  • Free Hug Day

According to a Facebook invitation I got, today is Free Hug Day.  Consider yourself hugged.

Where did this word originate? It’s probably of Scandinavian origin from the Old Norse word “hugga” which meant “to comfort.”

    Consider yourself Viking hugged.

P.S.  Faith CD posted the funniest link. If’ you’ve ever seen a TLC makeover show, check out this spoof one.  If you are a mom who drives a minivan, you should also enjoy it.

  • LOL  I sort of remember my one trip to State College to see a game!  I agree though, I love the atmosphere of a University town, and I always have the option to avoid downtown or join in the insanity if I want to.

  • I guess I have to hug someone today.

  • umm just thought it was pretty and colorful

  • We all put on our plastic Viking hats that we got this summer and gave each other a hug!

((((((((HUG))))))))  Glad you enjoyed the video clip! heehee

  • It’s Free Hug Day??  What…like we normally have to pay for hugs??

  • The “Mom My Ride” video didn’t make me burst out laughing, but I could certainly relate to it!   I especially liked the duct tape on the side view mirror!

  • A Viking hug sounds good to me.

    God bless you Mary.

  • RYC: Perhaps, Id amo; puto esse optimus atque maximus would do the trick. Although that’s considerably higher praise than I think it merits.

  • I’m sorry, that should be puto esse optimum atque maximum, since we’re discussing a neuter subject.

  • Here’s a hug for you!  I’m on facebook and I belong to the group! LOL I forgot!  I’d better get over there!

  • I’m glad you still read it, Mrs. Sellers! Thanks for the comment. It looks like zuchinni bread can still be part of my diet hahaha. Well, in very small doses…

  • Ah-ha! You are brilliant. I didn’t know today was “free hug day” . . . I suppose that’s why I saw a girl standing with a piece of yellow paper by the library with “FREE HUG” written in green on said piece of paper. I thought it was a little strange, but at least knowing that it’s free hug day gives her a little more credibility.

    Hugs to you!

  • -hug- i was looking up jane austen blogrings, and happened to find the one you are in, and just began browsing! thanks for the link to another site, it was very kind.

Seems to be true in this hapless husband’s case.   Had to love the side mirror.  The video certainly made me laugh!!

  • :)   ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))   The world need more hugs!!

  • Awww, gee thanks! RYC: I do too!  It is late and I just returned from taking my daughter and her husband and munchkin to school.  I haven’t been keeping up on xanga either.  I’ll catch up tomorrow while I do mountains of laundry I hope.

  • That video gagged me on the milk!  Gah! hahahahah

Since school started back, we have been way tooo busy!  I haven’t found my rut yet but I know I will.

Hugs to you, too!  (({   }))

  • “Consider yourself Viking hugged.”

    Why, thank you.

Does this mean you’re wearing a helmet with horns and a brass bra as you’re hugging someone?  (Yes, I’ve seen too many Wagnerian operas.)

  • So, are we supposed to be charging for hugs?  RATS!!! I could have made millions if I’d have known!!  I’m one of those dreaded “huggers”….. however, I have gotten much more reserved with my hugs over the years & recognize a “non-hugger” when I meet them, most times, & will refrain.  {{{{HUGS!!}}}} to you!

Curriculum? This year (as with most!!) I’m experimenting with some new stuff (to me).  I decided to go with Rod & Staff for math for the two big girls &, again, R&S preschool workbooks for my 4 y.o..  I always use their preschool program & used them for 1st & 2nd grades with my first & second born.  I liked how thorough & Bible based is was, so, I thought I’d go back to them for math, since I wasn’t sure what to do this year.  I, also, ordered Harvey’s (not the Bristol Cream kind! ha!) Grammar & Composition (first published in 1869), Spelling Success, Prairie Primer, and A Reason for Handwriting for my 5th & 6th graders.  E. (1st grader) has stuff from last year that we started in Jan. – Miquon Math & Explode the Code for reading.  The Prairie Primer is based on the Little House books & covers 1800 U.S. History, U.S. Geography, Science, Language, Practical Living, Health, Safety, Nutrition, Music & Arts.  It will mean a little more prep. for me, but, now that no one is in diapers or being potty trained, I think I’m up for the job!….. that is, with the Lord’s help!

So has the whirlwind died down a little?  I’ve been trying to force my blasted whirlwind to stop whipping me around!  Even though I have more going on that I usually do during the school year, I’m trying to take time to “smell the roses” and slow my frame of mind down a little….. don’t know if it will work for long, but, it’s been quite nice! (Did I mention that I’m on my whole second day of this habit??!!! ;D ha!!)

Hope your day is filled with “rose-scented” moments that stop you in your steps & make you think of the Father’s love for you….. reminding you of what’s really necessary.  (This “Mary Moment” was brought to you by Luke 10:41&42) :)

  • That is  hilarious!  I knew he was going to use duct tape!  That’s what my hubby would do!!  lol

    Hug ya!

  • Whoops! Well, I guess that’s nice to hear, anyways.

    Free hug day, huh? *Hugs*

    Merry

Miss you! I’ll send you the rest of those books ASAP. (They were, great, BTW.)
