  • Five Things from Random

ElizabethDNB tagged me, so I thought I’d play along.  Even if you weren’t tagged and feel like doing this quiz, please feel free! Now I’m off to take a walk. But first,  I must rouse my sleeping teens from Summer Morning Slumberland. (And brush my teeth)

    Five Snacks I Enjoy:

Jax Cheese twists (oh, what a surprise!)
Chocolate chip cookies  (no, really? I had NO idea!)
    Pretzels
    Chocolate chip ice cream
Candy (Dots, Sugar Babies, and more)

Five Things On My To-Do List Today:

    Shopping
Go pick up Hunter from camp
Take TGD out to early Father’s Day supper
    Pick up pool chemicals
Make the kids clean the house (mwa-ha-ha!)

Five Things I Would Do If I Were A Billionaire:

    Pay off my mortgage
Give lots of money to missions, especially IGM (Independent
    Gospel Missions)
    Give money to libraries
    Travel internationally with my family
Wonder if it was really worth the stress to be a billionaire

    Five Jobs I Have Had:

    Waitress
    Telemarketer for Stanley
    Steemer Carpet Cleaner
    Online English Teacher
    College English Teacher (composition)
Writer of math supplements and English teacher’s manuals.

    Five of My Bad Habits:

Do I have any? (Oh, so very funny.)
    Not being terribly tidy
    Leaving half-used tissues lying around
Inconsistency in many areas (not cheese twist eating)
    Gockle says, “Chewing ice”
Being impatient with TGD and the children and then saying,
“I’m not impatient!” and getting mad

    Five Places I’ve Lived:

    Curwensville,
    PA
    State College,
    PA
    San Antonio,
    TX
    Norman, OK
    Cambridge,
    England

    Five Random Things:

I love to rock in rocking chairs.
I have been known to get motion sick on  pool rafts. Don’t even mention the back seat of a car or a spinning ride at an amusement park.
I have the tiniest pinkie toenail you’ve ever seen.
I like to sleep with my ears covered by my hair just so spiders won’t crawl into my ears while I sleep.
I really think I like gardening, but when you get right down to it, all the digging, planting, and weeding is annoying.

Now I get to tag five people. I’m going to tag my newest Xanga friends–

    Sandibell

    Quilt_Cats

    You_Taste_Bittersweet

    MightyShell

    Katiegrl_20_2008

  • You lived in Norman? Been there plenty of times- my cousin lives there- as well as other family members. :)

I totally understand about the “gardening thing”.

FUNNY ABOUT THE HAIR OVER THE EARS!! (ROTFL)

  • Interesting facts!  I’ll have to get busy and come up with a list!

  • I love your list – I could have written a lot of these myself!  Especially the gardening and the bad habits – those could very well be me.  Thanks for sharing!

  • Choc cip cookies and choc chip icecream huh?  I see a pattern developing here!

I totally understand the car sick even on the pool raft!  that is so me!  In fact I am wondering if I have this same thing TGD has.  I am dizzy and very easily motion sick particularly during allergy time.  I am looking it up.

Anyway, I way get the ears and spider thing!  I need my toes covered, even if the rest of me is not, just so monsters can’t get them and snakes like the ones in ricki-Ticki-Tavi.

    Thanks for playing.

  • Okay, this was WAY FUN to read! I will try to remember to do it later! Probably not today, though. P.S. I cover my ears at night, too, but I am afraid of wasps getting in there. Long story.

  • That’s a sad breakfast!

  • @nattata -

Actually, I’m not usually super-hungry in the morning, so I’ll bustle around and then WHAM! I’m starved and wind up eating cookies. So, a Slimfast bar is a better choice. Plus, they load those things with fiber and vitamins, which are sadly lacking in cookies.

  • So sad that Xenia didn’t make the list of fabulous places you’ve lived!

  • @TeacherPerson - And how do they taste (not the cookies lol)?

  • what a fun list!  i have never had jax cheese twists.  i will have to look for them.

  • I always figure I’ll work breakfast off and so I never feel bad about a glutenous breakfast! hahah

Norman OK is about 2½ hours from where I live.  My Dad graduated college at Penn State.

The hair thing is kind of odd.  hahahahaha

  • ((( Mary )))

    God bless you!

  • @ladyjabez -

Can you believe I forgot until you just mentioned it? Nine years of my life there! Sheesh.

  • aw, I wish I was still one of your newest Xanga friends.

but it’s okay, because now I feel like I belong.

