What’s in YOUR Mug?
When I was in high school, the seniors would always have Awards Day. These weren’t the scholarships and things that one might expect, but more personal awards like “Class Driver” given to the worst driver in the class (yup, I got that one) and other silly things. They also awarded a “Junior Most Likely to Succeed.” I wound up with that one and got a mug.
My friend Jeanene and I decided that whatever beverage I drank first from the mug would be how my life would go. Being dorky 16 year olds, we thought a beer would be great and a glass of milk would be horrible. Instead of casting the die, I put the mug on my shelf with all my other memorabilia.
A few years later and home from college for the summer, I decided it was time to rid myself of the lingering vestiges of high school. Down came the Ferris Bueller poster and the Mardi Gras beads. The dusty mugs went into the sink to be washed. The scraps of magazines and newspapers were filed or tossed.
After the great purge, I sat at my desk, surveying my “adult” room, sipping a well-deserved beverage. With sudden shock, I realized I was drinking from THE mug. For the first time! Ah!
What do you think was in the glass and why do you think so?

Chocolate milk – irony with a taste!
humm, since you are trying to trim some calories… I’m guessing it’d be skim milk. Skimming all the horribles out so your life isn’t so bad anymore!
Coffee?
Noooo tea!
Those twist it thingy’s you like lol!
Oh I don’t know.
x
I’m just sure it wasn’t beer.
My guess is tea. You seem to be that kind of relaxed and natural person.
Lemonade. Surely it was summertime.
My guess is also lemonade. It’s summer’s most refreshing beverage! I’m guessing if you had soda you would have been drinking out of a can. I also thought of tea, but if the picture is an accurate representation of the mug, I don’t think you would drink tea out of it – it’s essentially a beer stein, after all. Lemonade would be fitting – your life’s theme could be, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” Hopefully without too many lemons, of course.
PS: We have a mug that looks a lot like that picture and I like to make root beer floats in it.
Now I’m curious (and nitpicky, because you used to grade my papers mwahaha). Is “Award’s Day” a case of misplaced apostrophe?
Water, of course! Or maybe diet root beer. You needed something cold and refreshing after that job, but not anything fancy.
what?
You were drinking Schlitz malt liquor beer and a huge Schlitz malt liquor bull crashed through your wall.
I am really curious — my first thought was water, but hopefully it was something more exciting, like wine. Do they make a Jax drink???? That would explain a lot….. lol

Hmmm…Well, it could be Award’s Day, as in the day of the Award. It could be Awards’ Day as in the day of the Award. Or it could be Awards Day as in many Awards are given on that day. Think, think, think. I’m going with the last one and changing it now, oh most excellent TA.
Diet Pepsi. Now, what does it mean about the directcion of your life?
Water, of course, because you had just taken it to the sink to rinse it out and you were thirsty from all the work and it’s the default drink.
So what was it? Tell it pleaaaaaaasssseee! lol
Diet Squirt Plus
a cup of tea
Tea; iced tea……no umbrellas
Diet Pepsi – it was and still is the “in thing”….
I would guess Pepsi.
