Catching Up on Random Things
My cold is getting better. No longer do the dark circles under my eyes extend to my chin. I still sound like a TB patient (Consumption be done? Of cough! Of cough!), and nobody blows her nose quite like Teacherperson (for those who have heard me live and in person). Actually, I was the sound effect in a fifth grade mini-production of Paul Bunyan. I had to blow my nose for the foghorn. Anyhoo…
I’ve been tagged and interviewed, and I’ve been remiss with both of them. I shall start with ChristianFictionQueen‘s Random Things post. The rules–
1. Each player lists with 8 random facts/habits about themselves
2. At the end of your blog you need to tag 8 people and post their names
3. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged and to read your blog.
Random Things
1. I’ve never had a legal drink of alcohol.
2. I often buy refrigerator magnets as souvenirs.
3. I take my tea with milk and sugar.
4. In my opinion, Jax Cheese Twists (puffs) are the world’s most perfect food.
5. I usually smell like vanilla.
6. When I was younger (um, ten years ago or less!), I hated to look into a mirror in a dark room for fear that I’d see something evil. Having a big mirror in my bathroom has cured me of this fear. I still fear a hand grabbing my ankle from under the bed, though.
7. I always buy Puffs Plus tissues.
8. I only paint my toenails in the summer. Now, for the tagging–I’ll tag the eight newest subscribers/subscribees of Teacherperson: Linaldawen, DiscipleshipAcademy, Belle2b, scarlet_muse, Godzgirl91, DandelionBall, ocelot61, and homefire. If you don’t care to play, I won’t be in the least offended.
Interview Me!
Heavenbound_gurl has interviewed me with the following questions,
so here goes!
1. What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Er, um. I hate to deal in absolutes. I’d say that one memory I like is a compilation. My dad used to play in a baseball league on weekends in the summer. I recall coming home from games with a big thunderstorm brewing. We’d come in the house and wait for the thunder and lightning. We’d have strawberry shortcake with those yellow, store-bought dessert cups and Cool Whip on them.
2. What’s your favorite movie
Urgh. Another absolute. I like The Saint, Pride and Prejudice (I actually like the KK one!), and lots of other movies. Romantic comedies and adventure romances are my favorite.
3. What is one thing about you that you want to make sure others know?
I am a Christian.
4. What’s your favorite indulgence?
I am a woman who enjoys indulging. Hot baths, reading, cheese twists, cookies and chocolate, lunches and dinners with my husband and friends, books from Amazon… I think my favorite one depends on my mood at the time.
5. If you had one day to do whatever you want, what would it be?
Capricious thing that I am, it would really depend on my mood. Would I want a day out shopping with friends or my mom or the girls? Would I want a day of everyone cleaning the house and doing yard work? How about a day to sleep in and read all day? I suppose it would have some of all of these things.
Hmmm…I suppose that was a dull interview. Perhaps you can do better than I! If you’d like ME to interview YOU, leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.” I will respond by asking
you five questions. I get to pick the questions (yea!), and I will message or
comment you with them and these directions. Just update your blog with
the answers to the questions and include this explanation and an offer
to interview someone else in the same post.
There. All done. Now, I’m off to watch Music and Lyrics.

Hey, the girl who played Belle when I saw her on Broadway, Brooke Tansley, is in that movie! (but she’s only in the first scene, and half of that scene was cut, and it was the half with her lines.) But unfortunately, I don’t really advocate her now. She has a gorgeous voice, though!
Yay, so I’m tagged! I love those things…hehe.
I’ll dutifully update with the answers sometime soon…
aww, i know it’s tacky… but i REALLY enjoyed “music and lyrics.” i think i was tickled by drew barrymore’s paranoia because i could so intensely relate to it.
oh, and about the hand grabbing your ankle from under the bed… i have always feared the same thing! i’m now 24, and when i moved in with my dad last year, i disassembled my bed frame and hid it in the garage. i sleep on a boxspring and mattress; that’s it.
Means this that all your drinks of alcohal were illegal?
