  • Sunburnt and Sluggish

Today was an unseasonably warm day for September in PA, and we were at the football field all afternoon. Despite the fact I put on sunscreen, I got burnt in places I didn’t expect to be burnt (the undersides of my upper arms, for one–weird).  We had all the energy drained from us despite the number of sodas we were chugging down as we sat cheering on our Bulldogs. Now, we are a family of slugs, flopped around on couches and chairs, mindlessly eating ice cream and popcorn.  Bliss.

Urm…my mind seems as torpid as the rest of me.  Must. Be. Interesting. Oh, I know! Pictures!

Bugs, the only decent one I’ve taken lately is of this tree on Mount Nittany.

Hey, I just said “Bugs.” I also say, “Golly,” “Crud Monkeys,” and other strange expressions.  What’s your personal exclamation of drat-ness?  (And, if it happens to be a real, live swear word, recall that this site is definitely G-rated!)

  • Cool pic. The clouds in the background almost look like they have been spunged(sp?) onto the sky!

  • I didn’t realize you were from PA too.

  • I went through a phase when I said “drat” all the time… how’s that for an exclamation of drat-ness? ;) Now it’s usually just “stink”. If you’re looking for strange and unusual, my mom often exclaims to herself, “Oh, Marsha, you dingleberry!” My strange expression is when I’m trying to remember someone’s name. Instead of the typical “What’s her face?”, I say, “What’s her toes?” Picked that up from a college friend and it stuck.

RYC: I haven’t watched much Seinfeld, but my husband is a big fan and knew the episode about Elaine’s catalog writing. This morning I was talking with a friend about the job and she asked me about the same episode. :)

  • Well, the young lady I work with says “sha-pootey!” which I appreciate very much! LOL!  Considering her age (24-25) it could have been much worse!

  • Cool picture! It was unseasonably warm here in TN today too. UGH…reminded me of our temps back in August…I am so beyond ready for fall to get here and STAY here a while, you know? LOL

  • My husband has never cursed the words he uses is Fudge and I say golly days I am working on the stopage of the swearing. Have a great day.

  • I have a variety of strange things I say.   Smurf features heavily in these lately.  “You really smurfed me off”  “Well isn’t that just smurfy!”  “Oh Smurf!”  “For smurfs sake!”

I also like “Jinkys!”  “Doik”  and have been known to call people, espescially other drivers, jelly bean heads, banana brains, freakin star burst if they are really vile.

My friend Mrs. S says “Oh my stars!”  Like Samantha in Bewitched.  I love that!

  • It has been very warm here too, which I hate. I was out all day yesterday on the soccer field and it was horrible there. I put on block and ended up with some reddened areas too. Fun fun.
I guess I end up saying rats more often or For Pete’s Sake, lol.

  • My aunt says, “Oh my heart and soul!” which she got from her mother in law who goes a bit further and says, “Oh my heart, soul, body, and mind!!”

Gigi’s godmother says, “Lord have mercy on my soul!”

    I say, “Snapcakes!!”

  • Crud Muffins, and someone cutting me off in traffic gets a turkey buzzard, dork face, dip twad.

  • um…poop in a bucket? I think I picked that one up at camp k…

  • oh ..we had to do this short little quiz on our skills..so the As, Bs and Cs just show how suited you might be for a certain job.

haha..yup..that seemed to be a choice..
the program got really detailed too..they had things like industrial-organizational psychologist..among several other things.

very interesting to try out though…if you know what i mean =)

  • I picked up “stink” from my husband.

  • Whoops!  Sorry, that was me above.. I didn’t realize Dara was still signed in!

  • cheese-n-rice     :~)

  • A film’s being based on a comic book, generally speaking, means that it will be worse than otherwise. Think 300.

  • My sister likes to say “nincompoop” (sp?) as an expression like that instead of a derrogative title, and I’ve taken to thinking it randomly since then. Stinkumwich. Drat. Phooey. Oh bologna. Arghamafoil…muttter, grumble. Irk! To name a few.

  • Oh my goodness… some of those are so funny! Sha-pootey? Dingleberry? Turkey buzzards? Oh dear, I’m going to start picking these up…

  • My personal favorite is, “RATS!!”….. I tend to favor 1950′s or Charlie Brownish slang.

Hello, friend!  I feel like a slug, myself.  I’m sticking swabs with iron ore on them up my nose (…. o.k., so it’s “zincum gluconicum 2X”, same thing, right!;P) with the hopes it will shorten this “THING” (*hack! hack!!*).  My 2 eldest daughters are gagging & barking right along with me, only moreso (nothing like family camaraderie!!).  B. is almost done with it, since he was the generous presenter of this infectious gift! Please pray my 4 y.o. & 6 y.o. don’t come down with it…… I don’t think I’ll be up for a midnight run to the hospital at 2am for at least a few days!

My husband is picking up my favorite Chinese food tonight – Sweet & Sour Chicken!  He mentioned a Thai dish that I tried once & liked, but, Thai just doesn’t sound good to my tummy tonight with all the other stuff going on.

I HAVE to find a good cell phone & cell phone company!  B. cancelled all our phone service on the home phone except local & my cell phone is a Net10 thing that’s 10 cents a minute….. that gets expensive when you’re just calling people in the next city or county! I don’t need anything fancy, just about 400-500 minutes a month for $30 or so!  Everyone wants you to sign contracts for 1-2 years with a hundred plus dollars for cancellation…………..

gotta go….. daughter 2 is throwing up!

  • … sorry to end so abruptly!  I’m sure you are longing to hear more of my complaining, right!!? (thought I’d change my i.d. pic so people wouldn’t recognize me!! tee-hee!–that’s my littlest from about 2 years ago w/a boo-boo knee…. ain’t she sweet?!!)

On to lighter and brighter subjects….. what are you up to today?  How was school?  Got cookies?  ….. I need some with mini-chocolate chips in them, I think.

    Where’s my Chinese food??

    ….bye.

  • After pondering your question, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t say anything for drat-ness, is that weird?

  • Crums!  Sheepdip!  Crymany!  (sounds like cry many)  LINDA!! (used with only a deeply affectionate tone of course)

  • “Fooey”, as in Fooey, I should have read this post before I took the test!  I didn’t realize I had left xanga for so many days.  We went to a destination wedding last weekend. I like your expressions.

  • Oh my lands! Criminently! Snapit!
