The Teacher Returneth
My sincerest apologies to all my dear Xanga friends for ignoring your blog entries. Instead of having fellowship in cyberspace, I was visiting in real life with a Xanga buddy, AimeeAnne. She arrived Friday night and left this morning. In between, we had a lovely time doing all the things I like doing–shopping for books, eating out, watching movies, talking, playing Book Lover’s Trivial Pursuit… I believe she enjoyed all of them just as much. (Except maybe not the Trivial Pursuit.) It was a great treat to find a friend who thinks that going from library to used bookstore to regular bookstore to home to play pinochle and watch a video makes an excellent day. It was a thoroughly satisfying visit, and I was sad to see her go. She gave me the most beautiful box brimming with a gorgeous array of notecards as a parting gift, which softened the blow of leave-taking.

In other around the house news, LittleMiss and LibbyK made a nifty gingerbread house.
One memory I love is of the first year we made a gingerbread house. (Yes, a kit from Wal-Mart, just like this one.) It sat around long after Christmas, as things of that sort do, until it was time to get rid of it.“Hey, can we beat it with hammers?” asked one of my gentle-hearted children. (I think it was Wit.)
“Sure!” said their equally-tender mother. So, the kids all grabbed beating utensils and had at it in the garage. What fun.
We are also watching Molly Dog while her parents are on vacation. Gockle is having a wonderful time. His allergies are running rampant, but he considers the sneezing sacrifice worth every moment of Molly time. She seems to appreciate it as well. Can’t you tell from the look on her little, furry face?
What’s a good caption for this picture?

“As in… I wonder what happened to the Oneders?”
How about “Hmmmm…..”?
Not hand foot and mouth. Nothing on feet or in mouth. He was checked for that too. Also Kawasaki disease–but no sign of that either, thankfully. (Shingles is much better.)
I love going to the bookstore! I could waste hours in there and be content,
God bless you.
“Their hands will never give them away! That’s because they use new Joy dishwashing liquid, guaranteed to be gentle!”
Now, did you know one another before this rendezvous?
RYC: I liked Sleepy Hollow.
As for my cholesterol, my body makes too much. I eat right probably 90% of the time. Plus I exercise 5 to 6 times a week. Thus, I do a lot of the right things, but my body does not. My count came back and it wasn’t good again. Boo!
That is so awesome you got to meet and spend time together. That must have made for a great time. Now all of your friends are going to think you are one of those crazy people who meets people on the internet. Haha.
How neat!! There are a couple of Xangans that live near me that I would love to get together with but just haven’t made the effort. You’ve inspired me to do that!
Hey, I like your background. Very Christmassy! I want to make sure that I greet you a very Merry Christmas. May we all remember the reason why and who we are celebrating this holiday for—-Jesus Christ our Savior.

Isn’t it a surreal feeling to meet a xangan in real life? It’s awesome. It sounds like you guys had a wonderful time together.
I’ve always wanted to make a gingerbread house, ever since I watched this show on Foodnetwork about a gingerbread competition where people were making extrodinarily complex gingerbread mansions that looked like dollhouses. They were amazing! So, thus inspired, I tried to make one a couple years ago but didn’t have a good recipe for icing that actually stuck and held, so my house continually crumbled. I want to try it again sometime when I find just the right recipe.
Love you!
sounds like you had a good weekend!!
haha that would be quite entertaining to watch as the gingerbread got smashed to pieces! Although, I must say, I am more of a fan of eating the house! Just kinda walk by, grab a piece……hope mom didn’t catch you eating TOO many… lol
Yeah! Let’s beat it with a hammer! Such boy words!
why, thanks very much! Many innocent light bulbs were sacrificed to give us that now erected lightshow….
What a fun post and great pics! And lucky you, both of you, to get to meet IRL!
Welcome back! Glad that you were enjoying a fun visit.
Beat a gingerbread house with hammers? :0 hahahahaha
Sounds like great fun except pinochle……I don’t know how to play. I love gin, backgammon and lots of games, but I never learned pinochle or cribbage.
I’ve not been getting around to others blogs as well, don’t feel bad.
A caption for your picture? How about Trivial Poses? I’m not very creative……
Haven’t made a gingerbread house in a long time….. maybe next year.
Oh sure! Spend time with your real time friends instead of us!
That sounds like my ideal day! Except I’ve never played Pinochle, but any game will do.

It looks like you had a good time :0)
I’m sorry if I confused you; when I write “A/P” that refers to anatomy and physiology, which is not nearly as fun as advanced placement.
Caption “So where did they put that gingerbread house?” moohaaaa!!!!!
