  • Sleepless in Stormstown

Yeah, so I’m not Meg Ryan.
Still, I’m bright eyed and bushy tailed for the third night in a row.
Should I blame the antibiotics? Perhaps it is my own sloth for sleeping
in late. Maybe that Diet Pepsi Jazz Black Cherry French Vanilla has the
power to stop sleep–with mind bullets!

    Thursday is a cleaning and
baking day as we are having a vast number of guests this weekend. I
don’t think I’ll knock myself out too much.  We’ll just get the house
messy again anyhow.  Cookies, quiche, blueberry buckle, and a few other
things are on the make-it-Thursday menu.  Thursday night, as I’ve
already mentioned, we are headed to see
Pirates of the Caribbean. I have my ready-to-smuggle movie candy already purchased. Dots, Sugar Babies, mmmmm!

This random entry begs for photos. (Give it a Milk Bone.)

    I do love violets.

My watery siblings–so koi and camera shy

    Look, more flowers!

Last weekend, a lot of folks
in our neighborhood had yard sales. I didn’t go to a single one.  I
don’t have anything against yard sales, per say. But, I find that I buy
things I don’t need.  I also do not have yard sales. All my junk is
bagged up and taken to Goodwill.  Are you a yard sale fanatic? What was
the best thing you ever found at a yard sale?

PS–Not my pond. It’s my mom’s. Hence the fish are my watery siblings.

  • Is that your pond?  How beautiful!  My sister had a pond in her back yard and it was so relaxing and cooling to look at and listen to.  The flowers are gorgeous.

Right now I am trying to get my pool ready for use.  It is one of the round blue things with the shape of an elephant foot.  It isn’t pretty but it is wet when the temperture is 100+ degrees this summer!

No, I am not a yard sale fan.  I don’t go to them and I don’t have any.  I pack up anything with use left in it and take it to GoodWill.  If is doesn’t have any use left in it, it is garbage.

  • Wow! Those are some big fish! Very cool! I vote it might have been the yummy sounding Diet Pepsi Jazz Black Cherry Vanilla…I used to drink TONS of caffeineated stuff when I was younger and couldn’t figure out why I was never sleepy at night! Well, plus I am a night owl by nature. I donate to Goodwill. Had ONE garage sale and said NEVER AGAIN! Ack! I used to go to other peoples’ garage sales, but don’t do that anymore. It really is too easy to come home with “extra” unneeded stuff.

  • I am not a garage/yard sale person.  Nevertheless, Mom can’t seem to resist passing one.  It makes absolutely no sense to me…and it drives me nuts.

  • ‘Gotta love cameras!

  • Sorry you’re not sleeping–hope you’re feeling better anyway.
Email coming with details of our trip.
I DO NOT do yard sales–Goodwill for me! I don’t mind the occasional purchase though, but only if I’m with someone who is good at finding things.

  • does this mean i get a request? i would like to see your favorite book or cd.

  • well I haven’t worked out the details with my pirate gang, and I have no clue where the theater is, so I may just drive to your place (the only location I do know hahah) in order to meet them, and then by the time the movie is over, yall will be back from the baseball game. We might see it Saturday, and if that’s the case, then I will show up at the baseball game and display my sad lack of baseball knowledge for all to see.

Okay, I hope that made some sort of sense, and I look forward to seeing all of you!!
    Love,
    Me

  • oh! and do you have my cell numbers? could be helpful for whatever reason….

    k bye!

  • lol.. and I did mean to add that I’m going to message you them on facebook…………..

  • Whoa, that pond scenery is gorgeous and lovely!! I always love looking at those kind of fishes.. :)

  • Your “watery siblings” are cuter than my “Boston Terrier sibling”!  And I’m sure they are quieter too…

  • Beautiful pics – especially the pond…

  • I always think I could make so much money having a yard sale, but the few times I did I hated the confusion and mess.  I’m all for donations to charity.  The Salvation Army is located conveniently near our neighborhood.  Hope temps warm up so you can get in the pool!

