And Now, a Blogring?
Wow, she does have her own blogring. JuliePersons, I mean. I have one on Facebook. Does that count? Hee hee. (I noticed the date for her ring. It has nothing to do with this voting since it was started in January.)
Oh, it has been such fun, this competition. I fully expect that when we all head off to church on Sunday morning, the vote will not be so close and we will spend the evening drinking warm soda and reciting long portions of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Do I dare/Disturb the universe?/In a minute there is time/For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse. Or, perhaps not. No defeatist attitudes allowed here!
Remember when I asked a week or two ago for diet tips? I decided to try words_are_things‘s mom’s plan. It was simple, so I figured I could handle it. Don’t eat anything but raw fruit/fresh fruit juice/water before noon. Not so hard, eh? I’ve been at it since then, and even though I can’t say that I’m now fewer in pounds, I’m certainly getting in my servings of fruits! I’ve never used my cutting board so consistently. My girls love it. Fresh fruit salad again! Yum! I concur. Perhaps the benefits would be greater if I didn’t end the day with a bowl of chocolate chip ice cream…
This afternoon, a whole herd of teens will descend upon my house for whatever it is they feel like doing. I predict football, Ultimate Frisbee, and board games. We’re planning to have a hot dog roast in the fire pit, too. Sounds like fun! Tomorrow, Gockel (which is my new name for Michael the 10 year old), will be playing special music in church for the first time. He’s worked up an arrangement of What a Friend We Have in Jesus. It sounds really good. He plays much better than I ever did (which really isn’t much of a compliment).Did you ever do special music in church or perform somewhere? Do tell!

I never performed special music in church, which is a very good thing (I have absoluetly no talent in that area what so ever)! However, it doesn’t stop me from singing really loudly in the car!
Mary,
Bless you for praying for Crystal and her family.
I am not much of a singer so I don’t think they will ask me any time soon. It is sort of standard fair around here to have your own blogring. I have two that I didn’t even create.
I was just going to ask you how the “fruit ’till noon” thing was going — glad to hear it’s going well!
I’ve never performed musically in church, but I do dance in church. It’s fun . . . I just don’t like getting up extra early!
I’ve had to play piano in church–in my youth–and it wasn’t by choice. They didn’t have a pianist for evening service. I would call it hobbling along (especially when Dad chose a hymn with four sharps!), rather than a performance.
Hey!! Sorry I’ve been so sparse! I think I may actually be getting a life!!!! ;P
I went to a woman’s brunch at church this morning (we haven’t been all that involved in extra stuff except in activities for the children). I met several women, cried with them, prayed with them, and ate with them (the food was on the “light” side, however, so, not much of that!). It was really nice to get out and actually converse with some live, human women!! I’ve been such a recluse, not purposely, but, it’s been hard to “break in” to some of the groups at church, unfortunately, and we moved away from my church of about 17 years and some of our good friends about 3 years ago. It’s so hard to make new friends sometimes when you leave a group of people who’ve known you that long. I think it’s good, just hard sometimes.
Yes, the goofy jokes were ones I made up myself….. unless someone made them up before me that I didn’t know! I would have to feel sorry for them, if they had the same sense of humor as I!!! (tee-hee!)
Whew!! You were in an inquisitive mood yesterday!! ;D (Actually, I feel very honored that you’re interested at all!!) O.k., in answer to your questions: Voice!! La-la-la-laaaaaaaaah!!! See how well I sing!!
I have sung e’er since I was a wee lit’l thing, darn’t ya knawr (as close to an Irish accent as I can figure). I’ve sung in choirs, done solos, duets, quartets, doo-wopps, you name it! I played flute in elementary & jr. high, switched to bassoon (in jr. high, as well), took piano lessons for one semester in college (just the one year of college), so I’m not very good…. but, I do play a mean “Lavender’s Blue”!!! Unfortunately, I dropped out of all my instruments (except percussion here and there!) until about 4 years ago when I took up guitar….. gee, for that long of a period of time, you’d think I’d be really good by now!! …….eh-eh.
I got married the day after my 29th birthday, a workin’ girl until I had my first baby at 30 & a half, & have been sleepin’ in EVER SINCE! YEeeee-HAaaaaaaw!!
Not sure if we’re visiting B.’s parents in PA this year, or not, but, I’ll let you know if we do and have time to stop by for a visit. Pool??? Don’t expect me to get into my bikini for anyone I’ve just met (ha!! I don’t have a bikini!! Never have!)…… I wouldn’t even get into a one-piece!! Yuck! It looks like you have a large piece of land that you live on, from the pictures. Looks nice!
Last I checked, you were ahead in the poll by 16 votes!!! It wouldn’t let me vote from my wireless computer…. I think it recognizes it as the same. But I did get one vote in today!!! Yea!!!
Remind me to tell you about our new neighbors I met today! I gotta go! B. is waiting for me!!
Thanks for your compliment. Yes, that was the accident that did it.
Oh, and I have been voting. I just checked and you are both 27% but I didn’t go further to # of votes. I’ve heard of the Catholic doctrine of redeeming suffering by offering it to God. I know there is that verse too, about Paul saying he is making up in his body what was lacking in Christ’s sufferings, and I’ve always wondered about that. There was nothing lacking in Christ’s sufferings…
I’ve done special music many times over the years (piano & singing). Have you?
