Home Sweet Cambridge Home
After two three-day, back-to-back trips, I’m home with lots and lots to write about. But, I’ve got laundry piled waist high and Lethargy has me wrapped in a cozy polar fleece this gray and rainy day, so I won’t bother with a big entry yet. I’ll just tease you with where I’ve been.
- Sherwood Forest
- Yorkshire Moors
- The Bronte home and parsonage
- The Lake District
- Beatrix Potter’s house
- Lyme Hall (a.k.a Pemberley in the A&E version!)
- The Peak District
- Bath
- Cardiff, Wales
More to come, dear friends and readers!

I thought you have kids. They are supposed to do the laundry.
Welcome back! Rest up on this dreary day.
Can’t wait!
I drove to Haworth to see the Bronte home…but it was closed!!! It was the only time it had ever been closed or something in years. Sigh. I’m sure you’ll tell me all about it. I got some great time in the churchyard. I love Wales, too. It’s my fav. And the Lake District! And…well, you know. I miss England sometimes. I’d love to go there again with no missionary stuff to do (that sounds just horrible, doesn’t it?!) You know what I mean!
**envy** wish I could go around to all those places too. How was Cardiff? Do you and your kids watch Doctor Who? It’s filmed largely in Cardiff. Bath is so beautiful. I hope you post photos.
You must tell me about Sherwood Forest and the surrounding terrain! For reasons that I’ll leave you to guess, I could use the info.
RYC: In case you didn’t see Connor’s comment, both he and I would like to know more about your thoughts on The Phantom. What sexuality there was seemed quite implicit to me, where present; no worse than Gladiator, for instance. Were you referring to the content of the various operas?
@arohk -
I just sent emails with pictures attached. Let me know if they arrive (or don’t arrive).
It is not nice of you to tease!
More to come?
Looking forward to it. God bless you, Mary.
wow that is good and what a neat photo of the dandelion
What a list! We are all talking about your return here at our house! Hope your last couple of weeks are wonderful. Things have been pretty exciting here as well
I’m on the edge of my seat- waiting for more details and pictures!!!!
Oh my goodness; I think that is a picture of my English cousins! hahahahahaha
I have a yorkshire terrier and those dandelions are extra hairy, like him!
Yay for Sherwood Forest! Makes me think of Robin Hood!
oh! I can’t wait to hear about this! Especially Beatrix Potter’s house, Pemberly and Sherwood forest. Man! You do some of the greatest posts-except this one!!! You’ve left us hanging….
I hope that you enjoyed your trips. Traveling can be so exhausting….So enjoy your rest
I’m looking forward to your next entry.
OH MY GOSH! THAT IS NOT FAIR!!!! hehe. PLEEEAAASSSEEEE post pics of everything asap!!!! :Jealous grin: I just got done with watching for the first time P&P A&E version not too long ago and on Wednesday, I turned in my term paper about Beatrix Potter. When I read the “Lake District” and pretty much EVERYTHING else…well, let’s just say that I am pretty much freaking out. HOW cool to be able to go to those places!!!
@Ilassie -
No way. Beatrix Potter AND P&P in the same week? Wow. I’ll post pictures soon! Sherwood Forest is up, but Robin Hood’s probably not on your radar screen right now, eh?
What does RYC mean?
My kids are supposedly related to Beatrix Potter. I should ask my mother-in-law about that.
@EuroMom -
RYC means “regarding your comment.” So, if I made a comment on something you said, I’d write RYC. Or, I’d just hit “reply” or something.
Related to Beatrix Potter? Now, that’s neat!
@TeacherPerson -
Well, I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago, but it still VERY fresh in my memory. I absolutely CANNOT wait for you to put pics up. I am dying to know if it still looks the same as it did, and about Potter’s house etc too! Since I have done sooo much research on her.
Hey, I was contemplating putting my 10 page term paper on my Xanga about Beatrix Potter. Is that something you’d be interested in reading and the others you think?
Or is that dumb? You could print it out and read it to your kids! haha. Just kidding.
@Ilassie -
I’d love to read your paper! If you don’t want to put it on Xanga, you can email it to me. I’ll message you with my email.
Eh, doesn’t look like I’ll be seeing ocelot actually, since we may not be in their area.
*gasp* I’m dying to see your pics of Wales and of Beatrix Potter’s home.
I was only gone for 6 days, and I’m still digging my way out of laundry, email and a to-do list that will take a week. The bliss of travel was worth it, however, as was seeing so many good friends.
What IS that thing?
