  • Lydia Indeed

I’ve not been a very good blogger lately. But, I did get all my math writing done. Huzzah and Hoorah and all sorts of other happy exclamations!

The barn dance was such a wonderful time. Yes, I really am Lydia Bennet. The quiz was right. “… Lydia had been fortunate enough to be never without partners, which was all that she had yet learnt to care for at a barn dance.”  I could have danced all night! It was great fun, and TGD was such a good sport to polka with me and square dance and reign me in during the times I wanted to take the beat at twice the pace it should have been.  I lost count of the number of times I trod on his tootsies.  What a wonderful fellow!   Kudos to all the B’s for being part of that family and for inviting us!

Tonight was church softball, a “they scored six runs in the last inning” loss. But, we had ice cream at Myer’s Dairy to soothe our wounded souls. Actually, I went along for the ice cream. Oh, and to see that awesome play at first base, eh TGD?

Reading Little Bear on the deck

This week looks to be fun–hot days in the pool, replacing zippers on our tent, eating strawberries, sending those portfolios to the school district, and going to Del Grosso’s Amusement Park. Yes, it really is called “Del Grosso’s.” It used to be called “Bland’s Park.”  Which name is less appealing for an amusement and water park, do you think?  Do you know of any other less-than-aptly named places?

  • So glad you got all your math writing done–in spite of the interruptions. :)

The dance sounds like it was a lot of fun. I’ve only square danced a couple of times, and really enjoyed it, but only when the person I was with knew what they were doing.

I did get my walk–and cup of tea and piece of shortbread after it. What fun! I really enjoyed the walk with you the other day!

  • You are awesome. Thank you so much for the list!

  • I once saw a Hammer Dental. The sign featured the sort of hammer you use to drive nails poised over a tooth. I kid you not.

  • From Bland’s to Del Grosso, – out of the frying pan into the fire namewise…. I learned to polka once at church camp and really enjoyed it.  Mr. M. and I both danced in college but not with each other.  I would like to try dancing with him more.  I could count the occasions on the fingers of both hands and have fingers left over.  The last time was at A&W and I was the one who asked him to dance.  It sounds like a good week.  I have never had too many strawberries.

  • Is the pool in your backyard? My kids would be envious!

How about Leakey Plumbing? Yes, it’s the real deal….

When do you leave for England? I have already forgotten. Too much swirling in my noggin!

  • Haha what a cute picture!
I should have thought of a way to put Weird Al in there… oh well. I could always play that at the end or something! haha Thanks again for having us over!

  • It sounds like you had a WONDERFUL time! And your summer sounds like it is shaping up to be a good ont!

  • I think both names are absolutely horrid for an amusement park. My goodness. I suppose though, that the fun I always have there makes up for the name. Oh, and Laura Streit was telling me about the barn dance too – sounds like it was a lot of fun!

  • How about Hooker Hardware? My hometown is Hooker, Oklahoma located in the middle of the Oklahoma Panhandle.

  • Thanks again for a great time in your pool on a very hot day. We got tons of strawberries, too! See you at the lesson today!

  • I’m glad that you finished writing. It’s such a relief to me when I am done. I love that feeling of accomplishment.
You are a great blogger! I really enjoy reading your blogs. I know it’s hard at times to update often, but we all do what we can. Keep the posts coming :)

  • Hmmm, in that case, I must have a little Lydia in me too. I could have kept going all night at the prom, and I seriously think I danced almost all the dances. Of course, they were all with my girlfriends, and I dragged half of them onto the floor. So I don’t know if that counts or not. (The two guys we sort of knew had to wait until the middle of a dance before they decided they wanted to dance, and by that time, most of us were already in the middle of the floor. Hehe).

Kudos for getting the math writing done! That is one assignment I would hate. Math? Not me.

Whoever thought “Rocky Road” for ice cream sounded appetizing?

  • Dancing is SOOO fun!

How about Buzzard’s Funeral Home? It’s here in western PA.

  • Mmmmmmmmm Strawberries! We had strawberry shortcakes last night! They are so good.

  • Yes, yes…. Creation is an annual event here, though last year we were rained out! It is quite the production, in every way imaginable! Not for the faint of heart!