What sort of “evil” were you expecting to see? I used to have that same fear of something grabbing me from under the bed. When I was seven or eight, I actually once considered hiding under my brother’s bed and grabbing his ankle, just to bug him, but I didn’t have the nerve to get under the bed in the dark for fear the fellows who are professional ankle-grabbers would be insulted at the presence of an amateur and attack me.
I watched Music and Lyrics over the weekend too.
( Dh was out of town- and I had to stock up on chick flicks!!!!) I am a true blue Hugh Grant fan……a music teacher….and I like to think that I write songs….so of course the movie was a hit with me!! What did you think about it?
You can interview me. That could be interesting and fun.
I can’t remember anything I was scared of–except maybe thieves in the night.
The first item begs the question of whether or not you’ve had an illegal drink. Right now, I’m working on getting the camp ready for campers i.e. hiking all the obscure trails and clearing them of fallen trees, etcetera.
oh,interview me,please?
gina
Great answers to my interview! I also have a unique sound when I blow my nose. My husband always says, “The circus is in town!” Have a great day.
We too often buy refrigerator magnets as souvenirs, they’re cheap and convient!!!
You got to meet P. at church??? I am so jealous! Hope your visit was a fun one
Oh yes! you have that wonderful pool! *glances enviously at the ice-cold goodness*
This was fun to read! I have a lovely collection of refrigerator magnets and fear the hand under bed! Oh, and can so relate to being self-indulgent! A day in bed to read sounds like a dream come true! You can interview me! I love games like this.
P.S. Glad you are feeling better.
I always leap into bed for fear of the person under it grabbing my ankle! (and I thought I was the only one….)
You are not boring at all! I always enjoy reading those kinds of things about people.
How was the movie?
Alright, I am trying to think of some odd facts about myself. The difficult part is to figure out which facts are not odd and then widdle down the rest to the oddest. This could be difficult.
I would LOVE for you to interview me!
I hate washing my face at the sink because I’m afraid that once I look in the mirror again someone will be behind me. It’s finally cured though because the sink is on the same wall as the door in our new bathroom (right next to it actually). So it’d be very tricky for someone to get in and end up behind me without me noticing.
You can interview me if you like!
It shouldn’t be too hard to think of 8 random things about myself. My life overflows with randomness.
Glad to hear that you’re feeling better! That lingering cough is the worst…I know.
LOL I love your Christian wrap idea!
I, too, used to leap into bed from afar so that lurking nasties couldn’t catch me. I finally was cured when I got married. Nothing would fit under dh’s waterbed.
Random things? But that’s so…random. I’ll think about it.
After five, almost six months of being the interviewee, it’d be fun to experience being interviewed. So, if you haven’t had enough requests already, you’re welcome to interview me.
Thanks for your comments. I have posted a new entry explaining more about the Purse project. Please, if you have anymore question, don’t hesitate to ask.
Have a good day, Mary,
Rebekah
To answer all your questions….or at least the ones I remember….here go:
1. Yes, I teach music. I teach piano…and used to be a substitute vocal coach. At one time I had 21 students in and out of my home each week for their lessons. I also taught music out of a music studio- but they want a whopping 45% of your earnings! I now teach from home.
2.I usually tend to write songs- not so much poetry, however what is a song, but poetry put to music? (lol) I also seem to write songs when I’m depressed or very, very burdened- so the majority of my songs are quite depressing. (GRIN)
3.I’m like you….I’m a Hugh Grant fan as far as his movies go- I couldn’t tell you a single tidbit about his personal life.
I can’t think of any other questions you asked…..
Which movies did you get at Blockbuster?
What did you think of the moooovie?
Any last-minute advice for the AP Eng Lang exam lucky me is going to take tomorrow?!
Glad you’re feeling better. Your Mother’s Day sounded as nice as mine. I was with my Mom and both my kids. I enjoyed catching up on all your latest postings. Have a good week!
Hi
you tagged dandelionball and then she tagged me so I just stopped by to read your tag! All your flowers are very beautful…lucky mamma indeed
and your site is very pretty, I just love flowers!
