I’m losing in the fridge tour voting. No premium for me. Boo. (Ends tomorrow. I’m only behind by eight.)
My son now has his own blog ring. What’s with that?
Does my background make the site slow to load? I can get rid of it if it is.
It’s raining again. I’m not complaining at all considering how dead everything was looking. Yeah for rain!
My library is offering a free canvas library book bag to any adult who reads 50 books between June 1 and December 31. Oh, what I’ll do for a free canvas bag! (As if it is any hardship for me to read.)
Which brings me to another topic, Summer Goals. Do you have any? Here are a few of mine.
Reading– Read Joy Hakim’s History of US series, Apologia Physical Science, at least five Sonlight readers from Core 200, three “research” books on England, and a bunch of fluff
Gardening–Keep garden weeded and watered (H ar har har. I give up about the second week of July every year.)Exercise–Walk 2.5 miles or ride exercise bike for 40 minutes at least four times a week
Writing–Write
at least2000 words a week, not cumulative, on the Veritas novel. (So,
if I write 5,000 words one week, I’ll still have to write 2,000 the
next week, England trip weeks excepted.)General–Eat a lot of chocolate, pickled eggs, and fresh tomatoes, drink much Diet Pepsi Jazz Black Cherry French Vanilla, blog frequently, have friends over to swim, have several, large and moderate parties
Gee. Do you find me as deadly dull as I sound to myself? I shall take a hot bath and dare to eat a peach. (Ah! She’s pulling out Prufrock!)
Just so you have something lovely to see, here are pictures from the Spring Ball Saturday night.

Prufrock! Ah, your allusion made me smile.
PS. I am voting for you!!
Firstly, “dull” has never been a word I have used to describe you. Far from it!
Secondly, gorgeous pics as usual – must be a great camera you have to accent your excellent photography skills. (Yes, I inserted a smily face!) I am truly thankful that our kids have so many amazing peers with whom they can “hang”; we are truly a blessed family.
Finally, I wholeheartedly agree that Bkroeker and Flutemom38 were looking fine!
Very nice pics as always!! Your blog loads fine for me.
I read Joy Hakim’s series for school a couple years ago. I found her leaning toward kind of feminist views, which bugged me the entire time, but other than that they were good.
Make that two votes.
Well, you’re not quite as witty and exciting as I am, but you are at least playing in the same league.
My nose looks a bit pink in all the photographs…;p
I disagree with you, your blog is not dull. I especially like your first two “General” goals, sadly, that will not happen for me. As for the reading goals, forget it, that’s not going to happen. Writing would probably be to email a few friends more consistently. Gardening…depends on what dad wants me to do…. Exercise, i’ve got that one covered! But one thing that I would really like to do is get working on that quilt that only has one lonely square done and the pieces are cut out. I’ve haven’t done anything with that until………the beginning of December, I think.
I admire you alone for having those books to read!!!! Applause!!!! Anyone that reads that much is never a dull person. You have so many things to talk about! Go for it. 3rd vote here!!!!
I think your background is making your site load much slower…and I’m on broadband.
I have NEVER, NEVER thought of you as dull…..however I will admit one “PLANNING and LISTING” chocolate and pickled eggs TOGETHER, really made me wonder if perhaps you were “something else”??? LOL.
What “fluff” books are you planning to read? I have a number of books I’m picking up today from the library. I just finished TWO books this month (can you believe that?) I read T.L. Hines, Waking Lazarus and now am reading PLAIN TRUTH by Judy P(something).
How much longer until you get to England?
Morning!
Ok – I’m confused (normal these days). How did Erik end up at your house? How did I not know about this? Hmmm…. will have to find out the answer to this mystery ….
Love the background (how do you get the color panels behind the comments?)!
Next, I must second TGD “dull” would never be a word used to describe you!
Finally, goals for the summer? My life is no longer clearly defined between summer and fall but I still have goals…actually read a book (I haven’t since Brie was born, so sad), have the kitchen clean before we go to bed, pull all the weeds from my front yard, write more entertaining blogs are a few of my many goals!
I think I shall go vote for you again for the fridge tour.
RYC: It’s two of my brothers on a Boy Scout trip jumping into the Colorado River. Lots of good pictures from that trip.
hello Teacherperson! I found this blog while looking for Pride & Prejudice pics (I’m the *real-life* sister of Mr. Bingley)… and just wanted to say that I’m thrilled you are turning The King of Peach Fuzz into a novel! I absolutely loved the story! I can’t wait until its publication..
So there is your bit of encouragement for the day!
ewwwww i look gross!
Btw you TOTALLY blew us off today! We were at the Sheetz intersection and tyou were on the other side. My mom waved out the window as you passed and you ignored us!! ;^)
Do I see “Elizabeth Bennet” in the background of the picture with Nate and Erica?? I recognize the dress.
Even if it does load slower, I still like your background. I really don’t notice it being much slower for me– although I have cable.
By the way, I really like your profile pic! I was going to ask how you could eat so many chocolate chip cookies & muffins & still look so great, but then I saw your summer goals. I should walk at least 4 times a week, too.
Oh! I really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY love your background……not to mention your spicy “Do you wanna come in for a nightcap?” profile picture (JUST TEASING YOU!! ;P)!! You look beautiful and sweet! Honest!
