  • Another Perk of Blogging

I just finished a wonderful visit with LadyoftheManse and her family.  I met her through Homeschool Blogger, and now she is a Xanga Lady, too.  We had never met or spoken before, except via blogs and email.  I think both of us were a tad nervous that the other would turn out to be some sort of axe-murdering weirdo, but thankfully, neither of us were!  (Although I will not rule out other types of weirdo when it comes to yours truly.)

I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her, live and in person, about all sorts of topics.  Her children and Little Miss hit it off very well, and I enjoyed quizzing her husband about Great Britain.  They didn’t seem to mind that I fed them a supper of lukewarm pizza at soggy Halfmoon park for Gockle’s baseball party and toasted cheese and leftover pizza for lunch the next day. How can one not appreciate a family like theirs? All in all, it was a delightful time with delightful people.  (Excepting the black eye her son will have from a Frisbee.)  Huzzah for blogs! One gets to meet the loveliest people that way.

Teacherperson and LadyoftheManse together for the first, but hopefully not the last, time!

I’m working hard on this math writing project. I have a Friday deadline for one set. (I didn’t get the templates to start working until LAST night!) Currently, I’m wracking my brain for a third activity related to a census, averages, and small numbers. The small number part is the tricky one.  Plus, I have people coming for supper.  Now I sound like I’m complaining. NO!  I had a refreshing visit with new friends, I get to visit with friends this evening, and I have a paying job.  Plus, there are peanut M-n-M’s in the house.  But not for long….mwah ha ha!

    What’s your stress food?

EDIT– I LOATHE statistics!  I hate, despise, and just plain old can’t-stand-’em.  Yes, I’m complaing now.

  • Chinese food!  Whenever I hit rock bottom after a stressful day, diet or not, that’s what I have for dinner.

  • Oooh, what isn’t my stress food? Ha ha. Usually anything with chocolate hits the spot, but it’s better if it’s combined with peanut butter… Reese’s anything, peanut butter M&M’s, brownies, etc. Also, cheese. Nice thin slices of creamy sharp cheddar… so comforting. :) It’s a good thing I’m not stressed/depressed a lot or I’d be several sizes larger!

That’s so neat that you and LadyoftheManse were able to get together. I love meeting new and interesting people through Xanga… people like you. :)

  • Chocolate; But that is healthy since it comes from the vegetable family (beans)

What kind of small numbers?  Scientific notation small?  What grade level is this for?

  • How fun.  I’ve never met someone in person that I met online before!!  But that’s mostly because of the whole axe-murderer thing…

RYC: I don’t think I’ve ever been called “chickee-boo” before, but thanks for your affirmation.

  • Ack! What a red face I have! Oh well. It was fun fun fun! And I am so glad I got to meet you!

In motel now. I’ll let you know when we get home.
    I like your background!

  • How fun! And so wonderful neither of you turned out to be some dude named Ralph who sits around in his boxers, drinking diet pepsi and pretending to be a mom, so he can meet cool chicks. My stress food is whatever is leftover in the fridge lately.

  • How neat that you got to meet your friend. =) I was able to meet some friends from online several years back, but unfortunately we are not in contact anymore. =(

    My stress food is pizza!

  • Chocolate of all sorts, shapes and sizes!!!  Glad you all had a good visit! :)

  • I think that is great that you were able to meet your friend. And I chuckled at the above from tinybutterfly, some dude named Ralph, lol. Too funny!
My comfort food…I have too many to list!

  • Ohhhh, would that be OurLittleSchoolRoom from HSB??

  • It was very enjoyable having them come over…………..poor I, getting hit with the fribee. :(
    Libby :)

  • Still LOL at your comment on my post!

I am green about your trip to England.  Someday I wanna…  But I am content.  Really.

Watch that airsoft gun!  Make him get GOOD goggles and WEAR them!!!  Never accept “Oh, my wraparound sunglasses are fine.”  We are now paying retina specialist bills in the $300 range to make sure that ds’s eye is really going to be okay.    Of course, he played at a friend’s house and I didn’t even know about it, so it’s hard to protect against that.

So cool you got to meet a xanga friend.  I guess I’m sort of a chicken about that-got a good laugh out of the Ralph scenario above, though!

Good luck with the math project!  How did you get that job, anyway?  Sounds kind of fun to me!

  • Oh, yes, it would be GREAT if you could send me that tape. I got it all figured out with John, so we’re good to go! BTW, “The Wedding” it a Christian rock band. I hadn’t listened to them before the other day, but they’re pretty good, I suppose. (They had a hidden track on their newest CD — VERY funny. Me, DQ, and VP laughed about that for a long, long time.)

    Merry

P.S. How are Gockle420 and Natethehunter gettin’ along??

  • Statistics is reallly not cool at all I agree… and IG was excellent haha. I suppose you wouldn’t really be the kinda gal who’d dig chris evans but I’m glad the movie will still work for you :)

And that is awesome about finishing up that math writing, why ever did you have to do it?

    Love,
    Me

  • Yes, I’m sure our portfolioing is way overboard….we include just about everything….all the papers, worksheets, essays, samples of math, art projects, ad nauseum. Oh, and pictures if we have ‘em. We kind of had a crazy year (long story) and are running behind schedule….I’m still scrambling to find some of the work, (now, where did that go?), and the kids are just finishing some of it. Hopefully next year will be much easier!

  • Money is always a very grand incentive hahaha

  • oo oo I should have said: “Money is always a very grand inCENTive” punnns for the win lol

  • You are one of the busiest people I know! I am SO impressed!

  • Sounds very fun!

    Thanks for your encouraging words.

  • Wait just a second!  PEANUT M&M’s??? Let’s see, they contain ummm, nuts and uuuhh, chocolate, just like nutty chocolate chip cookies!  What a combo! The ladies in the photo look like a pretty good combo too.  Glad you had fun and no one left with an axe anywhere on their person.
