  • Thinking of You

It’s pretty common for me to think of my Xanga friends throughout the day. I’ll see a band performing in the streets of Cambridge and think, “I wonder if leadwoodfolk has ever done a street concert?” Or I’ll notice yet again that the label on something I’m eating her in England has “suitable for vegetarians” on it and muse how much easier that would be for ElizabethDNB. When I see anything involving medieval weapons, I imagine what arohk might say about it. Or, I’ll ponder how aj1965 is getting along or if TheTheologiansCafe might enjoy that news article or how mamaglop’s classes are or how MelissaWRN’s brother-in-law is doing or…(honestly, I could list every one of the people whose blogs I read).

Yet, when my blog friends mention they thought of me in the course of their regular lives, I am always surprised.

Do you often think of your Xanga friends when you are not on Xanga?

  • Awww!!!  I don’t go away long enough (very often) to miss Xanga.  Pathetic little life I lead.

  • This sounds terrible but no.

  • @TheTheologiansCafe -

Dan,I know that you think of me when you see seeds!

  • Yes ,I think of my Xanga friends often!

  • Yea, I do for some things that I know that they will like this or that.. Or books I have read that some people will read. :)

  • I do indeed! Including you!

  • I’m on xanga a lot, but when I was in Africa I continually wanted to connect to xanga.

  • Sorry to break the trend of true members commenting…I enjoy being one of the great untrue.

I think of Xanga friends when I’m not on Xanga occasionally. Mostly when something specifically reminds me of them. (anything related to Pluto or the Colts makes me think of Aimee, anything related to the UK makes me think of you, etc.)

  • Oh my goodness do I ever.  Now all my Xanga friends are old Penn State friends, but still.

Example:  I’m going to ask TP if “Robert The Bruce” really was a real king in England, or is El Mano tricking me into name our son a ridiculous name (and no I’m not pregnant).

  • yeah i do! xanga is the coolest.
i actually became really good friends with 2 people on xanga
and i talk to them once in awhile on the phone :)

  • I find it odd to admit this but yes I do think of my Xanga friends. :)

  • @TheTheologiansCafe -  Dan, you have to be away from Xanga to think about Xanga people when you’re not on Xanga.

I do tend to think of my Xanga friends when I’m not online.

  • Oh yes, all the time! But pretty much all of my Xanga friends I’ve met in real life, or otherwise know outside of Xanga.

A while ago I saw “The Complete Works of Jane Austen” at Barnes and Noble and I thought you would probably love to have that. And yesterday, someone at church was talking about one time she and her sister visited England, and different customs and things, and I thought about you.

I also call people by their xanga names outside of xanga…

  • I’m with rjdohner…since all of my Xanga friends are all State College friends of ours, yes, we think of you often!

  • Oh, and did I ever tell you that I have family in London (aunt & uncle, and a few cousins)?  You might have fun catching up to them sometime, if you’re looking for someone to meet in London.

  • Yes, I know what you mean.  I think of my xanga friends when I am out and about and see something interesting.  I’ll think…”I have to tell — about this”  or ” — would get a kick out of that”.  I do think of you but usually through a green haze…………hahahahaha

  • Yes I do think of my Xanga friends a lot. I wish I could meet more of them.

Hope you’re having a good day.

  • i read on an other site you weere trying for the free 100,000 goal so here is a little help.

  • Since I’m not on Xanga much anymore, I do think of you from time to time.  Looks like you all are having a great time over there.  Thanks for keeping us updated.

  • Yes, I do, even when I am not on so much right now. I thought of YOU when I saw this today…hope this works!

  • NOPE! IT didn’t!!! Wrong one!!! Will try again!

  • I just went ahead and posted it on my blog…I KNOW how to do that! LOL! It is cute and funny…and involves cheese…

  • yea, i think of them often. =)

  • Yes, I do. I was reading about medieval cuisine the other day and I wondered if you were running into similar things in England (I hope not, it sounded kind of gross).

I have played on the street before. You can pretty much just play the same song over and over again.

  • I too think of my xanga friends away from xanga — quite often in fact!

  • I think about them all the time. It’s like having imaginary friends, since (for the most part) nobody else in my life knows about them. My mom does, but she always gets them confused with each other.

So be surprised, because I think about you a lot, too.

  • I think xanga just ate my comment. A pox on it.

  • Oh wait, there it goes. Maybe it was just tardy because two other people were commenting at the same time as me.

  • most of the people whose xanga i read are already known to me, and i do think about them in other areas of life. some i’ve found online, but haven’t actually met yet (like you). i try not to spend lots of time on the computer, because it distracts me from my other “necessary” things at home, and keeps my attention away from my kiddos, who don’t always appreciate the time i spend online. that’s why lots of time i’m on at bedtime…. after they’re in bed, but before i wind down enough to sleep!

  • I’m with your first commenter…I’m not away long enough.  I don’t have a life.

hey, I’m wondering how you did your box off to the left with the links of your books.  Is that a Custom Module?  I’d like to do one, but I really don’t know how….I’m learning!

  • I think of my xanga friends sometimes, but lately writing.com’s been on my mind more. I probably think of some online happening at least once a day.

  • I think of you when I eat chocolate chip cookies with tea or read/watch anything “Austen”!  In fact, whenever I finish a good book, I think:  “I wonder if Teacherperson has read/would like this book?”… then, to the first part of the question, I answer, “Of course she has!!”.

What’s really bad, though, is when see my friends and I can’t remember their REAL names and start to call them by their Xanga names….  “Hey, Retro….um, I mean Cheryl!!”

……. looking at seed & plant catalogs!!

  • Oh yes!  I think about them a lot.  One of them is you.  I am so flattered for the mention in this blog.  I had a difficult week, and messed up one of the four tests in Research Statistics.  I don’t know what was going on, I completely forgot an assignment in that class as well.  Two more weeks until the quarter is done!

  • Yes, I do – though many of them are old friends who live far away now. It can be sightly awkward when I’ll relate some info I learned or a story of a Xanga friend and have to explain how I know the person to a non-blogger. Sometimes I feel like that with characters in a book – though that is only one way communication. Have you ever started to pray for a favorite character that’s going through a hard time and caught yourself? That’s embarrassing.
