  • Up from the Grave He Arose!

Happy Easter evening to you all, or perhaps you prefer Resurrection Sunday? Either way, I hope your day was blessed.

We began the day by getting ready for church and eating our usual Sunday breakfast, one each of those pop-open tubes of rolls, caramel, cinnamon, and orange. TGD and I have been eating those buns since we were first married. But then, we just needed one tube a week!  After breakfast, we hid the children’s Easter baskets and laid out their gifts. Since Easter is a time of celebration, we give the kids some presents in addition to all their jellybeans and chocolate. Snorkels and flippers, Bibles, shirts, a backpack, and and iTunes download card were among some of the gifts.   Next, we took our usual Easter pictures, although the four or so inches of snow kept us indoors this year.

We headed off to church where TGD taught Sunday school and led singing, Hunter ran the sound board, and LibbyK and I served in the nursery. It is a privilege to serve the Lord by serving others!  After church, I took my crockpot full of ham to bkroeker and flutemom’s house (home also of ghostfroggy, kleinekatze, wesjanson, and dance4eternity, and one more!)   Our pastor and his family and a college student also joined us in food and fellowship.  Speaking of fellowship, how much fun can four people have playing Password?  A lot, apparently, especially when bkroeker is not on the winning side!

The younger set also had a lovely day, as evidenced by this picture of Little Miss (now smiling) and GhostFroggy.

Many thanks to the K’s for having us over!

Did your Easter go as planned? What are some fond memories you have of this Easter or of Easters long gone?

  • Sounds like fun!  And wow…your kids have changed since June.  =)

  • I haven’t seen the kids in awhile… boy they look so much older than when I saw them last.  Maybe if you stop feeding them or something they stop growing so much.

Glad you had a Happy Easter!  We had a wonderful Easter as well….

  • What beautiful pictures…treasures all of them!  RYC:  I know…A coffin!  Our pastor always makes a statement…it was very powerful.  Be Blessed in this joyous time of the year!

  • Easter went off without a hitch, I played dominoes with my boyfriend’s grandparents and came in second.

  • Easter went as planned. The roller skates… er… sorry… rollerblades… were much more popular than I could have imagined. They were instantly beloved. Lucky for me, the kneepads, elbow pads, etc. also received approval. :D And we made it through another Easter without anyone relizing the Easter bunny is their own bipedal mother.

  • Yes, an excellent time was had by all of us as well! Thanks for the delicious ham and great fellowship! We will have to have another round of Password sometime (after the play:))

  • What a beautiful family you have!  Great pictures.

I’m glad you had a good Easter Sunday.  We did, also.  Just family, no friends.  It was a lovely day.  Chilly, but when you are inside eating Easter dinner, the weather doesn’t matter much.

  • Cool Picture of ur family.. They look awesome.. Happy Easter!! :)

  • oh gravy, i hate that picture of me! oh! oh! make it smaller! wow, you guys all look so happy all the time!

  • I had a wonderful time with you on Friday!  We must get together again before I leave…only five weeks away…eeek!!

I love the song that you put in your subject line.  I got to sing it three times yesterday…at the sonrise service and both the morning services.  For some reason, we only ever sing it on Easter Sunday.

I have already forgotten the name of the “site” you told me about at lunch, which is quite distressing since I have been unable to find out what happens next (I speak as if I have time to read:)

  • Beautiful pictures. You all look so happy. I’m glad that you had a great Easter. We did as well, with a few events thrown in but over all, it was a wonderful day.

  • They all look like they had a nice Easter!  Am I a bad mom for not taken a single Easter picture?  It completely slipped my mind, oh well!

  • Thanks for sharing your day with us! Some of us yesterday were remembering fond memories of….a new Easter dress every year, with white shoes, white gloves, and a hat…corsages for Mother. Oh, the good ol’ days!

  • So glad you had a joyous Easter! Several of us 20-somethings from church without family nearby all got together for a delicious lamb dinner and afternoon of games and The Masters. It was a last minute plan, but a good one. :)

  • Easter was good – very good. Julia showed off her new dress, shoes, and purse with adorable charm and we baked banana muffins. Not much “relaxing time”, but lots of smiles were had and the rest of the muffins were quickly frozen so we don’t devour them today. So glad to hear you had a wonderful day . . .

  • ok, so the other flutemom prompted me to come to your site and comment, so here i am. i’ve seen you (read you, actually) on bobsfanclub site. she was in our homeschool co-op before she moved out of state. do you know her personally or only through xanga?

