  • Theme Song
(Skip to the end of the post and press the little arrow to hear the song while you read. If you want, of course.)

Just in case you are keeping tallies on the scrapbooking, I’ve done 70 pages so far and am about halfway done with the pictuers. I’ve pretty much maxed out one hinge-strap album and have another. What an endeavor! But, I think I will have quite a lovely product when it’s all said and done.

No, I’ve not only been scrapbooking. I’ve been reading, gardening, and going to church, a week-late anniversary dinner at Outback Steakhouse, a band-jam party at our pastor’s house, and more!  Life is good.

Speaking of life, I think I’ve found my “theme song.” So many people have life verses and favorite thisses and thats. I never have. But, I’ve discovered one.  The lyrics really seem to capture my general view of life–joy in Christ!  Plus, I like the beat of it. (I was willing to overlook the grammatical cringing of that preposition at the end for the sake of the rhyme.) Also, it sort of fits what Sarah B. said to me at camp as I was walking along the fence to come into the pool.  “Mrs. Sellers, when you come into the gate, the fun will have arrived!”

Here are the lyrics (oh, eternal Disney-themed optimist that I am) if you are so inclined. But, if you are like me and seldom if ever read posted lyrics, feel free to skip to the end and play the song if you haven’t already.

Do you have a theme song? How about one that captures your view of life or where you are right now?

    Wherever We Go
    by the Newsboys

Wherever we go the bluebirds sing
    And the flowers bloom

    And the grass gets green

    It’s a curious thing

    But it’s just our thing

Wherever we go, the bees behave
In the treetops, squirrels smile and wave

    It’s a curious thing

    And it’s humbling

Where we go, little glow-worms glow
    Little roadrunners run ahead

    Gonna tell their friends

    Little mice, little men

    Get ‘em all excited

    All invited

    Chorus:
    Hands up
    Holler back here
Let’s throw this party in gear
    We brought the welcome mat
Wherever we go, that’s where the party’s at
    Hands up
    Holler back now
    We don’t claim any know-how
    We’re giving God all that
Wherever we go, that’s where the party’s at

Wherever we go, the dumb get wise
    And the crime rates drop

    And the markets rise

    It’s a curious thing
    But it’s just our thing

    Bullies make nice, crooks repent
And the ozone layer shows improvement
    It’s a curious thing
    And it’s humbling

    Wherever we’re led
    All the Living Dead
    Wanna leave their Zombie Minds
It’s a touching scene when they all come clean
God help us, we just love our job

    Chorus
    High, throw your hands up,
    Throw your hands up, high,
    High, throw your hands up
    Throw your hands up, high

This is a message we spread,
    Bringing life to the dead,
    This is a gospel exposed,
    Follow us wherever we go

This is a message we spread,
    Bringing life to the dead,
    This is a gospel exposed,
    Follow us wherever we go

  • I do not have a theme song but it is not the first time I heard of this lyrics..  It must be a really popular song.. :)    Fun that it is stuck playing in my head.. LOL

  • They have such intelligent lyrics sometimes.  I love it when lyrics, like Gilbert and Sullivan’s song lyrics fit like a jigsaw puzzle.

Impressive work on the scrapbook!  If it was me trying to do that, I’d be 60 pages behind you.

Re: the preposition placement.  My mother quoted Winston Churchill on that subject saying something like, “That is the sort of nonsense up with which I will not put.”

  • You level of energy is wonderful! I do like the Newsboys! I haven’t heard this one yet! There is an Amy Grant song I LOVE, but can’t think of the name of it right now. Off to Google!

  • Out in the Open from Simple Things.

  • Very impressive on the scrapbooking thing!  As for a preposition at the end of a sentence, you do know, I hope, that when Winston Churchill was rebuked by the newspapers here in America for such an atrocity, he was reported to have replied, “Such criticism is something up with which I will not put.”  Hope I made you laugh.

  • Okay, now I just read mamaglop’s comment, and feel so completely redundant.  Just delete please.

  • ahhh…the newsboys….they are one of my hubby’s favorite bands.  :)    I’m impressed that you have so many pages done with scrapbooking!  (its hard to imagine that you can fit anything else in with getting so many of them done.  good job!)

i’ll have to think about that…a theme song for one’s life.  hmmm… i am not sure I can do that, my life is always changing so much.  i might be able to come up with one at the end of my life.  lol.  when the pieces finally fit together… right now I really like “How Great is Our God” by Chris Tomlin.  he has such a knack for describing God in such a way that your soul just worships. i think he is really inspired!

  • No theme song for me, but this a great one for you.

