  • I’m Back!  Did You Miss Me?

What? You didn’t even notice I’ve been non-Xanga for a week? Alas!

I’ve certainly been keeping myself busy to the point that on Tuesday I was so exhausted I spent almost the whole day in bed. I wasn’t sick, just worn out. Can anyone say, “OLD woman?”  Despite my infirm age (and desire for shoes that don’t have my feet aching by the end of the day), we’ve had a wonderful time with our guests, two of whom left this morning. We went to The Tower of London, on a cruise down the Thames River, Kensington Gardens, British Museum, Victoria and Albert, and more! It’s been wonderful having friends come to visit.

I have about a gazillion pictures I could post, but I’ll refrain from too many and hit share just seven–

The Tower of London as seen from The Thames

Ghosty, LibbyK, and Hunter in front of  The Bridge of Sighs at St. John’s College.

A band during the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. Best moment? When the band began to play, “New York, New York.”  They also played a song from Pirates of the Caribbean.

The whole crew standing outside our favorite pub in Cambridge, Lloyd’s, after having had fish and chips.

Everyone (including Little Miss’s friend J)  in front of Ely Cathedral.

    Ghosty and Big Ben’s Tower

  • Welcome back to Xanga.

Yes we have missed your fantastic entries.

My week has been the same just spending most of my time on Xanga and job searching.

  • Oh, how fun!  I love London!  It looks like you had a good time!!!

  • I did miss you and was wondering where you were!
So, did you go in the tower? My son says it’s fascinating.

Yes, I do believe we are destined to meet sometime….we need to do it before my son shoves out of your area! …..once you are back, stateside, that is!

So glad you had fun with your friends! Yea for good friends!

  • @i_was_there_and_back_again -

Yes, we did go to the Tower, and it was raining, so they did not continue our free tour. And, we ran out of time. But, maybe 2 hours was all the “fun meter” for the teens could handle. I could have done more, even though I’ve been there before.

  • sweet!! say hi to Ghosty 4 me!! lol

  • I missed you and your great travel journal!

  • I miss London. Those free tours with the Beefeaters are really fun. I envy your enjoying cool awesome London. being home sucks.

  • We all missed your posts! As for being an old woman, Ha! I was so cold last week, I just couldn’t warm up. My daughter started to say, “Maybe it is because you are…” “What, maybe its cause I’m what, F?” “Maybe it is cause you are getting old now.” Evil daughter. Run away fast before I can hit you!!

  • Of course I missed you! Have you not noticed the footprints I have been leaving, checking for updates? :)

As always, great post! I love your pictures.

  • I definitely did miss you! I love reading of the adventures and exploits of my favorite teacher :) . I’ll even give you flowers to welcome you back. (Speaking of which, I was slowly saving up credits to have enough to give you that mini, I take a survey and BOOM! those expensive flowers aren’t so expensive anymore :( … but it’s the thought that counts, right?) I’m thinking of you and praying for you. :)

  • what a lovely set of pictures!

  • Totally did and do notice when you are gone.  Just because I have been a lousy commenter does not mean that I have not remained a faithful reader.

Secondly, you can not possibly be old, becaus eyou are two years younger than I am, so there!!!

On another subject, glad you are having so many adventures, it sounds wonderful, but also explains why you are worn out!

  • oh yeah, and ryc- I do not know how it compares to a HB, but it is yummy.  It also depends a lot on the brand.  Some are gross.  Others quite tasty.  Yellow loves the morning star breakfast patties, which are a tiny bit spicy and one of my fav’s too.

  • Of course you were missed! Looks like you all had fun! Mmmmm, fish and chips.

  • P.S. I really enjoyed Twilight and am now reading New Moon. :)

  • @ocelot61 -

I feel so special that you were saving credits for the BIG bouquet just for me. Thanks!

  • Thanks for those great pics and updates! Ghosty looks like she is having a wonderful time and I can see that your kids have grown up a lot since you left. We are ejoying paradise here in FLA and don’t want to leave on Sat.!! We still miss you all so much.

  • I want to hold a pigeon!!! And I love that first picture. The background and the lighting and the faces are all so lovely.

  • Hooray for pictures! It looks like you guys had a great time. I love the one of Ghosty and the Tower, it puts the landmark in context, rather than keeping it as the focus of the photo. Kind of funny that you “ran out of time” at Big Ben Tower.

The states were pretty good in the past week. My mother got an offer to expand her business space and my brother is nearly done his movie for our local film festival. Glad you returned!

  • Silly question…of course we missed you!!

  • Thanks so much for the wonderful pics, and for taking SUCH good care of ghostie!

  • I’m ignoring my children who aren’t even supposed to be awake right now… Daddy’s on  his way back from ice fishing with a friend (a 1st for him!) which took way longer than he claimed it would (the story of our lives, eh!) — oo! I sound so negative and bitter!  I’m not really bitter… & I’m being silly about the rest… it’s so hard to tell in the written word, sometimes!  BUT, I AM rambling!! That, I must confess with all honesty!!

