  • Scandalous!

Today, I was on the edge of proper. I took a long, hot bath at 12:30 in the afternoon, leaving my children’s schooling unsupervised for (gasp) a half an hour!  And, I had cheese twists, a diet cherry Pepsi, and (gasp) a donut for lunch!  Right now, I’m sitting on my bed, laptop fulfilling its name, while Little Miss writes a letter at my desk. Life is calm and happy.

The room lady came yesterday, and although she was a lovely person, she wasn’t much help. It turns out she is an organizer person, not a decorator person.  I don’t really need any help in that area.  But, I gleaned as much from it as I could (microsuede is a durable covering for furniture), and I will hopefully proceed wisely.

EDIT–I got my kids’ passports today. I sent them in non-expedited processing on August 27th. I think this is pretty speedy service!

Since I didn’t post these sooner, I shall do now.

Wit and Hunter on the very first day of public school.  I couldn’t get them to wear Garanimals and carry Bob the Builder backpacks. They did grudgingly pose for me. Can’t you just hear them saying, “Oh, mother. Thank you so much for commemorating this event in our lives. Please, please take another picture.” I thought not.

Happy birthday to The Good Doctor!

Hiking Mount Nittany. LibbyK takes a break.

What scandalous activities have you been up to lately?

  • You just had to post that picture…>_<

  • As an early BD gift from my husband, I ate lots of See’s candies last night, LOL.

RYC: Waiting…unsettled where we live…oh boy is it tough.

    God bless you Mary.

  • A picture is def. worth a thousand words!!! You can see the “You’ve got to be kiding!” look on their faces. Although I must admit, I wouldn’t do much better!

  • I absolutely love how you’ve spent your day! Right up my alley, ‘cept for the donut. They no longer agree with my constitution. So, how many kids are you homeschooling since the boys have seemingly deserted?

  • Staying in my pj until 11, going out to lunch with a friend and shopping at the Gap!!!

ps.  Microsuede is the best!  Brie has spit up on it so many times and it wipes right up.

  • Oh, that’s right…I had forgotten that the public school up there lets homeschoolers take classes. What a blessing. I will try to not be too envious! Ours has just reluctantly conceded the non-graded extra curriculars (ie., sports). And they “let” us use them for testing. ‘Course, they had no choice! Don’t know why they are so parsimonious.

  • Hahahah………..My computer wouldn’t show me your pictures and I was not happy.  I clicked on refresh and there they were.  Those boys are too funny.  I can just sense the enthusiasm and excitement!  hahaha

  • What a wonderful day you’ve had! Love the pics!!! I was actually productive today and decluttered more books! But I’m sure I’ll do something decadant tomorrow! Brownies for breakfast? A bowl of Captain Crunch instead of Cheerios? ;)

  • I answered your comment on my blog. I suppose I should tell you that this is pretty much my usual practice, as it makes things simpler for me and keeps it easy for other readers to follow conversations. So I’ll be doing this in the future.

  • The looks on the faces of your boys is priceless…it gave me a good giggle this evening!  I love quirky days like the one you had…why be normal?  It is definitely overrated.  Be Blessed and enjoy your evening!  Susan

  • That’s funny how you put the caption on the boys’ picture..  lol    Looks like a very delicious cake.. Yummy!  I wanna a piece. :)

  • Nothing scandalous yet today, but there are still three hours in this day!  I believe there is a chocolate-covered glazed donut somewhere in the house waiting for me.  Yum, especially if I wash it down with a caffeine free Coca Cola.  Now that’s scandalous for me!

  • I actually took time to comment on people’s blogs today! Is that scandalous? I am sure you are wishing you did not comment on Wesjanson’s by now. Sorry for the opinionated men in my life! Actually, I am glad you did post since now they have something to do ! :)

  • The only personal time I had today was when I mowed the backyard…now, that’s sad. Glad you were able to indulge today! :)

  • We didn’t take any pictures this years to commemorate the first day of school.  Terrible that we did not, since this is Emily’s first year of middle school.  I absolutely love having my day free to myself.  Just grocery shopping without children is wonderful, not to mention lunching with my friend, Lori.  Which by the way, I truely believe is not scandalous.  It is my duty to make sure she and her unborn child receive well-balance menus of Italian, Mexican, and Chinese cuisine.  After she has the baby, we will still have to lunch out.  I should start thinking of excuses now, her due date is approaching soon.

  • Well, does eating a whole mini-loaf of banana nut bread fresh out of the oven and slathered in honey butter count as scandalous?   :~)  Oh, and I washed it down with a large mug of hot chocolate, the real stuff made with milk, not instant powder and water!

  • I’m drinking my coffee sitting at the computer while the kids take a lesson from the man repairing the furnace. (Their science for today!) And it is coffee instead of tea today since we are going to town and the coffee there is horrible, but the tea is tolerable–and I don’t want another headache! Not very scandalous, I’m afraid.

What would be wonderful–and scandalous too–would be to spend the entire day cross-stitching! Followed by Scrabble tonight.

  • Okay…that picture of Nate and David really made me laugh out loud.  That is HILARIOUS

And no donuts or pepsi or cheese twists here (unfortunately).

  • Oh I love the pictures! My children have the same expression when I am snapping away with my camera.
I have been drinking a lot of hot tea lately…just because. And also bought a very small little back to school cake on Monday which the kids thought was great. And I hate a big piece :) Lots of rich and creamy icing!

  • You probably needed that time to relax and eat junk food.  I think it is good that you allowed your boys to wear polos and jeans.  They would get made fun of if they carried Bob the Builder lunch boxes.  Good choice.

  • Scandalous?  Hmmm.  Staying up until about 12:45 on a (gasp!) school night; getting up at 8:30 the next morning; and writing my first history TE as an actual (more or less) timed essay trying to beat the silly 7:00 deadline.

Needless to say, it was pretty bad!

How did Nathan do switching from writing nice English essays to content-based history ones?

  • So how many are you homeschooling now?  Spazzymommy isn’t homeschooling her oldest anymore, either.  What made you decide to send them to public school?

I can’t think of anything scandalous at the moment.  Donuts sure sound good, though.  Haven’t had any in a very long time– and we have Dunkin Donuts at each corner around here it seems.  Are there any kids reading?  *looks around* How about seducing the local pastor?  Good thing he’s my husband!  lol

  • Mmm – my kind of breakfast!! I *could* be doing chores instead of commenting on xanga blogs…I’ll give myself a few more minutes and then shut the computer off!

  • ryc:  How Nice!!!

  • haha I enjoyed the pictures! Thanks for the invite for football! I would love to come!!! I will try my best to make it there.

  • Quinoa is an ancient grain.  You can read about all the different ways to use it here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa

Look at the section titled “Preparation”.

That picture reminds me of the ones my mom used to take of my younger brother on the first day of school.  Except his pants were always waaay too long, so there was plenty of room to grow.  I think his sleeves were too long, too.  A popular thing for moms to do in the sixties.

  • Scandalous activities?  Ah, such indulgences are only for the young, so enjoy them while you can. As one gets older, the price one pays for scandalous activities (heartburn, straining something, having to take more pills, etc.) is just too much.

  • Mr. M. wants to know why Wit and Hunter are going to public school.  Are they cherry picking a few classes?  I think I read an explaination about this earlier but it escapes me now.  Anyway, I bet there were ripples of interest among the female population when they arrived.  Quintus was my first to go full time to highschool.  He decided it would garner better scholarships if he did, and he liked it and got in with some really neat nerds.

  • And by the way, I made Quintus pose on the porch for his first day of second year of college before we moved him up.  -What did you make a crack about the garanimals just before you snapped the picture?