  • Violets!  Very pretty!  I’ll be curious what you think of PotC 3 – I was really excited for the 2nd one and wasn’t at all impressed when I finally did see it, so I’m not following the release of this one much at all, as surprising as that may seem!

RYC (whee, that’s the first time I’ve used that expression! ha!): platitudes make me happy :)   And I’m impressed that you read the whole thing *nodnod* and yes, I’m still rather random, just in different ways.

  • I’ve not been wide eyed & bushy tailed during the night, but I have been having trouble sleeping. Maybe something going around? Maybe it’s just our age….. Hopefully, once you stop your antibiotic, you’ll be sleeping normally again.

Your violets are very pretty. That is one flower that I do have up here. And lots of them at random places!

After years & years of waiting for a baby brother, I finally got one about 5 years ago– the furry type. My parents got a dog.

  • Beautiful pictures. I love the fish. And the description of them, lol.

I hope that you were able to get some sleep last night. I hate that feeling.

  • How was Pirates 3?

As a child, I grew to loathe yard sales as I was always bored and it seemed like my mom dragged me around to a lot of them. As an adult, I enjoy my $5 mini-crockpot and $.10 apron. I sometimes go to yard sales if I happen to see them, but I don’t usually seek them out. I did go to an estate sale a couple years ago and got some nice things for the kitchen… much better than a yard sale in my opinion.

  • Pretty pictures, especially the violet one.  I don’t know if I will be able to make Monday work or not.  I’ll check, but there was some talk of a family boat trip to the lake.  You may just have to come to Hershey if you want to see me, because every time I come home, my family wants to monopolize all of my time.

  • I haven’t been to a yard sale in years. Like you, I much prefer to send everything to good will.

    God bless you Mary.

    C.

  • I found some pretty amazing shoes a couple weeks ago…..Two pairs of amazingly colorful Barbie-like high heels. I wore a pair today….;)

  • What a gorgeous pond!  I wish I could swim with your siblings!

I am about to make chicken stir fry for dinner tonight.  Chicken tenderloins from a bag in the freezer, and, stir fry veggies w/sauce from the freezer…… ain’t I a domestic wund’r… hyuck, hyuck!!

Will be doing more weeding & planting this weekend, if weather permits.  I’d like to post pictures soon, too, if I can get any good ones.

I love garage sales, but, don’t go much.  Have had 2 that I remember in my entire life.  One was forced upon me by my husband. (not really, but, it was his idea and he did have to push to get it!) But, I did just discover library book sales, and I must say, I may become a regular there!

  • have you ever tried grabbing a fish bare-handed from that pond?

  • Our neighborhood had a community sale last Saturday too. I didn’t go to any of them, and I don’t store stuff to sell for a dime either…..our storage space is more valuable than that!! (lol)

So, I make almost monthly hauls to Goodwill to disperse of our unwanted goodies. :)

I have found many, many good buys at yardsales…..but like you I tend to buy things we really don’t need.

Your watery siblings are cute! :D

  • Thanks for subscribing. I am glad you are here.

  • I enjoy a good yard sale.  I try to only stop at and buy clothes for my girls.  No great $20,000 Antique Roadshow worthy finds for me.    I do have a sale every May during our street’s sale.  It’s fun to hang out and see people rummage thru my junk.  I make about $40 a year.  It’s hard to justify storing something for 6 months to make a quarter, but I do it anyway.  (anything that doesn’t sell goes straight to goodwill)

  • I never can find anything at a yard sale, but my Grandma loved them!  How was your weekend?

  • Thanks Mrs. Sellers! It was so much fun…

  • Yeah, you’re right……

  • i guess it’s sometimes really fun to mess around with..
but they have ppl checking them like every second..because after i refreshed the page once..
they deleted all of our stuff..

  • Oh where, oh where is Mary?