Can you say, “WHEW!!!”, heave a deep sigh of relief and then jump for JOY!!???? I CAN!!! Today is our FIRST official day of summer vacation and I’ve already picked up my paint for three rooms, typed up our homeschool support group “Board Job Descriptions” & “Board Members’ Information” sheets, and I’m about to post a brief… uh…. post, and then get the paint out!!! (UNleaded, of course!)… sorry, weird mind fluff….
Your pictures are just gorgeous! Your son, “Mr. Darcy”, actually reminds me a little of O’Mar Shariff (don’t know if I spelled that right) in the old 40′s(?) version of P&P. He’s got gorgeous eyes and a great smile! But, I think it’s Wit you’ll need to look out for with those two bombshells!
Sorry I’ve been so scarce here in Xangaland……. trying to get school over with, house fixed up/in order (did I tell you we’re putting it up for sale??), etc.
Must be off a-paintin’! Hope you are having a fabulous Monday and are feeling loved on by the Father today! Ta-ta, my Dear!!!
aawwww…huzzah for summer goals. as you know i have resolved to not turn into a popsicle
I, like kim, have decided not to turn into a popsicle either… and I have also decided not to turn into a couch potato.
I’m voting for you! Hopefully a couple more TeacherPerson fans will turn out and vote by tonight…
The pictures look lovely. : pleased: Hmmm, summer goals. Right now, I just want to get caught up on sleep. hehe. I’m also working on our magazine, Bloom!, as we discovered that it takes quite a while to put together and format a whole issue.
So we’re working early for our second issue in August….and other than that, perhaps I’ll have time to think of something after the stress of K’s grad party is over this weekend!
Hey! I think i’m begining to figure this out! Stop by sometime.
YAY! Comments!
i wanna come.. what days work for ya???
I answered you on my own blog, for the benefit of my other readers, but all the same here’s what I said.
I’m guessing that you meant to say “I will be praying”, but you actually ended up saying “I will be I am praying”. What you could say is simply precabor, ”I shall pray”, which is proably the best way to put it. Or you could say precans ero, “I will be praying”. Or you could say precaturus sum, “I am about to pray”. As a side note, the pronoun ego, although not at all grammatically inapropriate, is not really necessary, unless you are stressing the fact that it is you who are doing this. And the verb ero traditionally should be at the end of the sentence, but that doesn’t really matter either. So, there you have it.
Thanks for the comment. I copy pasted my reply…
Thank you Mary for the admonition. That is a real danger for people that are in any ministry. Drying up!!!!!! I have to pull my husband away from time to time so we can have time of relaxation away from everything……., to freshen up physically and spiritually. We are praying that we can take our furlough this December. Pray for God´s Will and that He will open doors and will show us who we can leave the work with.
Thanks again.
Living room is almost done!! I’ve taken a lot of breaks, but, when it got close to Blake coming home, I rushed and got a bunch of the “roller” painting done so it looked like I got more done than I did! (Clever me!! ha!) I just HAD to have a dose of “OH! HONEY!! WOW!! LOOK WHAT YOU DID TODAY!! AREN’T YOU JUST AWESOME!!”…… and, it worked!!! I knew that would get him….. I probably could have asked for a diamond bracelet and got it after that, but, unfortunately, I must be pms-ing because, instead, I got my shorts in a bunch about something and got a multi-faceted “discussion” instead! Ugh!! When will I learn!
Anyway, I picked out a nice shade of very light taupe called Indulgent Mocha! Mmmm! The trim will be a subtle off-white called Silk Gown! Oooo! I ask you…. what kind of a color is Silk Gown??? I asked the guy behind the counter that question and he smiled. I continued, sarcastically, “You don’t think they’re marketing these paints toward women, do you?”. To which, he replied, “Of course!! Ninety percent of all paint buying is done by women!”. Wow!! I didn’t know that! I think I will stay up and finish the trim now that I’ve made some Xanga rounds……. maybe!?! Ooo! It IS late!! Maybe not.
Yes, you may now read the essay. I posted a link in an edit of my post.
Camp K. Turns out I have a harp lesson scheduled during the mini camp I would have worked during, and I really can’t change it since the teacher comes down here only twice a year or so….All the other weeks conflict with vacations, arts fest and music camp. *sigh*
Great pictures! I also love your new profile pic! Very pretty!
Great that you are writing everyday!
I can’t say that I envy you. I have a question. How do you seperate your posts so that it’s not a long strip with all of the posts on it? Did that make sense?
Ahh, lovely pictures! And yes, I would love to see you at Panera sometime!
I haven’t had any trouble loading your site, with your new look. I like it
It sounds like you have some great goals for the summer. It makes me think that I need to create a few of my own.
And you certainly are not dull
Is there a way that I can put a space between them like yours?
We finally got lots of good rain this weekend too. Our lawn is much revived! I like that one of your goals is “eat a lot of chocolate”.
Wow, just looking at all those things you want to do this summer makes me tired…or inspired, one of the two.
You have quite the blogging community up there in PA! It’s a great way to keep Tim updated on what’s happening “back home.”
Sorry about the fridge tour vote…I’ve been off xanga for what seems like a long time now. The pictures are fun. Tell me (again) -who or what group did the Pride and Prejudice play? They didn’t skimp on costumes. Hunter looks very handsome. Actually they all look like a vivacious fun bunch of kids. Enjoy it! I think your summer plans sound great, except for the book reading. Fifty books is a lot for me. I get so involved I can think of nothing else until the book is read, then I have to swear off pleasure reading in order to get work done.
