RugRat
Or a drowned rat in all this rain. I spent all day this rainy Wednesday tackling the mangy carpets in the house. You’d think that two rooms and the stairs wouldn’t take ALL DAY, but they did. I wanted them clean, really clean, so I washed, sucked up the water, washed with bleach (pale tan carpets–it works), sucked up the water, and then rinsed, rinsed, rinsed.
Now I’m exhausted and have blisters. (Feel free to say, “Poor wittle yoooou!” at any time.)
But, tonight, TGD took the kids to VBS, and I am HOME ALONE! With eight chocolate chip muffins! And tea! And lots of Diet Coke! And a novel! Whooo! (Feel free to take back the “Poor wittle you at any time.)

You really must have really attacked those rugs to end up with blisters! Poor girl! You deserve to enjoy the time alone with the book and the muffins.
Ah, the joy of being carpet free! You will find only “scatter” rugs in this house. Be glad that you don’t have to clean up the ick if your house did got flooded… Cedar Rapids, Iowa alone had 400 plus blocks under water. CR now dry but at the peak….
Enjoy these rare ‘me-time’ while you can!!
Poor little you!!
How many of those muffins are left now?
well is that your reward? for all the hard work? sounds like it.
How was the novel?
Talk about drowned rat…we have been camping in a tent at Raystown since Monday…we came home a night early because I just couldn’t do the storms for one more night in the tent…and everything we owned was wet!!!!!
Raining and clean carpet? Envy dripping from me.
VBS at night?!?
Annie read the Gemma Doyle series and liked it. Did you like The Host by Stephanie Meyer?
God bless you, Mary.
Carpet cleaning is a BIG deal. You deserved the home alone time!
Glad you enjoyed your quiet night and your squeaky clean rugs. We missed you last night but Pastor D. was hilarious. You do NOT want him to make stew! Tumbleweed, either!

ooooh yes ~ VBS at night, indeed! We have ours that way ~ lol mostly because those of us “pulling it off” work daily. The kids love coming too, at night. It gives them something to look forward to in the evenings, and they still get to play all day, go swimming, etc.
Blessings To You!
Hmmmm I thought I smelled a rat ~ Ha!
Chocolate chip muffins sound delightful. I’ll be over with a pot of tea to add to the tea you said you already have
(Don’t want to drink all yours! LOL)

Wouldn’t that be wonderful? I’d even give you all the tea you cared to drink!
Aw! You are tee-totally my cuppa tea..hee hee.
So: what flavors of tea do you enjoy?
@TheCookiePeople -
I like Tetley decaf. But, Earl Grey and Lady Grey are two favorites. I have an array of tea, so when I get the hankering for mandarin orange spice or blueberry, I indulge.
OH, your recovery time sounds won-der-ful!
Any pictures of the rugs?

I thought about taking pictures, but shots like that never turn out well. They just look like slightly dark carpets.
I had carpet, a long time ago. When we first got Murphy the Yorkie, he had such a teeny weeny little bladder that he had accidents daily. I got a $$$Carpet cleaner and shampooed the peepee area daily. The amount of dirt I picked up daily (the water would be muddy) grossed me out and so one day, while home alone, I tore it out! My poor husband came home to concrete floor in the living room! There are only 3 rooms left with carpet; the children’s bedrooms. I jerked the carpet out of my bedroom shortly after the living and dining room.
And that is my history with carpet!
*groan* I remember shampooing carpet… I appreciate my wood floors, but when I read a post like yours, I want to kneel down and kiss those wood floors. I’ve had blisters like that-you poor poor thing!
I think you deserve an evening alone with the muffins, good book and diet coke. Enjoy!
yummy choc chip muffins…. a just reward for the labors of the day!
I don’t know. You might still be poor little you with eight muffins! Hope they were delicious (but didn’t make you sick)
Eight muffins! Eee-gads! I would eat them all if I was by myself for the whole evening. Enjoy!!
Poor wittle you!!! Cleaning carpets doesn’t sound fun…
