  • So Happy and Munchy

Today, I am very happy. Thank you, ElizabethDNB, for recommending Paperback Swap!  I had never heard of this nifty place.  You go register there and list books you have that you’d like to trade. If someone wants one, you get an email, print a handy, pre-addressed mailing label, and pay the postage to send the book. But, the nifty thing is, for every book you send, you get to request one from someone else!  Oh, the joy! Books I don’t want for books I do want for only the cost of shipping.

If you want to go sign up for this wonderful website, click on this link.

Thank you all who recommended Amazon over Ebay. I have a few books for each place, I think, and some for free giveaway to homeschoolers with younger kids. Nothing really exciting (or I wouldn’t be giving them away, eh?)

Now, for the Munchy part of my title… Today has not been the best day for diet and exercise.  It’s been raining off and on, so no walking.  Wit made chocolate chip cookies, which are one of my main downfalls (although I’ve only had THREE so far. Good on me!). And, I’m a bit bored.  Munch, munch, munch.

Breakfast–two slices of whole wheat toast with sugar free blackberry jam and hot tea with honey

Lunch–pasta with sauce, bowl of Jax

Supper–Homemade pizza and a chocolate chip cookie.

Snacks–(uh-oh) Two chocolate chip cookies, 30 Dots, a banana

Excuse me, but where are the veggies in this diet?  They should make a carrot and pea Blizzard at Dairy Queen.  Chocolate chip spinach cookies?

  • I hear that Jerry Seinfeld’s (sp?) wife has a cookbook out with things like spinach in cookies, but I haven’t actually looked at it yet.

I’ve had a munchy day too…a big bowl of watermelon (it’s finally done!), a few handfuls of Cheerios, a handful of croutons, some baby carrots, three Oreos…at least we did actually make dinner!  Zucchini and shrimp in a white wine and lemon sauce, tossed with some pasta.  As for the exercise, I squeezed in two short walks (between an appointment for the cable guy who never came, and all of the rain) in addition to all of that crazy dancing, even if you won’t let me count that (as you may have already guessed, I didn’t try the fly thing…next time!).

  • make yourself a deal e.g. if you eat this amount of vegetables with lunch one day, u get a couple of cookies as a treat that evening. that way you’re getting your veggies, and you get to satisfy ur sweet tooth too :0)

    are u an english teacher?

    have a good night x

  • that sounds good. I go tomorrow night to my library book club and we are going to decide what books to read for the next 3months

  • I just heard about something today like your paperback swap. Different name though. Both are must look-into-s.

  • Ewwww.  I think I’ll take my veggies straight, thanks.  And where is the protein???  Really, you ought to get more than that.  It helps you to slow down the absorption of thos Jax.

  • If they made that kind of Blizzard at Dairy Queen, I wouldn’t buy it! LOL!

There’s a used bookstore in town that gives a decent percentage worth of credit per book brought in. Last fall, I bought several large cookbooks at a yard sale for practically nothing, with the intention of taking them to the bookstore. I received much more in credits than I paid and happily used those credits to buy books I wanted to read. Yay!

  • I think I’ll pass on that carrot and pea blizzard. The spinach cookies might not be so bad if they were something like carrot cookies. Haha… :)

You and your Jax. What excactly is this? It must be good as I see it’s a necessary part of your diet. LOL ;) I wonder if it’s any relation to Pirate’s Booty puffed cheese bites. Love them thar thangs!

I have shelves of books that I just hate to give away. The paperback swap info that you’ve shared is wonderful! Thanks for posting about it. I’ll have to go and check it out.

  • In the sauce of course! Was it tomato sauce?

  • I’m more concerned about the lack of dairy in your diet. There’s a reason women, especially, are encouraged to consume “3-A-Day”: osteoporosis. Believe me, you do not want that!

  • Paperback Swap ROCKS! We are supposed to get a book for my son soon and we’re excited. It reminds me of the thrill that came with waiting for a package from a cereal box order. :)

I’m back on the wagon myself, sugar-wise. We have had weeks of special treats and I think my brain goes mushy along with my thighs when I eat too many carbs, especially sugar. I like walnuts with breakfast–they really keep me from being so droopy in the late morning hours. (Mmmmm, Dairy Queen blizzards. I think there’s a little Homer Simpson in all of us.)

  • I know how you feel…I’ve been running two kids around this week and can’t go to the gym because we are so busy showing our visitor a good time.  You are so beautiful…you diet still is no where near out of control!  Seriously.  Enjoy those cookies!!!  Susan

  • Surely I’ve told you this; chocolate comes from cocoa beans. Chocolate is a vegetable!

  • I forgot to post food before I went to bed last night. I had my best day for food and exercise yesterday. I hope today can come close…no walking partners besides the dogs today. It must be hard with a house full of free-thinking and doing people…I “cheat” more readily on my eating for blood sugar when my husband is around (aka baked goods, bread, pasta, rice…all those bad carbs that turn into belly fat…he loves them!). My “weakness” is that evening glass of red wine, though I’ve been good about keeping them small, they still translate to sugar in your sysem.

The swap thing sounds great; I’ll have to check it out. I keep most books, but want to weed out the ones I was less enamored with.

    Anyway, here’s yesterday:

    Wednesday, 18 June

Exercise: 1 hr walk, 30 min pilates

    Breakfast/Morning:
24 oz water, 2 tbsp wheat germ with milk, 1 stick string cheese, 14 oz decaf with 1 spoon of caffeinated coffee.

