Anybody Want a Donut?
Gee, I’m still not being very faithful in my posting, am I? Rejoice! It’s just one fewer thing you have to read.
I’ve been thinking a lot about school, which is good, since our first day is on Tuesday next. Hunter and Wit will be taking some part-time classes at State High (no, really, that’s the name of our high school), and the others will be homeschooled full-time. I determined that the more paperwork I can get done before school begins, the better off I’ll be. So, I’m working on assembling the checklists for the first 18 weeks of school. I made copies of the Sonlight log and will cut and paste to make things fit on one sheet of paper.
I’ve also been thinking about how many of my Xanga friends have a parent who is either sick or injured. It makes me me want to put my mom in a glass box or something. (Which would last about two seconds until she got insanely claustrophobic and smashed her way out of it) How precious the ordinary is! I must remember never to take it for granted.
Today, I had some dull errands to run. I called up MaineLady and said, “Hey, do you want to drive around with me while I do dull errands?” “Sure!” she replied. I brought her kiddos to our house to play Kemps and other nifty games, and we went for groceries and made copies. I would have loved to have stopped somewhere for a chocolate chip cookie, but I had to go home and make dinner (i.e. heat up leftovers) before practice.
After the aforementioned cheerleading/football practice, I picked up donuts for TGD and me to have as a nice “Phew, the kids are in bed” treat. I’m looking forward to it a great deal. I actually don’t care for donuts that much, but sometimes I get a craving for a white iced cake donut, preferably with sprinkles.
What’s your favorite donut?

My favorite donut is a chocolate iced donut filled with white, NOT cream, fluff. I am very particular too about the white fluff, lol. I hate the thick yellow custard kind..yuck, lol!
My grandma Hat. It’s really very sad…
Merry
Nice for you to have a friend to run errands with. Never even considered such a thing!
That does sound fun!
Hmmm…Not much of a donut person either. I love a heart bran muffin, but sometimes I enjoy a really yummy fresh glazed twist with a really strong cup of coffee. Espescially in the rain.
Apple fritters are always good!!!!!!! But something with peanut butter is always great as long as it’s angel creme or peanut butter filled.
I am looking forward to the end of this school year, although I haven’t started yet. I much rather practice guitar all day or something like that, rather than doing math, and biology, etc.
Let’s see…my mother-in-law who lives with us has a urinary tract infection–her second since the beginning of July.
Is that what you wanted to know? My favorite doughnuts are the raspberry-filled Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Do you have Krispy Kreme in PA? Doughnuts are one of my favorite things. Too bad they have so many calories.
Chocolate glazed!
I HATE donuts!
Jelly filled please! Actually, I seldom eat doughnuts, but when I do I like the really gooey ones. RYQ; Hmm, good question! For me it means that I try to remain acutely aware of the earth, the complete ecosystem, the circle of life, and how my behavior might affect those things. I respect all other living creatures, and I do not take a life, be it animal or plant, lightly. If I cut a weed or pull a dead flower I mulch it so that it returns to the earth. If I grow a vegetable I ensure that it is used for food and not wasted. I do not “hunt” for sport ( well, not at all actually), and when I eat meat it is with an appreciation of the fact that a living being died to provide this nourishment. I also have a great appreciation for the need of some people to observe rituals, and I try to make sure that if I participate in any of these it is in the spirit of honoring both their and my beliefs and being open to learning more. I also have learned how to enjoy pleasure without guilt! Also, I not only know the meaning of the word esoteric, I take offense to it being used in an attempt to describe my beliefs.
passing through, thought i would say “HI”
chocolate frosted for me please!
RYC- I was describing in an earlier post my new shelves for the school room and I mentioned that my “how to” homeschool books were by the flash cards, the BOB books and the frog habitat on the top shelf. Frigedr asked if I could say what those books were.
I just haven’t felt like blogging much lately myself. I seem to go through stages with blogging. I’ll blog several times a day for awhile.. and then I don’t even visit my blog for weeks. Go figure..=)
I think we should send out some prayers to our Xangan friends who have family members going through some hard things as well as those fellow Xangans who are dealing with illness themselves. Praying for them right now.
The title of this entry reminds me of the Princess Bride quote, “Anybody want a peanut?”
Those were some excellent donuts last night! Chocolate covered glazed – yummy!!!
That’s really ironic because we just had donuts this morning for Big D’s birthday. I haven’t had donuts in a loooooong time, but I chose a cinnamon twist glazed one. YUM.
def. white iced…no other will do! (not so, i lie. i also like glazed, Boston cremes and plain ‘ol chocolate)
dull errands are definitely more fun with friends… great idea!
Eclairs, jelly donuts or Krispy Kreme Krullers! Mmmm! Donuts!
Mary,
Thanks for your comments
We start school next Tuesday as well. I prepared lessons, etc. before we left so I would not have to rush..at least not as much..when we came home.
God bless you.
Cynthia
No?? Points don’t matter?!
Darn.
Well, at least I can have the satisfaction of noting (temporarily, I’m sure)that *ahem* I have more points than Andrew E. (Erik-with-a-k’s little brother) Also, the Hoop Skirts are beating the Compass Rose (I think
)
And yes, I am probably going to regret it but I’m going to buy the $40-a-panel curtains I love. Haven’t been able to find anything else I like! (Actually, I found one thing. $13 a panel…big difference. But the dumb thing was that the stitching at the top was only wide enough for a non-decorative curtain rod…in other words, I could never open my curtains!!)
A white iced cream-filled donut! Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?
Well, it’s your fault. I had to stop and get doughnuts on the way home from violin lessons today.
DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, State High, do you guys live in a comic book? You have such funny names in your area?! Hee-hee.
I”ll tell you who wants a donut. Riley (Mr. sleep in as much as possible) popped out of bed at 6 a.m. on his birthday this past Wednesday all for the love of donuts. We went to Xenia and picked out a dozen donuts so the family could have them for breakfast. I got the kind with chocolate and nuts on top because I’m nuts about nuts and chocolate. In fact give me the nuts and chocolate without the donuts and I’m actually happier.
Started school on Monday. Went well till I woke up with a fever on Thurs and had to lie around all day. The kids at least knew what to do and got work done. That was encouraging!
Hope you get a great start on your school year!!!!
Donuts are one item that have become a rarity (did I spell that right? is it even a word?) at our house. Mainly, because I am Glazed Chocolate Cake Donut Addict….. if they’re in my house, I can’t stop at just one. They have become a once-every-six-months treat…. SERIOUSLY!!
I love Retrowoman’s comment about you living in a comic book! That’s so funny!! What a hoot!!
Keep praying for my dad. I talked to him today and he seems so tired and low energy. I think it’s depressing to him, too, which only makes things worse. I just want to make him all better, but, I don’t know how.
I like yeast raised donuts, but hardly ever buy them. When I do, I like so many different kinds, tonight it would be between chocolate glazed custard filled bismarks, or chocolate frosted with chopped nuts… I’d probably go for an old fashioned glazed cake donut.
Just make sure your mom takes her vitamins!