  • I fly back in about a week. I’ll have a day at home before I drive down to school.

  • “Joy in Christ” is a great theme!   May you live it out to the fullest all your life…

ryc – It just so happens that my two sisters were home for the weekend this past weekend, so the whole family was together briefly.  But if you look closely, you may notice Someone Else in the picture as well… making it definitely a ‘special occasion’.

  • Thanks for thinking of us and praying for us! I’ll be updating soon!

  • I don’t have a theme song.    Just music.   I think the theme from “The Sons of Katie Elder” works.     I saw your comment to a friend and thought I’d stop by.   The comment that your name is Mary, you suspect a family with a bunch of Marys’ in it is Catholic, and you thought about a name for the Witness Protection Program makes me need to ask… are you Italian?

  • My theme song? Hmm…how about the think music from Jeopardy?
    A. the game show I most want to get on
    B. what my life will be in if I don’t get caught up and ready for school!
    C. i heard that composer Merv Griffin passed away yesterday. End of an era.

  • No, I don’t have a theme song…. I’ll have to think about it.  Grammatical errors?  Hmmmm… I guess I’d never WRITE “at” at the end of the sentence, but I’m sure I’ve been heard to SAY that!  lol  It’s a Pennsylvania Dutch thing, I guess.  Katia laughs at me when I say something is “all.”  “All what?” she says.  Took me a long time to figure out that it wasn’t proper because where I come from everyone talks like that!  lol

  • Personally, I’m not a big Newsboys fan, but this is a good song. I’ve never thought of having a “Life song.” Though the song “Lifesong” by Casting Crowns would be a good one. They picked a good name for it. Hm I don’t even know if I have an absolute favorite song. There are too many to choose from.

  • I love scrapbooking…looks like your doing a great job!!I love your England pictures!!

  • This is such a great song! The Newsboys have been fairly consistent through the years with putting out good music (I will try to forgive them for “Love, Liberty, Disco”). I don’t listen to CCM stuff much anymore, put if I do hear this song on the radio, I always crank it up and sing along.

  • Hey! That’s great! I love the song. I guess (right now) my life-song would have to be “To Live and to Love” by Superchick. I posted it on my site today.

    Merry

  • You’re just so amazingly “hip” and “cool” - sorry for the dated terms!  But how lucky can I be?

Interesting quote from my “You ‘da Dad” calendar this past weekend – “Any fool can have a trophy wife.  It takes a real man to have a trophy marriage.”  – Diane Sollee.

  • You’re a blast, Mary!! I’ll be humming this song all day long. I suppose one of my theme songs might be “Coram Deo” by Judy Rogers–a clip can be heard here: Coram Deo

Or else it might be “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder (I’ll be there)”!

  • I love that song….Newsboys has the greatest lyrics ever.

I’ve never thought about having a theme song, so I don’t really know what mine would be…

  • Thanks for Nathan’s address! I wrote him this afternoon. ^_^ And I’m glad my paper was of some use, lol!

I’m headed over to get Eclipse here this afternoon….I can’t get them out of the library because I’m leaving for college too soon to order them! (*gasp*) So I’ve actually bought them. *Dies* Still, it’s better than buying clothes, right?

I also like your song! Very fun and very you. I guess my theme song is “Beautiful Somehow” by Joy Williams. Also, I’ve loved reading about your England trip! Way to go on the scrapbooking. :)

  • I have heard that song before.  I love the song “Word of God Speak” by MercyMe

I’m finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it’s okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

    Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
    Washing my eyes to see
    Your majesty
    To be still and know
    That You’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest
    In Your holiness
    Word of God speak

I’m finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice

I’m finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it’s okay

  • Hey I’d love to come to SC, but I can’t make it this week due to a family vacation thing going down. Buuuutt, I will be able to come the week after in order to attend the youth group night, and put David through a soccer training program sure to make him sore and tired. So let me know when next week is the best time for me to drive up.

    Love,
    Daniel

  • Oh how neat! I will have to create a theme song for my life too. And great job on the scrap booking. Can you send me some of your energy, lol?

  • I’ve heard my kids play this, and frankly thought it was a bit dumb.  But I’d never really listened to it, just heard the chorus (with its poor grammar) and now that I’ve actually read the words, I have to say I like them.  Thanks for broadening my mind!

  • Cool song.  I have always enjoyed this Australian sensation!  I enjoy so many songs that I would have a hard time picking just one, but I have selected Steven Curtis Chapman’s “Fingerprints of God” for my oldest boy and “I believe in you” for my youngest.  The songs fit just how I feel abaout my boys.