    Lunch:
Big bowl of the same awesome salad as yesterday, 24 oz kool aid, 2 squares dark chocolate

    Dinner:
4 oz red wine, 1 really big acorn squash, 2 tilapia fillets (cooked with fresh spinach & basil leaves, bacon and cream cheese), 5 grape tomatoes, 22 oz kool aid.

Evening: 16 oz water & koolaid
Hytrading total: 86 oz (not sure if the coffee counts because I put 1/5 caffeinated in it)

  • LadyJ has used recipes from the Seinfeld book mentioned earlier. Some were awesome (califlower in scrambled eggs, carrots in meatballs), some were so-so (spinach in brownies), and some were nasty (can’t remember any off-hand, but I suspect that’s a protection mechanism against the awful memories).

  • how many children do u have? i cant even imagine being a mother although i absolutely love children and definitely want two or three of my own one day. i still feel like a little kid trapped in an “adults” body though!

  • That site sounds awesome! I’ll have to tuck away the link for it. Only problem is… I glance around the room at my bookshelves and realize there isn’t anything I care to part with. I go to a used bookstore that operates on somewhat the same principle–I take in books I don’t want, they give me a trade slip, I browse throughout the store and pick out new ones I like. Because of this, my bookshelves are pretty current with things I like and I don’t have all that much to get rid of. But that still sounds so cool!

  • Oh if I throw a tea party, you shall indeed be invited!  Three of my most favorite recipes (lately) are all healthy cookie selections.  And I do mean healthy!  One is a fudgy cookie made with pure cocoa and puree’d prunes.  The other is one loaded with minced carrot, chopped walnuts and spinach, (yes, really!)  and the other is a moist pineapple and coconut combination that I add slivered almonds to.

I know all about diets!  Last September, though, I drastically changed my eating habits for good.  Food intolerances had gotten just about the best of me. (Wheat and dairy.)  Along with ditching them, I also went totally off of sugar.  Anything refined, really.  The results are amazing.  Not only is the weight finally coming off, but the many other bothersomes are also hitting the road.  I haven’t felt this good since I was a teen!  I’m delighted…and so thankful to the Lord for working this all out in my life.

And I’m eating good too!  LOL I have a whole new stash of tasty recipes.  Perhaps, when vbs is over, lol….and I can think again…I shall start adding some to my blog.  Been wanting to do that, actually.

Enjoy those cookies, dear.  And by all means, have another honey-drizzled cup of tea.  Life is good where there is honey.

(After our tea party, we will go for a nice long walk by the river…perhaps even a canoe ride.

  • Yes, I ask myself that question frequently (“where are the veggies?”).  I did do better at actually BUYING the veggies this last trip to the market, but, seeing as I’ve been sick (but mostly all better, now, praise God!!), hubby has brought home a lot of fast food the last two weeks.  Do the tomatoes on Taco Bell tacos or Wendy’s french fried potatoes count???  How ’bout ketchup? … i didn’t think so…  Today, I had 2 eggs & 1&1/2 pieces of toast for breakfast, salad and some skinless rotisserie chicken breast, and half of a peanut butter & honey sammich on whole wheat bread for dinner.   Oh, woopsy!  Forgot to mention that WE made c.c. cookies as well today and I ate *ahem!* …s-s-six… little ones… really little ones… like, “two-biter” size… with a large glass of milk.  I’M HORMONAL, ALRIGHT!!!! ;)

You probably weren’t expecting everyone to give you a rundown on their menu for the day when you posted this were you?  Aren’t you glad you asked?!! :D

I’m so glad you still write to me!  I’ve become such a slacker with Xanga, but, you’ve been so faithful to keep popping in and sending me your cheerful messages!  I finally got on antibiotics for my snotties & coughies and my body responded immediately to them.  (Thank You, Jesus!!)  I don’t like going on them because of all the havoc they can reak on the immune system, but, at times like this, they are just like “little miracles in a pill” & I seriously thank God for giving man the mental capacity to create such modern medicine.  Just have to go on acidophillus & an immune booster for a while.  My 5 y.o., F., is saying her throat hurts now, too, so, tomorrow, I’m toting her off to the dr.’s office & getting some for her.  No sense in any of us suffering through this any longer!

O.k., I really have to go now.  So glad you’re back and getting settled in!!

Lunch: 12 oz koolaid, 4 triangles light laughing cow cheese, Tuscan chickpea soup.

Girls’ night: 16 oz water, 1 piece cake, bowl of fruit with topping, few spoonfuls of chicken salad on Hawaiin bread, cheese & olives.

    Evening home: 12 oz water.

    Hydration total: 84 oz

  • Yes, I am also getting excited about camping with you all! It was a highlight of our summer last year! I have not heard from Kleinekatze in a couple of days since they have had a trip to Hamburg and an island in the North Sea. I am anxious to hear from today, hopefully. Hope your diet/exercise program is going well!

  • Will do a food entry when I get back after the weekend. Have a fun weekend!

  • Thursday…started the day with a granola bar and a short walk with the short people (in the stroller),  had a low-fat yogurt and some pretzels for lunch.  At the end of the day, realized that I was short on the veggies, so we had giant servings of gingered carrots and steamed green beans, with some rice pilaf.  We finished off the night with a long walk (stroller included)…and then a few (2 or 3) oreos.  Oops!
