear up soon! First frost?

  • Sounds like a good deal; I know we don’t have programs for homeschoolers to participate in public school.

It started raining here late Saturday night and hasn’t really stopped since.  The temperatures went from in the 100′s to the 70′s.  The weatherman was wondering this morning where August went.

  • Lovely photos! Didn’t you write a post about how to write a post, save it and send it later? I can’t seem to find it. I need help. LOL

  • Oh! the pictures are lovely! When I saw the first one I thought you had the opportunity to visit Pixie land or something. I wonder what kind of Mischievous litte gnomes live inside of that toadstool.

  • @EuroMom -

I sent you a Xanga message all about it so you can have it for future reference.

  • LOL! I lurk on my own blog, too! Thanks for the congratulations! We’re excited!

Great pics on your post. Enjoy your day.

  • It’s the CAKE CASTLE! :) )))

  • its davids cake!!! I never actually got to see it finished.

  • I noticed you weren’t posting much.   Those mushrooms!  They don’t look real.  We have morels and puffballs.  Were those trees once evergreens?  Evergreen forests are mostly what we have over here.