  • How embarassing…so much for doing better just because I know someone is paying attention…

Snacks: raisin bagel, plate of fruit, slice of banana bread, slice of peach cake, handful of goldfish

Dinner: take out fettuchini with broccoli rabe and sausage, and lots of bread

Snacks: Since I was feeling like I’d already wrecked the day with my carb overload and unhealthy eating, I figured that I might as well go all out (do you ever do that?)…large bowl of ice cream, three oreos, the rest of the bread that came with my dinner, two candy fruit slices, and then, just to feel a little bit healthy, a big bowl of cherries.

Exercise: Does getting two kids to a birthday party, the bank, the grocery store, the outlet mall for Father’s Day shopping, and then packing for the boys’ camp out count for anything?  I sure hope so!

    Maybe tomorrow will be better.

RYC: The house hunt continues, although really only half heartedly…I’m starting to feel like it will be impossible to find something that we like that is also in a price range (and tax range) that we are comfortable with.  No news, but thanks for asking!

  • How’d today’s food/exercise go? Mine went well. I may or may not end up having ice cream and nectaries during our DVD movie, but I thought I’d put in my log now. Friday:
    Morning:
12 oz water, 12 oz koolaid, 12 oz decaf
2 tbsp wheat germ with milk
    1 stick string cheese

    Lunch:
    2 squares 70% dark chocolate
    Broccoli salad
Wrap: beef brisket, light cheese, shredded cabbage
12 oz koolaid, 8 oz water

    Evening:
24 oz fizzy water, 12 oz. water
    4 oz red wine
    Slice of havarti
Bowl of chicken mole, salad (shred cabbage, onion, ½ avocado, grape tomatoes)

Exercise: 30 min walk, 20 min pilates

  • Mmm, just reading this post with the comments makes me want to make a wild dash to the fridge. :P

I don’t know if I’ve welcomed you home yet, but welcome home! Glad you made it back safe and sound. :)

  • Yeah, San Antonio!!!  Sorry I can’t help with the diet challenge, being preggers kinda puts a stop on dieting.  Plus since I’m 5 months pregnant and have only gained two pounds, my doctor may have a few words for me next months if I play along.  How about you tell me what you would like to eat and then I’ll try (still not feeling so hot) and eat it for you.

  • I got tired of writting down my food! lol and you know friday is our mexican food night out.

Hey, you are weirder then I thought.lol in a good way I mean that.

  • @rjdohner -

I want a huge bowl of chocolate chip ice cream every night. And unlimited cheese twists. And a whole box of Sugar Babies. And Eggo waffles with syrup (which I just might eat anyhow!)

  • You put salt on your water melon? I have never heard something like that before!

RYC: The proteins weren’t missing, they were in milk, yoghurt and cheese.

  • I feel like knowing that you have the smallest pinkie toe ever has catapulted our friendship to a new level~I can’t believe I didn’t know this about you!

I loved this blog, it was very fun.

Jim just submitted his dissertation! Hip hip hooray! There is a palpable relief right now in our home, and perhaps a lot of fatigue. You know how it is when you push hard with a project and then are finished. Only 9+ years . . .

Beautiful day here, I went this morning to the boot sale (like garage sale, but all in one place, hundreds of people!) and found some fun things.

Have a great Father’s Day~tomorrow is the Eden Baptist church picnic. We will miss you~

    Lisa

  • I almost wasn’t going to post Friday’s food because I am feeling a little guilty, but then that would defeat the point, right?

Breakfast: two eggs, small glass of milk; Lunch: iced tea, triskets w/turkey and cheese; Dinner: calzone with chicken, pineapple, and olives from a local pizza place, Mike’s lemonade.

And for today, Saturday – slept in late so skipped breakfast and went straight to lunch: pb&j sandwich, half grapefruit, milk; snacks: triskets w/turkey and cheese, iced tea; dinner (party at friend’s house): hamburger, hot dog, baked beans, fruit salad, baby carrots, lemonade, small bit of root beer, small piece of apple pie, scoop of vanilla ice cream, peanut butter truffle brownie.

  • @smarkas -

Friday’s food looked okay to me!

  • I’m curious – when did you live in Norman, OK?  Oklahoma is my home state and I used live about 30 miles from there.

  • @pumpkinlde -

We were there the summer of 1999. We often lived other places in the summer.

  • I enjoyed reading your lists.  How about that! I didn’t know you taught college!  Tertia has a contract to do that next year.  Did you get a Masters then?  Mr. M. chews ice too.

You asked about my summer plans?  I am helping with spelling camp, and trying to get the house clean.
