  • Growl, Growl, Growl

May tomorrow be a better day.

    How was your day?

PS–Just for fun, be a neologist! Make up your own word. Take any word, replace or add a letter or two, and make up the new definition.

    For example,

Barbiecue – to roast plastic dolls

tournado – a massive and destructive group of
    sightseers

    arapnophobia–fear of rap music

    discontinude – no longer naked

(I didn’t make these up. My clever former students did!)

  • haha  Very clever indeed!

My day was good in some parts, but in others…..not so good.

  • Those are good! hahaha

One of my students asked the other day to borrow a protractonader.  I knew exactly what she was talking about.  I’ve been teaching alt ed too long!  (protractor for geometry)

  • I truly hope that today goes better than yesterday for you!

  • I hope your day is better today!

  • I have arapnophobia…

  • Wow! I feel just like Shakespeare! Hows about…hmm….pensued: sued for all you’ve got!

  • PHC unfortunately didn’t make it onto my short list since they don’t have the major I’m interested in. I was actually referring to Roanoke College, which is pretty nice, but lutheran in name and very secular in practice. Ack.

  • Those are great.

  • sorry the day was not as good as you deserve!

Hmmm… new words.  I sometimes say “Mommiac” when I’m goin’ a little bonkers!

As far as the program goes ( I don’t know what to call it.  It is not a co-op and not quite, well, I just don’t know) we are doing the same subjects for history and science.  I am using a different book and timeline for history, but doing the same basic themes.  The science is more connected with the experiments at home being discussed in the workshop.  As far as math and English, everyone is doing there own thing at home, so they do group activities and focus on literature and general grammar in class.  They did want students to be doing quick writes and have reading time at home.  I am still unsure of their exact expectations we have only gotten the homework that I mentioned on my post (in an edit) under homework so far.  Oh, and they do want all families to be doing  notebooking.

  • Yes, through PA HSers….. my son and he “hit it off” very much. :(

  • I love antidissimulationtarianism.  ^_^

  • That’s so strange… I almost bought Me and Mr Darcy tonight, but didn’t end up getting it because I couldn’t tell from flipping through it if it would be “appropriate” or not.  But with your recommendation (swearing doesn’t bother me), I would love to read it.

  • Hope you have a better day tomorrow………and I hope that I do too!!! ((Hugs))

As far as a new word…let’s see…..how about BLOGGER….into….BLOGHER: a person who assumes the identity of another person online. :? ??? Sorry, that’s all I’ve got this late at night!! (lol)

  • The hour is too late and I am too tired to do any creative creating of creative words.  How about a wordologist. Or maybe I have wordophobia . The hubby and I are always using words incorrectly and liberally.

The cutest thing my son ever said was about spider webs.  He called them “mider speps.”

    I must be tired….Goodnight….

  • Oh, I must really BE a neologist, & didn’t even know it!  I’m always making up my own words and giving them definitions! ….. now, just to THINK of one would give some honor to my claim, eh!?

My day was worse than I’d have liked health-wise.  I was feeling so much better, but, this afternoon, I started getting tired, headachey & coughy, again.  But, I finally, stopped doing school & had everyone sit down and listen to Little Men on cassette with me while I knitted.

I’m on a knitting roll…. I’ve already knit 4 scarves, one for each of the girls, for Christmas!  I’m, also, in the middle of crocheting a scarf-shawl (can’t decide which, yet!). I want to learn to knit mittens & other things, but, my next project will be a nice, soft blanket of some sort.  I find this kind of homey, crafty work taps in to my creative side & makes me feel like a good Little House on the Prairie momma…. plus, it gives me a break from doing “stuff”. We will probably use knitting & crocheting as part of our “Arts & Crafts” times, frequently, since, it encourages listening (to tapes) & general family fellowship…. something we need much more of at our house. I hate feeling like my girls are growing up without time to just sit around and gab with their mom!

Oh, I thought of some words:

Jokehold – the act of making someone listen to your jokes by way of holding them down.

Slipnot – the ability to walk over wet or icey floors without slipping.

Sporklift – a ritual done at Taco Bell while eating taco salad.

Cabinettes – small, child- or doll-sized cabins

O.k., I have a headache & need to go to bed.  I truly covet your prayers, even though I know this WILL end soon, it’s getting a bit discouraging! Hope you have a truly beautiful & blessed week!

  • Hope today was better a better day!

RYC:  We’re thinking next fall.  We’re planning on flying into DC (we love DC), vac. there a few days and then driving up to SC for a few more days.   Then instead of driving back to DC, we’ll fly out of  the SC airport(depends on prices).  As for the dates we’re not exactly sure, we need to make sure it’s an away game so we can get a hotel (or at least book now if it’s home), but we’re leaning more towards late Sept, early Fall (so we can catch some fall folliage).  Too much info?  More than likely we won’t decided firm dates until the first of the year.

  • How about septuseemia, when you seem to be seven? or Diffrenbachia, the study of all the other composers named Bach?

  • Perhaps its the condition of being a different Bach than Johann Sebastian. Teacher Person is a palomine-o.

  • RYC: Daily cheese curls and chocolate? I could definitely get into that! LOL!

  • Cute :) I hope that your Tuesday was better than your Monday :)

  • Oh thanks!!  I will check that out.  It sounds like something I’d like.

According to this book, Arthur was supposedly the son of Aurelius, Uther’s brother the high king, who was married to Ygerna before he died.  Then, Uther married her and it was after that that she gave birth to Aurelius’ son (who’s identity Merlin hid until he was grown).  It’s all very interesting, even if it is wild theorizing.

  • RYQ; Well, to begin with we need to kick out everyone who has been in Congress for more than three terms, or the Senate for more than two. Then we need to totaly rewrite the tax laws. Then we need to pass and enforce very strict laws about government employees or elected officials accepting any form of gratuities or perks from anyone!  Then the second week,,,,,,,    lol

  • RYC-My picture is of Frodo at Rivendell. And I go back and forth between being calm and stressed about the surgery. I don’t like needles. * shudders *

  • Technicaly I think it would mean you spent someone elses money at Starbucks!