  • My head spins when I read about your busy life…or at least I hope that’s why….

I took dance classes in college.  My favorite was folk dancing. We even did some kind of island dance, bouncing bamboo poles on the floor, jumping over and in them.  Square dancing is more my style.  Around here the square dancers wear those short, flouncy skirts.  That I would not want to do.  I’d look like an accident waiting to happen in a tutu!

  • Forgot to mention…My dentists used to be Dr. Hatchett and Dr. Whittle.  Not very comforting is it?

  • I answered your question about The Prestige on my own blog. I should probably say that as a general rule I asnwer comments on my own blog so that all my readers can see them more easily. There were a few things that I didn’t  mention concerning one of the objectionable elements, becasue to have done so would have ruined the plot. If you are really interested and don’t mind having the story ruined, I could suply more detials via messaging.

  • Nancy Drew was over all a good movie. I enjoyed it because it didn’t take itself seriously.
You drove past my house today and didn’t wave… :^(

  • Sounds like you’re having fun!!  Hope that keeps up for you all.

  • from Bland to Gross. hmm…..i think the next step will indefinitely be “odious.”

  • Momspaghetti? Erin Kling.

  • I’ve got the tea thing covered – I have a nice little thing which heats water for tea that I asked for for Christmas! Megan thought I was nuts to get so terribly excited about it.

But then she turned around and bought me my favorite tea for graduation.

  • Haha that’s funny. No we aren’t forest ppl if anything i start the fires. ;^)
Yeah when i was little and my brother would have to walk me un to the kroekers house, he’d always thing it was the other house too.

umm, i was sitting on our walk-way talking on my Cell to my Bro.

  • I have been having blogging delay as well.

Dancing?!  Shocking!  Thought you were a baptist! lol!

What a wonderful start to your summer.  I hope to hear much more about all of your fun.  I have been kicked off the computer every time I’ve come to check in lately!

Do you do any school over the summer?

  • Do you guys call each other by your blog names around the house, as well as on the computer?

  • DelGrosso’s is nothing.  We pass a hair salon that’s called Curl Up and Dye whenever we drive to visit our grandparents in IN…

  • Little Bear?  That’s a girl after my own heart.  We love Little Bear.  Nice background.  Here’s a joke for you:

If you’re an American when you go into the bathroom and an American when you come out, what are while you’re in the bathroom?

    European.  (You’re a-peein’)  : laughing :

  • My smiley didn’t work.  So I went back and read SoccerLowen’s instructions.  How’s this?

  • Mary,

RYC: If you are fairly conservative you may not like John Tucker Must Die. But on the whole it’s much cleaner than some of the movies that are out there. It might be similar to She’s All That and She’s the Man, maybe Ten Things I Hate About You.

    God bless you.

    Cynthia

  • In our town we have Earthman Funeral Homes.
Also, an Italian restaurant named “Crappito’s”
(I think they were on Jay Leno once.)

  • Are gunna see Becoming Jane|with Anne Hathaway|??

  • Nope, nothing in that post. My mind is completely blank and uninspired. I still haven’t come up with any ideas I like for my writing course, so I’m probably going to be stuck with an idea I don’t like. :-/ As for my layout, I’ve always wanted to create a black hole, and just have everything on my site be completely black, but I figured everybody would be frantically asking me if I was okay or something, so I’ve never done it. White seems less dramatic, and it suites my uninspired mood. Yes, I’m a melodramatic nut, but you knew that.

  • Our local theme park is aptly named Worlds of Fun! :)   Ohhhhh, I love summer!

  • You have a very good and relaxing weekend.  You deserve it!

  • Enjoyed all the misnomers.  Had to think of my own dentist, Dr. Hasty.  I do hope he’s not too hasty.  >8-O   And I remember quite well that I was terrified of my pediatrician as a child.  I’m convinced that his name has a lot to do with it–Dr. Burns.

I’d love to go to a barn dance–sounds very fun.  We got invited to a square dance one time, and I was bummed that we had other uncancellable plans.  I’ve always wanted to try it!

  • Weird…I thought I commented, but it’s not showing up.

Anyways, everytime we travel to IN to visit our grandparents, we pass a hair salon called Curl Up and Dye.  DelGrosso’s has nothing on that!!
