  • It’s the first day of school tomorrow. Oh, boy! I’m getting up early to make pancakes. I might even wear a denim jumper. Wait. I don’t have one.

  • Mmmmm! Pancakes! Happy first day of school!

  • Laughing out loud!! “Denim jumper!” Not sure if you meant that to be funny, but one year a guy come to speak at our state convention and he jokingly called denim jumpers: Home school mom uniforms! Some mom’s started numbering their jumpers. Have a great first day!

  • You are awesome! ;) I hope your first day goes wonderfully tomorrow – I’ll be thinking of you as I sit in my upper level writing seminar with only five other students (the other 12 were sufficiently scared away on the first day) . . . have fun!!

  • Haha! Well, someone’s excited! Pancakes sound good. I just might do that tomorrow too…

    Have a great 1st week!

  • This and other topics will be addressed in detail in a subsequent installment, tentatively titled “Of Course I’ve Got All My Shots, Baby”

  • No jean jumper, oh no!!!  Have a great day back to school!!!

  • JUST SAY NO to denim jumpers!!!

(The only jumpers I’m wearing are sweaters! Brits call them jumpers. :) )

Hope your first day goes well! Have a pancake for me!

  • LOL re the jumper! The uniform!!!

The Jr. couple live in Boalsburg, and when we went up on Sunday I was wondering where you were!

  • Algebra starts in 35 mins.! YIKES!

  • LOL!  You crack me up.  Wish I’d have thought of that line.

We start today, too.  No pancakes, no denim jumper.  (Does this even count?)

Btw, Mara is one of our favorite read-alouds.

  • NO DENIM JUMPER!?! What kind of a homeschooling mother ARE you?!?

  • I thought you looked gorgeous this morning WITHOUT the denim jumper.  Way to break the mold!  And the pancakes and sausage were fabulous.  Nice way to get that first day started.

  • Will they have chocolate chips and banana slices in them?

  • We started on August 20th!

  • Pancakes?  It is almost worth doing the math just to get them.

No denim jumpers here either.  A lot of hippy skirts and cartoon character T-shirts, but not a denim or a jumper in sight!

  • No denim jumper?  I can’t believe it…that seems like something that Teacherperson would have in her wardrobe.  Oh well.  Hope that the first day of school is great anyway!!

  • Just surfin’in off Wayne’s site………

had to tell you that you look like my sister, who sadly is not with us anymore.  She passed away in 2000 at the age of 48.  I saw your photo on Wayne’s comments, went to your site and your name is even the same!  My sister’s name is Mary.

  • Too funny about the jumper (I don’t think I have owned a jumper since I was in school.  For school wear – I would go with the Pj’s myself – after all this is home school

  • It’s our first day today, and some time ago, I’d promised dd17 that I’d make her pancakes for breakfast on her first day of school as a high school senior – and I forgot!!! So we’ll have pancakes for dinner instead!

  • Pancakes good. Denim jumper not so good.

  • Now would these be real pancakes… or the frozen kind?

And…. JUST SAY NO to jumpers in general (they scream 1990′s at you)…..

  • How untraditional of you!!

I remember reading Mara, Daughter of the Nile a while back…I enjoyed it for the most part.

  • Woo hoo! Yay school! ^_~

Sorry I haven’t been on xanga much. Aaaack, life’s been crazy.

In short: I love it here. More than any other place I’ve ever been. I love the people, the classes, the buildings, the grass that I’m not allowed to walk on, the library of children’s books, my new pet goldfish…..

Everything in this place is  drawing me closer and closer to God. It’s like I’m in his will for my life right now, and he’s letting me know it in no uncertain terms. So amazing, and so encouraging to my faith.

DO DO DO come and visit some time! We can have a party! It’ll be awesome. I’m feeling sort of Seller-deprived, which makes me sad at heart.

PS: Mara is one of my all-time favorite books ever. Good choice.

  • Two straight days of homeschool and no denim jumper!  Yes!  I hope today goes well.

  • I gave my two denim jumpers away a couple of years ago and found myself the other day trying to buy one.  What is the appeal of a loose-fitting, comfy, long, often baggy dress to frump around the house and also run errands in?  I thik I just answered my question!

Yes, I did find a really good read.  I’m reading a Jan Burke novel-Kidnapped.  I love suspense, mystery…

We don’t start school until Monday.

  • hey, do you have (or know anyone with) room for two ppl to take to thwe party after the game?

  • *snicker!! snort!*  I have two that I bought about 4 years ago……. one is denim with “teacher” motifs, the other is lt. green linen….. neither look good on me.  But my girls rejoice so when they see me in one, that I can’t bear to part with them!! I think they think that I’ll be sweet and never raise my voice like Ma Ingalls if I wear long skirts…… poor, naive waifs!! lol!!! If only that were the case, I’d buy a truck load!! ;)

  • BY THE WAY!  I thought this was a “G” rated site!! What’s this stuff about you looking so great “without your jumper” on?? Cool it, TGDJ! ;P

  • yay thanks! Erin adn i will be there
