Happy Birthday to GhostFroggy!
This is all so exciting! First of all, you are all the bee’s knees (and other various attractive parts of the bee) for voting so that as of this second, I’m in first place for Most Engaging Xanga! It’s causing quite a stir at my house. The first thing one of my sons said to me this morning was not, “Mom, why are you beating on my door howling, ‘Bring out your dead!’” (which I was doing), but, “How are you in the polls?” Fun! If you want to vote again (which you can do each day through Sunday), go HERE and scroll down to the left-hand side and click on my name, TeacherPerson.
Yesterday, a funny thing happened. In November, we bought a $300 exercise bike. About a month after we got it, the display and control panel started to fade and fade until they finally died a few days ago. I kept replacing the batteries and occasionally thumping it, but to no avail. Once it died, I called Sears to get warranty work.
“I’m sorry. You’ve had it four months. Your warranty was only 90 days.”
GRRR!“If you want a service call, it will be $96 plus parts and labor.”
GRRR! Do you have the number for the bike manufacturer?
(Dial, dial, ring, ring)“I’m sorry. Sears handles all our warranties.”
Well, how much to replace the entire control panel?“Give us your model number located on the underside of the front of the bike.”
(Much grunting and effort since the bike is shoved in a corner. Accidentally hang up while trying to lift bike with phone held by shoulder and ear. Call back the company with bike perched on the edge of the couch with me crouched under it, looking at model number.)“That control panel would cost $196 plus shipping.”
(Notices something never seen before since viewing the bike from a different angle. There are TWO places where batteries are needed, not one!)
(very sheepishly) “Oh, okay! Thanks very much!”
(Hangs up, gets two more batteries. Bike works perfectly.)
Today promises to be delightful. It’s Thursday (always my favorite day), it’s sunny, it’s GhostFroggy_123‘s birthday, and it’s play practice! We are all eating out at Long John Silver’s with GF and her family. I don’t have enough grease and cole slaw in my life.Do you like cole slaw? Also, when I’m at LJS, I always use about 20 napkins to squeeze as much grease as possible out of my fish. Does anyone else degrease with napkins? My family just shakes their heads at me.

1. Haha about the bike! At least it works now though.
2. Yes, I like cole slaw.
3. And yes, I’ve been known to degrease with paper towels and napkins. Grease grosses me out!
4. … you bang on your children’s doors and holler “Bring out your dead”? That’s hysterical.
Buddy is correct
We do the same thing with our fish from LJS.. My daughter and husband actually take the breading off everything from there before they eat. That’s the best part!! =)
Congratulations on the bike! Why, I DO like cole slaw, thankyouverymuch, but not the greasy fish. Oi.
I voted again today, and you’re winning!! Methinks you’re going to win.
thank you for your kind comment ~
Yuck, I never did like coleslaw.. Ohh darn about your bike under warranty expired..
I’m a sucker for LJS, Chicken Planks…mmmmmmmmmm!
I had a similar situation recently… calling a company tech support in Florida about how to purchase a replacement power supply, only to find that I just needed to take out one screw and replace two 9v batteries….
Well congratulations!! I voted for you, although I must confess I did not go to the other sites to see if any were actually less engaging than yours. Since I come here regularly, that’s enough for me.
haha my Dad sops up grease at restaurants too!
*talks with broken-up intercom voice* *static* Would you like *static* fries with that?
Good coleslaw I like. Coleslaw is good in tacos and burritos, especially fish tacos. That was a cheap fix, worth the two phone calls, don’t you think.
I couldn’t vote there this morning! It said I’d already voted on this poll! HOW RUDE!! Now….. I’m starting to worry that you may become……. a snobby celebrity!! (snicker!!) Don’t you let that happen, even if you do win this contest…. or I won’t make you cookies or write you poetry!! ;P It looks like you’ve got a few of new people commenting today….. ? Are you getting lots and lots of “traffic”??
I hate it when that kind of time & effort is wasted on easily fixed issues! However, I’m learning that it’s better that I didn’t have to spend the $198 and be inconvenienced! Yahoo! It wasn’t a hard thing to fix!! I sure do wish I knew you were buying a treadmill….. my husband is trying to sell ours. I’m still thinking I’d like to keep it as I’m cancelling my Curves membership (too hard to use with B. working 13-16 hour days….. maybe when D. is old enough to babysit.).
Not especially.
It looks like you are pulling further and further ahead. Apparently all your friends have nothing better to do than go and vote and get others to vote. I’m so happy for you!
Sometimes there is nothing like a good dose of grease. Here in the South we think of it as a food group! I grew up with my Grandmother(now 92) making biscuits with lard. Memories…Evidently the real stuff didn’t effect her longevity! I haven’t voted but I’ll check into it! I love Thursdays too!!!
Yes, I do like cole slaw. Yum!
And I do the same thing at LJS. But I love it anyway. Yum. Now I will be craving it, lol.
RYC, I’ll have to think about friends who can vote for you. Most of my friends who are into the blogging world you already know but surely I can come up with somebody.
Batteries… such a good thing.
RYC I snipped a bunch more seams on the jeans quilt tonight while chatting with my firend. I am almost ready to put the blocks together now. Woo-hoo!
Thursday has always been my favorite day, too, although I’m not really sure why. I’m glad you liked my post, but it was actually my second not my first. My first post was listed as private for some reason, but I changed it so you should be able to see it now. I’m still trying to get the hang of all this! I would LOVE to do “food and drink” with you…although I don’t know when. I’ll get back to you on that…
Question: What are eProps???
I’ve never been to Long John Silver’s and I sure hope I never do go…
Thanks SOOOO MUCH for hanging at Long John`s with us and for the many(many, many, many) soon-to-be-consumed Oreos!! Yesterday was a total blast!!
I like cole slaw, but only if its good. I won’t suffer through yucky stuff. We don’t do LJS’s. There has never been one near us no matter where we lived. I think I might have been to one as a little girl while we were shopping in Allentown.
I try not to do a whole lot of greasy foods, but there are times where I feel as though I could quote Mark Lowry, “Just give me a bottle of Crisco & a straw!” OK, that might be a little extreme & gross, but you get the idea! lol
