  • Summertime…

Today is supposed to be our first day of summer vacation as yesterday was Day 180 of school. But, some of the children (who shall remain nameless) did not complete their checklists which I told them 2.5 weeks ago MUST be done.  So, they are under “house arrest” until finished: no music, iPod, TV, reading non-school books, books on tape, going anywhere “fun,” and so on.

When I mentioned that this plan would come into effect for the Undone, Wit said, “Can we write to Greek churches?”  Hunter chimed in, “To the brethren at Wilsonia. Greetings in the Lord.”  HA!  See what comes from sitting in on Dad’s Sunday school class on the book of Acts? (Although, Greece isn’t quite the geographical area, I know. Also, if you are missing the joke, which I did at first, it’s reminiscent of the Apostle Paul who wrote a number of the books of the New Testament while in prison.)

Despite the fact that it is the END of school, I bought all our curriculum for next year today. Don’t you love shopping on the internet?  Sonlight and Rainbow Resource now have a large chunk of money from this house.  I’m planning Sonlight Core 200 and Core 6, Apologia Chemistry and General Science, and a bit of this and that.

In honor of the fact that my trip to England is in ONE month and SIX days, I made this photo collage with pictures found in Google images. (Thank you, Picasa, free from Google!)  If you’d like to see the picture without a big, grey box blocking much of it, go to http://www.marysellers.org/EnglandCollage.jpg.

What excitement does your summer hold?

  • Sounds like…….FUN…(can you hear the sarcasm here?) Although, the trip to England really sounds cool. I love the picture in the middle on the last row, the one of the cool bridge at night.

  • None of the pictures showed up????? I wonder why?  Maybe the pictures need more time to load up.  I have put a bunch of them.  Maybe it was too heavy of a load!

  • One of three of my children finished her schoolwork today, our last day of school. Of the other two, one will be living a life similar to some of your children. I’m debating whether to allow him to go to a wedding and a fun reception after tomorrow. The other child, I’m going to let finish up during the summer at a more leisurely rate cutting her a bit of slack since she’s otherwise pretty responsible with her schoolwork.

I’d love to see your itinerary for your trip. It sounds so fun. If I store up info on others’ trips now, I’ll be able to plan the perfect trip when I finally get there.

It has been pretty warm and muggy here with rain almost every day even if only for short spurts.

  • Kudos, Mrs. Sellers! Your collage is gorgeous – very spiffy, too.

I graduated tonight – so being done school is a theme right on the tip of my tongue. May you have a wonderful summer!

  • Ah! I love the collage, and a trip to England sounds absolutely wonderful. How long will you be there?

  • Miss Em and Grant are not finished with school until the 13th.  There was a teacher strike at the same time we moved. (was convenient for us)! Today is filled with t-ball and softball.  I am looking forward to pool side time this afternoon.

  • Haha…house arrest.  Lol

    Nice new background and pic!!!

  • I love the new background collage and the profile pic.  Looking forward to England!  Lastly, you had better start campaigning for votes for the Fridge Tour… do you need an active campaign manager again?

  • Check it out again.  I think I got the problem fixed!!!! I added a few more pictures.

  • Yes, it looks like you need a few more votes to win, but I voted for you if that makes you feel better! ;)

  • I believe I know someone else who’s children are in similar circumstances, but it’s not me! lol We still have about 14 days of school to go. Wish we were done.

    I voted for you.

  • My kid finish school on the 24th.. I’m already wishing school would start now.. LOL

RYC: Yea, it’s my orginality poem.. I write alot of it all the time.. After a while of display it then I turn it into protected.. :)

  • BTW.. that picture of you look really GREAT!!! :) Me likey..

  • I love the description of house arrest. And your sons’ comments about writing letter…too clever! Love the pictures!!!

  • A trip to Japan to attend a wedding is my summer (lifetime) highlight.  Your English collage is cool.  I recognize some of the places that I have visited.  Have a great week!

  • We, too, have instituted a house arrest. I just hope the jailor can hold up. Thank goodness the husband is back to help keep the drawnbridge up. I am wondering if I am strong enough to keep them home from youth group tonight. We’ll see. Wish me luck and a strong stomach.

I really like your fridge tour!! Hope you win! Thank you for keeping the fun alive.

Speaking of fun, I know that you are getting excited about your England trip!!! I know you are going to have a blast!

    Tata for now.

  • Your kids are hilarious! And SMART! I just finished an Acts class, and still I didn’t get it right away. And I love that part of their punishment is no non-school reading. Good job, Mary. I want to be like you someday with my own kids.

  • You changed your background!  I thought I was at the wrong place for a moment (love the pics though!).  Thanks for your prayers…I really needed them!  I miss seeing you!  Sometime, you need to come down and visit me so we can catch up in person instead of xanga and email.  One month?!?!  (I’m so jealous)

  • I love the England pictures – it sounds like you are going to have tons of fun on your trip. My husband and I would love to go to England someday, preferably before kids come along. I am already looking forward to hearing about your adventures upon your return. (Props for using Picasa – it’s a great little program. I love Google!)

My summer excitement comes in August when I get to see two very dear college friends get married (not to each other) on back-to-back weekends.

  • I’ve heard good things about Apologia…. I don’t know much about Sonlight.  I’m back and cleaning the house.  I have a lot of catching up on xanga to do too…
