  • Surprise and Delight

Today was a tedious day–very little of it at home, hours of it in the car.  I’m not even done with the taxi service yet as I have to pick up Hunter and Wit from Little Women practice. This means no bubble bath and book until around 10:00.  Boo.

Speaking of books, my novel is coming along well enough. Today is the first day that I’m not forcing myself to make the word limit (which is about 1,700 words a day). I wrote 143 and am saying, “NaNo NaNo Boo-Boo” to it.  So there.

AimeeAnne is the one who “made” me take on this challenge (for which I am profoundly grateful and have named a village after her).  What did this dear lady do which made me squeal for joy today?  I got my mail and found this!

It’s my very own NaNoWriMo canvas tote!

I was thrilled. I am a huge fan of canvas bags. I am an addict, admirer, aficionado, buff, devotee, enthusiast, fiend, freak, lover, votary, and zealot when it comes to tote bags. I am a happy lady. Plus, it’s really wide–wide enough for my laptop to fit in it.

What nice thing has happened to you lately?

  • 1,700 words a day seems like a lot.

  • Very nice indeed. Are you going to let me read it? Nice thing….I got this delightful book about Beatrix Potter’s world from Amazon today. I find it inspiring.

  • Hi, wondering if you received my e-mail re classical schooling.   No pressure to respond to the e-mail; I’m just somewhat ocd I guess about sending mail off into the wild blue cyber–I obsess about whether I should send it again; did I wind up in the spam folder; whether the person I responded to thinks I’m ignoring her because she never got the mail I sent; I’m sure there’s a medical term for this condition.

  • That’s very nice looking canvas bag!! :)    Nicest thing someone ever gave me??  Oh I got a shirt that was from Austraila unexpected.. Far, Far away and I need to give her a shirt from Lousiana..  That was very neat thing to do. Swamp shirts. :)

1,700 a day is alot. I agree with Dan.. Where do you find the time plus doing other stuff??  Are you being superhero? *laughing*

  • Surprises is the mail are so much fun.

I just wanted to say that I so enjoy reading all your updates – my moments of sanity in a sometimes insane world. Much love from my laptop to yours…

  • One busy day!   I go for the bubble bath, no matter how late it is.   (I just finished voice practice, and it’s 10:53 p.m.  I guess you can tell we’re night owls??)

I didn’t realize Hunter and Wit were in Little Women…I guess I’ve been rather ignorant lately.   What parts do they have?

Something nice recently…I got excellent grades from Mrs. R two timed essays in a row, I survived my vet’s interview, and I did about six or eight fuate pirouettes in dance before falling over.

  • The nicest thing so far this week was my bible study group on Monday.  Did I tell you we are doing the book of Daniel with Beth Moore’s help.  WOW……………….it has been great.

  • Nice bag.  Lots of words to write.  But when it comes, it comes and pours.

I havenĀ“t been around for a while.  I just want to stop by and say hello and may you have a wonderful and blessed day today.

  • Ack!!  That’s just like my mom.  She has so many tote bags that I can never find anything in them…

A nice thing that happened to me lately is that I was on my way to the library to pick up a copy of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, but there was a cheap book sale at the thrift store and I bought a nice hardcover instead. =D  I also got The Screwtape Letters (one C.S. Lewis paperback that I didn’t own), Wuthering Heights, and a couple others.  Hurrah for thrift stores!!

  • Nice things?  We decided to have pie for breakfast this morning.  It doesn’t get much better than that!

I am way into bags too.  What a sweet thing for AA to do for you.

  • Now that is good motivation to win. If someone sent me a NaNoWriMo 2007 bag and I lost, I would feel awful taking it around with me and having people ask about it for years afterwards and me saying “yeah, I didn’t quite make it that year…”

Ah ha! Now I know your word count strategy. Use every descriptive word possible when describing something. I’ll have to keep that in mind…

  • perfectly applicable bag!

the pics are from a NYC trip last weekend… my camera unfortunately ran out of battery life at the beginning of the conference, and I had forgotten to bring my charger… so no San Diego pictures…  :{   (how do you like my nice SD/mexican-mustached emoticon?)    Both were neat trips though…

Don’t forget to take batteries / chargers for your trip next year….  :)

  • Yay!  It is always so fun to get a surprise in the mail…enjoy your bag!!

  • for sure indeed, one of my late-night i-dont-know-what-to-do-with-myselfs. Glad you liked it!

  • Robert took care of ALL Brie duties tonight, while I went out for a coffee treat!

  • That was a thoughtful gift!  Am I the only one who has wondered this, or the only one clueless enough not to know:  what does na.no.wrt.mo stand for?  I get the wri.mo.  I think.

  • So you did :) . Nice to see you here. That is a great bag.

  • I love canvas bags as well. That’s a nice one. =)

I’m expecting a book in the mail from a friend I met on a messagboard. I am eager to get it and dive right in!

  • I like tote bags too…and my thesaurus.

  • I am a fan of tote bags too. I actually bought a really neat one last week. Something nice? I made myself a wonderful cup of apple cinnamon tea, and actually sat down to enjoy it.

  • Hello there,

I’ve been reading some of your previous posts and I saw your request for good plot ideas. You should DEFINITELY put something in there that has to do with cabbages. I can’t remember EVER reading a book that had cabbages in it and not enjoying it. I am SO serious. It would make your story awsome!

(you know who I am, right? If not ask Linaldawen.)
