I’m busily tapping away at my NaNoWriMo novel–5271 words, not counting the 10,000 or so I had before I started. I feel like a day trader, except it’s not my stock portfolio increasing by leaps and bounds, it’s my word count!

Lovely day, today. I went out to breakfast with MaineLady and then all day shopping with her and LibbyK and Mel and IcePrincess.  Plus, I had a coupon for 40% off everything at Christopher and Banks! (Thanks, FluteMom38!)  This evening, TGD and I went out to dinner at Outback Steakhouse. I was starved, so the meal was particularly tasty.  Now, I’m back home, ready to type more of my story. I have about 1300 more words required for tonight. It doesn’t matter if they are good words, but they have to be written.

DandelionBall wrote a comment a few days ago on my site. “I just visited momof4boys .  She is having a game where people use one word to describe her.  I thought of you.  Your word would be: effervescent.”

Besides the incredibly kind comment, I thought this was a fun game.

It also reminded me of a beloved high school book, Just You and Me by Ann Martin. In it, the main character has to complete an assignment for psychology class.  The teacher asked them to fill in the blank with “not your name, but with the one word which best describes you, which gets to the heart of who you are.”

    Hello, my name is ________________________.

What would you place in your blank? What word would you use to describe me?

And congratulations! Yes, HSM2 was my inspiration!(and i, bad girl as i am, was listening to it at the time of my composition)

  • gregarious

You lucky dog,  Outback is my favorite restauraunt.. ppfffttt   One day I will go there..

  • Reticent.

I have no idea how I would describe you with one word…it took me long enough just to come up with one for myself.

    Keep plugging away with NaNoWriMo!!

  • Mmmmmm, Outback! What a fun game! For me, friendly. For you, fun. :)

  • Haha…….nice twist.  I already gave you your name and now:

    Hello.  My name is Normal.

  • sounds like a fun date with him!

Also, I think you’d enjoy subscribing to another xanga friend of mine…  karenjudith …

  • that’s a lot of words!!     I don’t think i’ve ever been to Outback Stakehouse…it looks good on the comertials tho…

  • Not much. I did find a hoodie at Aero and a coat at Target. And that’s mostly what I needed, anyway.

  • Me; eclectic   You; intriguing

  • Hmm. Not sure I know you well enough to boil you down to one word…but in some regards, I’d say for you: Kindred-spirit. :)
For me… Not sure I know myself well enough either! How about: contemplative.

  • RYC: Well, the cat certainly isn’t starving, but he’s not fat either. If he doesn’t have an official owner he’s mooching off of some other houses. LOL…however the reason he seems so big to me is because his bone structure is just huge! Compared to my cats Mr. K. and Pepper this guy’s legs are like 1.5 times bigger than theirs if that makes sense. He leaves a much bigger pawprint, LOL.

  • I am quite undecided about my name.  I’ll have to ask my kids and husband.  I LOVE Christopher & Banks!  I bet you got something really cute!

  • Hello, my name is Unmotivated.

  • Okay, so I couldn’t think of one word . . . so I asked Rein, and he said Genuine.  I thought that was very kind.

When Asher was asked (who is still in school, under my command . . . or I’d like to think so, any way), he said Dictatress . . . as in female dictator.  Maybe?

  • I’ll need to think about that one.  RYC:  It was my pleasure.  I really enjoyed it.  I’m glad to see the story developing.  Bring it on!.

  • I thought it was good.

  • Keeping in mind that I have decided to keep Sundays NaNoWriMo free and that I started a day late–my word count is 4201. Here’s the URL for my site: http://www.nanowrimo.org/user/248704. If it works, and if you have one of those NaNo sites, perhaps you could subscribe so I can find you and go to your site and subscribe.

Describing you in a word–it would either be ambitious or intelligent.

Describing me in a word–ummm, that would require some thought.

  • Closest thing I could find to a pen….

  • Hello! My name is tender heart :) Neat question. I had to think about that one for a bit.

  • thank you Mary!

  • I hope you are enjoying your writing! Thanks for taking the time to comment on my writing, you’re right about needing to make the hope more direct… in regard to the “today I crossed the line to see” bit that didn’t make sense, would it make sense if I provided the information that I wrote the lyrics in hopes of ministering to a runner after his last collegiate regional competition?
    Have a wonderful day!

  • Ahhh, the test is completed! I feel so free!

I think it is wonderful that you are “effervescent”. I would like to be thought of as “effervescent”, but I think I would chose “tenacious” for myself.  I need some tech support to assemble all of the Sandcastlers in one place, but I think your idea is a good one.  I really would like to join the writing challenge too, if I could ever get all this studying under control.  Do you have to write all of the words in one month, or just pull together a story of the required length in a month?

  • Oh my goodness; we are ending a grading period here.  The High School goes on trimesters and the Middle School goes on semesters.  The trimester is ending and so final grades and paper work must be computed and recorded.  Also, since I am in Alternative School, there has to be a special meeting of administrators and staff to nominate those students that should a) be re-admitted to high school or b) remain in alt ed.  For every one I can send back, the regular school will nominate someone to take their place.  Can you believe there is a waiting list for alt ed?

This is peak paper shuffle week! hahahah

  • I forgot to mention; I am reading something interesting.  I started a new bible study.  It is a Beth Moore study and it is ‘Daniel’.  We are studying the book of Daniel.  Just thinking about it makes my heart swell!

  • Nondescript.

  • Tough questions!  Hello, I guess my name is loyal.  I don’t know you beyond Xanga, so I would have to just say that you seem like a fun person.

  • Conpenteek

I have this thing for neologism.  Unlike many of my literary heroes, I was not given a Classical education and philology has fallen out of favor in today’s “higher” education.   I am not a polyglot, a philologist, nor a linguist and I have lousy recall regardless.  So, I have to make it up.  Conpenteek is a combination of terms from Scripture that from my early 20s has described to me what it takes to abide in Christ or remain in Him.  Confess, repent, and seek.  When I cease to be conpenteek, I believe that I cease to abide in Christ.  Until I am with Christ in the beatific vision, may I be conpenteek and always be able to say “Hello, my name is conpenteek.”  That is of course if I am unable to use my given name.

For you,  I’ll take chance (It seems to me that answering a woman’s question directly is always a risk, since usually women don’t say what they mean.  Therefore, to answer one directly is to miss the point entirely).  Oh well,  Wordsmith, that’s the best I can do right now without making one up.

  • Hello, my name is nausea.

Remember that birthday cake I made for you one year with all the words on it that described you?

No way to say ‘Mary’ in one word but one of the better words would be ‘capable’.
