CRASH!
Today, we went out to lunch at Wendy’s with the Kroekers. We were all sitting around enjoying our Frosties when–CRASH! A big, white truck (larger than a U-Haul) hit the corner of the restaurant and ripped off part of the roof overhang! The man knew he did it. He stopped his truck with a look of “Aw, man!” (or something a bit more profane). Then he drove to the side of the store where we thought he would park and get out. All of a sudden, he hit the gas and fled to the next parking lot.
“Someone should get his license plate number,” I said.
“123 XXXX (whatever),” Hunter piped up.
The Wendy’s manager came running from the back, his earphone dangling. “That guy went to the next parking lot,” we told him. With the look of a panicked deer, Manager Man ran from the store. He returned, dejected and white-truckless.
“We got his license number,” we said and handed him the yellow napkin with the convicting numbers and letters.
About 15 minutes later, the police came. Hunter got to give evidence to the license number, and dance4aneternity described the driver. It was our own personal episode of COPS. But, playing Password after was more fun and less damaging, unless you count the dents to bkroeker’s competitive spirit.
Tomorrow is the big to-do at our house. Care to take a guess as to the number of people we will have this year? Last year we had 121. What do you think this year will bring?

What a duh!! And he was expecting to get away with it.. Geez.. It will bound catch up with him.. Good thing yall had his license plate number written down to give it to police officer.. That sounds way more exciting than my day..
Guess: 150 people
hmmm….125! Wish we were there, miss you guys! Happy New Year!
It truly was an exciting day! Fun with the Kroekers, especially Password. What a hoot! But I must admit my disappointment that the officer took Hunter’s and Dance4AnEternity’s names, birth dates, etc., but not mine! I wanted to be on COPS also! Oh, well.
A guess for tomorrow night’s attendance - well, 121 is 11*11, so I would either have to guess 132 (which is the next multiple of 11) or 144 (can anyone guess why 144?).
It was fun having you all over! And yes, the Wendy’s event certainly made for an interesting lunch. Looking forward to the big bash tomorrow!
Hmm, and a guess… hmmmm, this is hard….. how about 130 guests? There have to be at least as many as last year. Make sure you tally the exact number and let us know!
Dents to my competitive spirit?? Ha! We shall have our revenge!
How do you explain that hit and run to an officer? Just glad you guys weren’t sitting at the corner table!
I know you will be busy tomorrow getting ready for your party. Sounds like fun!
Oh I forgot….thanks for the scripture, Deut. 32:2. Such a beautiful description.
Post pics of the crowd!
Teacher’s have so many friends.
My guess for the number of people at your house will be 114
OMG!!! Now that would make for one exciting lunch!!!! haha
I’m looking forward to the big partay tonight!!! That’s always a ton of fun!!
Oh My Goodness! That was a close encounter, wasn’t it?
I am going to guess 119½. Hahahahaha
wow. You always have tons of comments!
Oh Em Gee! I bet that is something you want forget!
Umm….lets see how many people??? 215 people. Idk?
I’m am going to guess 127. By the way, feel free to hide any of the nice looking, size 9 shoes. It was to hard to shoe shop from the picture of the pile last year.
TGD 144 is 12*12 which is the next number after 11*11 so…is that why you guessed 144?
Yeah i’m going to try. I just need to get a ride
I’m guessing you’ll have even more people this year since you’ll be heading off to England so soon. Everybody will miss you!!
I am going to guess 135. That truck incident was very strange I must admit…………but it was pretty interesting. You are going to have to take a picture of the shoes again, just to prove that we actually had/will have over 100 people at our house, (hopefully).

Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2008
you’re a brave woman to have that many people at your house…. but we’re attending a big party tomorrow, and over 100 people have been invited to that family’s house, too. so…. hats off to brave people, i guess!
happy 2008.
glad you weren’t hurt in that accident. and glad for observant eyes to be able to remember details to pass on to police officers. when that guy gets caught, he may regret not doing the right thing the first time…..
Wow! That’s wild! Have a GREAT time at your party! I hope you have LOADS of friends who show up! Happy New Year!
Wow! That’s . . . exciting? Good thing you guys got the license number . . . I trust they’ll track down the wreckless driver and hold him accountable.
Happy New Year’s Eve! Have fun.
And you were concerned you’d make the worst list? Psh, that’s absurd.
I hope your party is tons of fun tonight! I’ll be living it up with about five different kinds of pop, my five dozen dvds, and of course, my very dear books. Not sure yet if I will watch movies, read, or maybe just go to bed. But at any rate, I am sure it will be a splendid night.
Happy New Year… and I hope your England preparations are going well. I will be able to mail you stuff once you’re settled over there, right?
Wow. What an experience! That sounds like fun! Okay, maybe my sense of humor is warped, but it does!
Hehe, comment box frustration.
Happy New Year to you, too!
I’ll be keeping an eye out for you next time that I tune into COPS! Have fun tonight…I’m thinking that 144 comes from 12*12…am I right?!?
I am very impressed with Hunter’s presence of mind to get the license number. Also with his vision. I would be too surprised to think about it before the car was out of range, I think. I have tried to get the license of other miscreants and not been able to read them.
