  • Little Women

Both performances were great fun, and the cast and crew did a fabulous job!  I’ll spare you the thousand words (I’m saving those for my novel) and will give you pictures instead.

The intrepid director and adapter of the novel, the amazing Miss AE B and Amy

EatYourWeightInCheesePuffs, who was responsible for all the more-than amazing costumes you’ll see (actually sewed ‘um with her mum)

Dashing and Debonair, Professor Frederick Bhaer (NatetheHunter)

GhostFroggy, the aged housekeeper with a killer accent, Hannah

    The Men of Little Women
John Brooke, Mr. March, Servant, Mr. Laurence, Professor Bhaer, and Theodore Laurence

    Melchi–er, Aunt March

John Brooke, Professor Bhaer (Hunter), and Teddy Laurence

The Little Women with their Marmee
Amy, Meg, Marmee, Jo, and Beth

Amy and Laurie–Wouldn’t you just about commit highway robbery for that dress and hat?

Beth with her funeral flowers…er, her congratulatory flowers

The Little Women– Meg, Beth (BlueSmurfGirl), Amy, and Jo (KleineKatze)

Best fireplace in the whole world and its “masons,” M and E

    So, we’re done, right?

And, there was the amazing stage crew, who wasn’t interested in being photographed, but who did a bang-up job nonetheless!

    Kudos to all!

  • Oh, it looks so good from the pics. It makes me anxious to do another play this summer at our new house. Last summer we had to do it in my sisters garage because of the move. But alas, I am not sure that we will do one this summer, my man wants me to take a sorely needed real summer break. We shall see if I can use my feminine charms to persuade him to change his mind. Congrats on your great play!!

  • I should have known you were going to put that pic of me on here….

btw, however did you get Scott to have his pic taken with those glasses on? ;^)

  • The costumes are looking very good!!  I sure wish I could attend the show to see it. :)   If only.. If only you guys are not so far away.. :)

  • Looks great and such wonderful costumes!

  • Costumes look great & so do the actors!  We did Little Women of Orchard House a few years ago at our old co-op.  Dara (my oldest) played Hannah.

ryc:  Actually, I looked a lot like Ivanna when I was around her age, so you could almost say it was a picture of me.

  • Oh yeah, the reason I cut her hair shorter on one side than the other was because it was easier than making both sides even. lol  No, seriously, when I was in school, one of the girls in my class did that & I thought it looked cute.  I cut Emily’s like that once when she was much younger (only without the bangs), & she looked cute, too.

  • Wow!   So um…why haven’t bustles come back in style?  Everyone looked GREAT and looked like they had fun!

  • Yes, I certainly look as though I’ve eaten my weight in cheese puffs, don’t I?

  • And I do believe that “my” first post on this list was actually the Smurf. She does have the habit of borrowing one’s laptop…

  • Those costumes are amazing!  I especially like Aunt March’s.  That is a heady feeling to have successfully completed a run of a play.  I remember some wonderful theater moments around here and wistfully wishing there was a way to make theater production a little less transitory.

Prima played the role of Beth in a community theater production here when she was a young teen.  She went to practice with my mother who played Aunt March.

  • You’ve been “tagged”! See my Monday post!

  • Wow~  If their performance was as good as the costumes, it must have been terrific!  I am impressed.  And it just looks SO fun.  I wish I had the ambition to rustle up a play!

  • That looks like fun! Wouldn’t it be great to be able to go back to school and just spend all of your time putting on theater productions?  Thanks for the suggestion about lemons, lol, it makes sense. I think I’ll look around for one of those miniature ornage or lemon trees and put it in my kitchen!

  • What great fun! Thanks for showing us the pictures!

  • I’m sure it was absolutely awesome…the costumes are fantastic (and the fireplace, of course)!!  I wish I could have heard Kim’s accent. lol

  • congratulations!  :)   (your costumes look amazing!  did you sew them or rent them?)

  • Those are spectacular costumes!  You’re saying ONE person made them ALL??? That’s just not RIGHT!!!  ;D  I’m so jealous & love the pictures & wish I could have gone with you!

Today, my husband is picking up & splitting wood with a friend, so, I sent three of the girls with him & have only one at home!  She is doing some math tests and I’m supposed to be working on areas of catastrophic need in the house….. so far, I’ve worked on a crocheting project (tieing knots in the end of some fringe so it doesn’t fray), read my emails, graded a test, went over the test with C., & checked my xanga…… not all what I’m supposed to do.

Gotta go….. maybe I can work on the sunroom for a while & get some craft stuff transfered into the “rolling plastic cart with drawers” thingy I recently bought.  If not, maybe I can finally get my summer clothes put away?!!  Maybe even have lunch! ha! Later!

  • It was nice of everyone to tell me that we were supposed to SMILE for that pic! Gah, I look like an idiot!!!

  • Indeed I would commit highway robbery for Amy’s dress and hat!! Gorgeous. I played Amy in a little women play once, but I was not so priveledged to wear an outfit like that.

And I’m gaining up on you in the wordcount. Slowly, but surely

  • They all look fabulous, and it looks like it was great fun! Congratulations to all.

  • Looks very nice!  Glad to hear it was a success.

  • Ha ha, a mom driving a minivan, way to reject stereotyping…oh yeah there’s the job writing math books, and the P&P encyclopedic knowledge, and the trip to G.B… and the homeschool.  Is homeschooling avant guard anymore?

  • Love the pics!!!  I’ll try and get you a disk of all mine tomorrow.

  • Haaaaaethan is my herrooooo!!

  • Great pictures!  Wish that we could have been there too.

RYC: Ha ha!!  Jersey Junior was only 22 pounds at his 2 year appointment.  Oh well.

  • they all did a wonderful job!!!  And that dress!  AH!!   Need I say more??

  • Great photos, Mary! God bless you and have a great Thanksgiving.

  • It looks like everyone had a great time. I love plays. I wish there was something like that around here for my kids. I know they would have a blast.

  • You always share such wonderful pictures!  Thanks.

This week will be very busy and so if I don’t get a chance later in the week:  ♫ Happy Thanksgiving ♫

  • Nate’s looking quite stylish, as always.

  • I always imagined the professor as kind of tubby. Oh well, there are only certain lengths you should go to in order to prepare for a part. Is he able now to get out a fiddle and sing laments of the Fatherland in a way that would make any German proud?
