A Lot and then Some More
Boy, this packing stuff is bothersome. Don’t get me wrong; I’ll gladly do the packing for the reward of the trip. But, knowing what to take isn’t so easy. Right now, I have one of my two suitcases almost entirely full of crafts to do while there, office supplies, card games, bathroom things, a few books, and not much more. Yikes! I do have to take clothes, shoes, and 109 pounds of school books (we weighed all of them). I’m glad that each of us get two suitcases and two carry-ons.
Today was the day for assembling all non-clothes items we wanted to take. Monday is Pack the Clothes. Tuesday is Finalize the House and Leave for my Mom’s. Wednesday is Go to the Airport and Fly Away. Unfortunately, not one day is set aside as Read the Blogs of my Friends and Comment. Forgive me?What thing or things would be essential in your suitcase?
PS–I’ve got the best husband in the world. Not only did he make supper, he brought mine to me as I’m working on the computer (not just Xanga). And, he poured my Diet Coke into a glass.

1. Love the profile picture.
2. Gonna miss you… even though I don’t see you frequently, the thought of you being across the ocean seems strange.
3. I hope you get everything packed without losing your head.
4. Make sure you give me your England address once you’re settled.
5. =)
As long as I have the medicine I take (mostly antacid) then I can roll with just about anything.
Don’t forget the camera! I didn’t notice that on your list. We want to be able to see what kinds of adventures you all are up to!
Happy packing!
Have so much fun!!! This is exciting! I’d want my !Pod, my journal and a good book to read on the plane on the way over.
Essential items? Bible, Cross-stitch, Camera, and something to read that is nice and light.
I don’t envy you the packing. I’ve done that often enough. I do hope you find time to read and comment once you get there.
Aw, shucks!
Wow! Mr. Hubby is starting 2008 right!!!! You are blessed!
Have a fun trip!
Wow, you leaving again!! Good luck with that one.. I never did care for packing.. I usually pack for one suitcase and one carry on then I’m all done. I’ll miss you so please come back soon to Xanga when you have some free time..
Can’t wait to hear your report from across the pond! And lots of pictures! Bon voyage!
Several good books, Bible, crosstitch. You’ve got a great husband, just like mine! Safe travel, keep us informed.
I was only allowed 2 suitcases for my 6 month stay in England, as well. We were volunteer missionaries.
Wow. I can’t believe you’re leaving already! I hope y’all have a terrific trip!! Don’t get so settled in England that you forget to come home now, y’hear?! One of these years I want to bring Jonathan up to State College for a visit.
RYC: And what’s with tractor square dancing? Do they do that at the Farm Show? I didn’t notice it on the schedule, but then, I wasn’t looking for it either.
I hope you give him a big mushy kiss! I understand you are not able to post or comment much. I hope we will hear from you once you get settled. I thought I would get caught up with all the xangans this Christmas break, but competition for computer time was fierce with the house full.
Have a good trip.
RYC: you know, I tried really hard to come up with a self-made word that even approached being as good as tintennabulation, but it just didn’t come. I agree–it’s an awesome word!
I am very much looking forward to enjoying your British adventure through your blog. Do keep us updated. I hope you can share some of the language and cultural differences, because I love that stuff.
As for what to take–just make sure you get everything that isn’t readily replaceable–most things you can buy if you forget them, after all!
I am getting so excited for you!
I am dressing for church and trying to think of what I would need to take with me on an extended trip. This list is sooooo long! But be sure to remember the camera. That is more for us staying here at home than for you! hahahaha
Have a wonderful trip! I’m sure I’ll be jealous of Kim as spring break draws near. Oh well, it’s probably best for me to save my money for now. But as long as she and you post lots of photos, I think I’ll survive!
109 pounds? Sheesh. Still, I admire your ability to sort through all those books. That must have been a chore….yikes!
I never thanked you for the wonderful, wonderful time Sadie and I on New Years. Your party is definitly one of the highlights of our season. ^_^ Thanks so much for all the hard work you did in getting ready for the masses.
Have fun on your trip! Right now I’m trying to convince myself it would NOT be a wise financial choice for me to buy a plane ticket over spring break and come crash your England party. I’m not doing a very good job of it, I’m afraid….
I always have the worst time packing and figuring out what to bring…
hehe 109 pounds of books!
I love it!! hehe..
Aw! You do have an amazing husband!
Glad you liked the boomerang joke. Have fun on your trip. The thing that was essential for me to pack was the Christmas gift from Corey that I agreed not to open until I left.
Aww…that is very sweet of your hubby! Hmm…what to have?…ipod, journal, colorful pens, Bible, amazing books, and….CAMERA!!! Hope you have a wonderful time.
True amusement is scarce. That’s one reason I visit your site.
Favorite item when traveling? A moneybelt–only the ones that Rick Steves sells will do! I do very much hope that you will keep blogging when you’re gone– We want to live vicariously through you, Mary, and your photos are so very nice. AND otherwise, we will miss you dreadfully!
Wow! I didn’t realize you were leaving so soon! No wonder you’re already de-Christmassed. I was going to sympathize for you, but I can see the necessity of it this year. Enjoy your trip! 2 months, right? Wow! Keep us posted on all your happenings; I enjoyed all your pics & updates last time you were on the other side of the big pond.
Haha, yes Mrs. Sellers, I will try to do my part to make xanga come alive again… =) At least my site, that is.
Oh my goodness…I’m trying to feel sorry for you having to pack and sort…but for some reason sympathy simply escapes me!!! YOUR GOING TO LIVE IN ENGLAND!!! WOOO-HOOOO! (lol)
I’d mainly worry about big ticket items (laptop, camera, video recorder, etc…) clothes and little things can be purchased there if necessary.
I am so insanely happy for your family to be able to do this adventure. I’d about give anything to be able to do what your doing.
Have fun packing…….can’t wait to hear from you as soon as you’ve arrived safe and sound.

DIET COKE IN A GLASS??? Wow! He is a treasure!
Happy packing!