Have a GREAT day! Cami
Mary,
I just wanted to stop by and say Hi and God bless you.
As with so many of the others who commented above, I am very glad that you are feeling better!
ryc: I would count the calories BEFORE you exercise because you set up the amount you need according to the exercise you usually do! (Remember, on mayo?) BUT, at the end of each week it does have a place in the book to add up NET cals (after exercise).
As for the comments… well just remember, Are those TWO Girl Scout cookies REALLY WORTH 15 minutes of jogging?????
I have never had a legal drink of alcohol either.
Thank you for the disjointed compliment!
I enjoyed your post and learning more about you. My dad played softball and I have really strong memories of that too.
So sorry you are still ill. I’m back on the Claritin hoping that will help. Some of my friends are getting accupuncture for their sinus issues. They swear it is the miracle cure, I might try it, but have major needle issues so probably not.
i know…near-death by pre-school literature would explain my passionate loathing for those books in years past…
Grammy-peep? aww! i like that!
i can’t believe you’re going to fabulous London without me. *sulks* make sure you take lots of pictures to post on your well-read xanga!
TB or not TB? That is congestion. I think you’re pretty cool- and it’s fun to learn more about you through these random blogging games! You can interview me and ask me capricious questions, if you like.
Did you like ‘music and lyrics’? I saw it on the plane on the way home from Australia and wasn’t all that impressed. I found the story line sadly lacking. (Of course, by then I was tired of travelling, and I had already watched ‘Roman holiday’ and ‘The Italian job’, both of which I liked better than ‘music and lyrics’.)
Fortunately for me, you ARE quite pretty.
I think I’m going to steal one of those surveys and save it for later. . .
By the way, how goes it with good King Thrushbeard–er, whatever his name is?
is Music and Lyrics any good????
RYC – parakeets live around 15-20 years!
and I thought Music and Lyrics was a fun movie. Clean too. Of course they have sex, but it was implied rather than breasts, and rear ends everywhere. Oops, I just remembered that I don’t really think that Cora’s dancing was all that modest, but I liked the premise of the rest of the movie. Plus, I am an 80′s child. Lived it, loved it but never want to go back!! LOL
Thank you sooo much! Katie printed them out for me last night, and I found your valuable comments stuck on the bathroom door this morning.
They humor part about running out of time also made me laugh, which was quite valuable!
Overall, I think it went really well – the MCs were pretty good, and although I misstimed myself on the first essay (I thought I had less time then I did, so I was already on the second essay when they said “You are advised to move on now”…oops!), I tried to make up for it with my extended time in the other essays. I was very pleased when I thought of both a literature AND historical example for one of those “support with your own reading and experience” questions.
But I think that’s all I’m allowed to say….
Good information and nice interview but…………are you drinking moonshine? hahahaha
I collect keyrings instead of magnets but they are both inexpensive and take up small amounts of space. I am not so afraid of being grabbed by the ankle as I get into bed as I am of being grabbed by the ankle as I get in the car at the grocery store parking lot. oooooooooooooooohh, scary.
One thing I like about Gilmore Girls is the humor. They also talk very fast on the show and refer to things in such a way that you really have to be paying attention to what they are saying. It’s both lighthearted and dramatic. I highly recommend it!
That was a fun tour of you. What is the KK Pride and Prejudice? I thought for a minute the KKK had produced a version. They seem to be the only ones who haven’t. I wanted to ask you about the Indian P&P. What is the name of it?
-I am proud of your teetotaling. Good for you to be able to brag on that for your kids. I can’t join you in that one, I actually rarely indulge, but have decided not to abstain totally because I have a tendency to be pharasiacial -is that a word? For me it would legalistic bondage. I noticed I smelled like vanilla when I was nursing. TMI? I’ve also tried dabbing a little vanilla extract behind my ear like Granny Clampett. Jax cheese twists. Which of the Cheetos do they resemble. crispy or puffy?
And thank you for your lovely comments.