O.k., where was I…. OH!  YES! I did miss you!! Not because I knew you were gone, but, because I’ve been so… gone!  You are such a faithful writer and I am just a dabbler!  A dabbler and a rambler… oh, mercy me!  I hope you’re enjoying my “saying of nothing” here.  I get that way sometimes when actual responses to questions are just too much for me to grapple with.  Ooo-hooo!! A dabbler, a rambler, AND a grappler!!! Oh, I love this!  It’s getting better (or worse?) all the time!! Now I just have to be a babbler and a tottler and I’ll be all set and I’m SURE I qualify for the babbler position!  …You know, the insane are always so amusing to themselves!!

I love your pictures.  Really!  All of them!  I adored your post on the stupid questions… that was just classic!  I get so many of those, but, I thought they’d grow out of it after the age of 12… guess not!  I don’t recall any of them right now, but, when we went to the Peter Pan ballet recently (stop me if I’ve told you this one already), my 10 year old, after watching the first few minutes of the hand motions with no speaking, turned to me and said, “They’re speaking in ‘Ballet’.”… how cute!

I’m so glad you’ve had some company from the states.  How cool!  Love those pigeons on the girls’ hands!

My week is getting better!  This Saturday is the Book Fair around here & it will be my first time going!  Tomorrow is Friday, and that’s always a relief, too.  Now, I really have to go…. ta-ta!

  • I did miss you.  I’m glad you had a good time with your company.

  • YES!! We have missed you! It looks like you have had a lot of fun this week, however! I tried to call you today, hope you were all out and about having MORE fun. It was great to see my little girl on your blog.

Can we steal Rachel tomorrow at about noon? Let me know~

  • Love the pics! More wonderful memories evoked by all.

My students had 2 solid days of testing this week. Rather grueling for 4th graders if you ask me. Texas is all about its testing. (one of the reasons I refuse to teach here…I’m an aide/specialist rather than THE teacher.) I starting reading The Other Boleyn Girl this week. I both started and finished reading CS Lewis’ Horse and His Boy…It’s now my favorite Narnia book. The Boleyn book is quite the page-turner, though hard to stomach how manipulative all the characters are in the English court. It’s a fun way to brush up on British history and will go nicely with your photos on your site!

I have a brother who moved to the other side of TX with his wife and 2yr old, Cody. They are expecting another baby. The cesarean is scheduled for Tues, so I get to drive there (8hrs) and take care of Cody while they are in the hospital. It’s so cool for me to live this near family. I’ve been half way around the world for so long. It’s fun to be an aunt in person and not just via gifts and holidays!

  • I bet you guys had a GREAT week!  Hey I tagged you.  You have to come to my blog to check it out!

  • Of Course we missed ya.. wait, you were gone? just kidding. Thanks for the pics.

  • Yes, yes, I did notice and lovely pics once again! :D

  • Sorry to hear about your Grandpa.  My friend Amy’s Mom passed away that same day.

Sounds like you had some good  fun with your visitors.  I’m sure you were a tremendous tour guide.  I can relate to the old woman feeling!!  We’re not even 40 yet!  I thought with all the walking you’ve been doing you would be a she-woman in the endurance department!

  • First off- If I read your prior entry correctly, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your grandfather. If I misunderstood your post- please accept my apologies. (smile)

Your friends look as though they are having a marvelous tour of England…and loving being with their host. :)

Your pictures only make my heart ache because I would SO LOVE to be there!!!! :)

And so sorrowfully I must admit that I really didn’t notice your absence, only because I’ve been swamped with the Homeshow preparations and runnign the homeshow…and now taking it down and putting it all into storage. It’s all firmly behind me…and life can get back to a hectic jog rather than a full blast run. (LOL)

  • You can tell David that I just passed all four idiot tests.  I even did the entire red button thing, laughing like crazy the whole time.  Can you tell I’m a little bored tonight?

  • We all missed you. I hope you’re having fun and not getting too tired.

  • Hi!  I was just playing around here in Xangaland and thought, “Hey! I wonder what TeacherPerson is doing & if she’s posted lately?!”  So… here I am!

The other day I figured out that you are 4 hours ahead of us which means… you’re in bed right now & won’t be chatting with me for at least several more hours!  It’s about 10pm here & I was just wanting to talk!  I need some hot tea and c.c. cookies really bad!  Hmmm.  Maybe I’ll make some tea and read another chapter in my Outrageous Mercy book.  There will be a book club meeting on the 28th & there’s only 11 chapters, but, each one is so much to “chew” on that I only want to read, at the most, one chapter a day.  I’m averaging one every other day, however.  God is really doing so much in my heart through that book, it’s just amazing… I love it!

Hey, speaking of c.c. cookies… do you have a recipe for some really good ones that are more of a scone/shortbread consistancy?  I know they can be made, I used to get them from a coffee shop around here called Beaners & they were the yummiest in the world!  Now, they closed the one near me and changed their name to…. ? Briggby’s? or something like that?

O.k…. I’ll stop talking to you while you’re trying to sleep…  ;P  See ya!! AJ