  • Whew!! What a whirlwind week/weekend we’ve had!  It started off Thursday (actually, from Monday on, it was busy in the evenings!) with C.’s glasses being picked up at Walmart that morning (Her first pair of glasses!! Always exciting!), and, of course, we got off later than planned….. wait, wait, wait. Ran to the grocery store — that turned into a much larger affair than planned (1hour & a half and $200 later! Youch!).  I was going to just get home in time to meet the babysitter at noon ,when (thanks to the Holy Spirit prompting!) I checked my cell phone…. off! Oh, better check it! “New message! (babysitter:) ‘I can’t come to your house because my truck is in the shop! I’ve been trying to reach you for an hour! Can you come pick me up??’…. end of messages.”  Whew! Literally thank God… I’m in between her house and mine! Perfect timing, AND, an extra hand to help unload groceries!!  Unload groceries, dash to hair appointment, and, again, literally thanking God…. it took half the time to get there than I had thought! A little nervous…. hair is to be chopped, high-end beauty salon, don’t know the correct ”protocol”, but, I figure, if I just act like I’m comfortable, they’ll think I just fit in!!  Chop! Chat! Chop!  “Thanks, Phillip!! It’s beautiful! Say Hi! to your wife and kids!” (dole out an outrageous amount of money in the form of Visa and cash for tip….. but, it’s once every so many years, right!!?).  Stop to get something chocolate-mint & hot for me and babysitter, get home and gab a few minutes, then pack for trip to Holland!! Drop babysitter off at car place, stop for gas & lunch for me, and we’re on our way!  What was supposed to be one night, ended up to be two!  I rush home Saturday morning (making a stop at Walmart to check for my new glasses – nope, not there, yet! & Hungry Howies to pick up some pizza!) and make it home to find the delivery truck in my driveway to drop off and install my new washing machine!!! (My middle name is “Just-In-Time”!!)  Thankfully, they said they just pulled in!  (Rejoice! Rejoice! My first brand new washer, EVER!!!)  We tried to take it easy for the rest of the weekend, just colored some eggs and ate at Boston Market on Sunday (church was PACKED!!)  Which brings us to today…. my glasses are done, so I’ll get them, but, that’s the only excitement going on here, now! ….. Are you tired now, just from reading this?  I am!! ;)

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend! I like the yummy breakfast you guys have on Sundays. You’re making some great memories! Your pictures are great, too….. you really have some adorable children.  I’ve never seen a family where the boys are just about as cute as the girls!! (Notice the “just about”? ;D)

I didn’t eat any candy that I can remember, but, I did eat enough shortbread cookies to make up for any “nutritional” loss, as a result…… (tee-hee!!).

Hope you really enjoyed your Resurrection/Easter Sunday!!!

He is risen!! (response:) He is risen, indeed!! — I always loved that part at my old church! Does your church do that on Easter Sunday?

  • I LOVE blogs with pictures!  What a lovely family you have!

  • Sounds like you had a wonderful day, too.  Thanks for sharing your pics of the family.  And I love the picture with no front teeth of Little Miss.  I have a picture of each of my kids with no front teeth.  Past Easter memories:  a new dress and sometimes shoes, Baskets, with that grass that got everywhere, filled with candy and jelly beans. And sometimes an orchid corsage.

  • Well at least dad looks normal in the pic….well…come to think of it, Mike’s pretty normal looking in it himself.

  • HEY! She was the one that started it! If she wasn’t like, goofing off with my hair as much, we wouldn’t have this problem!

  • You’ve gotten quite popular since the contest! We had a very quiet relaxing Easter with my parents here (they’re still here). Hope you had a great day & enjoyed your family.

  • Thanks for the peak into your Easter Sunday.  I have always loved Easter. Those freezing cold sunrise services that implanted into my heart the reality of His Resurrection.  My dad as the songleader singing “He Lives” with a heart filled with passion.    Lots of memories of family dinners and egg hunts on the front lawn.   Last year was the first year I did not color eggs in my home in over 20 years.  The older I get the more I selectively hold on to the good from my history.  These are the parts of me I want to give to my kids and hear them re-telling to their kids when I’m even older.  We have always loved sitting around the supper table and telling funny stories we’ve all heard over and over.  Priceless memories…Be blessed!

  • I forgot to tell you what a beautiful family you have!!!

  • You have a beautiful family!

The posts I submitted are on my old blog.  If you want to read them it is…

  • Libby looks soooo much like you in that pic.

  • You have exceptionally good looking children.  I can’t get over Hunters, -is it Hunters? high coloring.  There was a boy here in the girls’ Christian Theater group with ruddy cheeks and it always reminded me of the Bible descripton of David, when Jesse brings him to Samuel.  I can’t remember how it goes now, but I always pictured him with ruddy cheeks and good humor.
