  • What’s the Story, Facebook?

So, now I have a Facebook, Mary Sellers.

So far, it is sort of confusing to me. Perhaps it is because I expect there to be more there than there is. One thing which is cool is the number of nifty groups to which you can belong. Someone has been clever with naming. I joined “I judge you when you use poor grammar” (which is just baiting me to use poor grammar in this post!) and “No, I haven’t read that great literary classic–But I’ve seen the Wishbone!”

Speaking of Wishbone, wasn’t it just the best?  I must confess that most of my Odysseus knowledge comes from Wishbone. (Sorry, Arohk!)   I wish they’d bring it back and have all new episodes, although David, Sam, and Joe must be in college now. Geesh, I checked, and that show aired from 1995 to 1998. They could be married with kids!

Do you remember Wishbone?  Do you have a show you wish they’d bring back?  I also fondly remember QED and Pretender.

  • I loved Pretender too!  Still upset that it just abruptly ended, with no resolution…

  • I’ll have to look you up on Facebook.

  • So, what IS a Facebook?…. let’s see….hmmmm……. Oh! Are you joining another blog group?  Wow! How do you do it all, girlfriend??

I never really watched Wishbone…. that was when my kids were babies and watched Winnie the Pooh, Veggie Tales, and Mister Rogers…. hmmm, nothing’s changed much around here! I wish they’d bring back Road to Avonlea…. not quite as educational in some respects, but, so fun to watch with my girls!!

  • I’m part of a wishbone group too but the one i’m in is called, Everything i know about Classic Literature i learned from wishbone.
And yes Wishbone rocked. we have a buch of them on tape, they were so good!

  • Loved Wishbone and Pretender, I’ve never heard of QED.  I tease my kids that I’ll get a Facebook account, but don’t you have to be in college?

  • Ah!! A big date night!! How fun! How exciting! How romantic! I take it you’ll be wearing a dress, hence, the shaved legs?!  My honey will be taking the late flight home tonight, so, we’re watching Emma and baking cookies….. ‘cuz it’s raining….. and we wanna have a “girls” night!! NO SHAVED LEGS HERE!!! (psh-sh-sss-s-s!)

Have more fun than you intended!!! ….. whatever that means?!

  • I loved Wishbone too. My son was only 3ish when we watched it. And like you, I learned so much about literature and history from that show. I think they could easily remake it. I always thought Jack Russsells were so cute, like they were such a cool breed. But my in-laws have one and she does not compare to Wishbone. Dumb and annoying and not able to do one neat trick!

  • Hi Mary!  Hope you’re having a good week.

  • Aww, Wishbone was a cute show.

Here’s the Hugh Grant movies I’ve seen…that I can remember the titles of, anyway:

Two Weeks Notice, The Englishman Who Came Up a Hill (But Went Down a Mountain), Four Weddings & a Funeral, Music & Lyrics, About a Boy, American Dreamz

Of all of them, I liked Four Weddings the least…it was just kind of blech moral-wise for me.

  • I loved Wishbone!  I remember being really scared for the Hound of the Baskervilles episode.  I’ve read nearly all the books too…

  • I love both the pics . . . your new profile one and the one of little Miss.

  • Life With Bonnie had a short-lived run.  I’m a big Bonnie Hunt fan.  Bring back, bring back. Oh bring back my Bonnie to me, to me!

  • I  think it was the idea that a baby could use a bow that annoyed me. I used to be very (i.e. unnecessarily) concerned with realism in art od any kind. I have since been reformed (to a degree), though I still think that the men of classical antiquity would find most modern and early modern depictions of him a little strange.

  • Cute pics!  I have no idea what facebook is, I will have to look into that this evening!!  Hope you have a great day!

  • Aaah, The Pretender. I saw the first two seasons of that but haven’t kept up with getting the DVDs. I think there were something like four or five total, so maybe this summer…

  • wow. Rachel has some serious distinguished-ness right there….she could take over for hunter! (i can just see her yelling at Lady de Bourgh!) And rest at ease, all of my lines are memorized. ;)

  • Darcy never gets enough credit….really, he doesn’t….

  • ROFL! I say that all the time. No, I haven’t read that, but I saw it on Wishbone. I want to join that one, but I just joined facebook a few days ago and I have no idea how it really works.

  • i love how darcy’s hat doesn’t fit him.  ;^)

  • Like your new look – it’s very Springy!  My kids and I loved watching Wishbone.  We were just speaking about it the other day.  They could start a new generation with Wishbone’s son or grandson. Saw your post a few days ago about dieting.  I decided a few weeks ago to get the extra pounds off.  This is what works for me:  1.  accountability to someone 2.  weigh the same day at the same time wearing the same thing 3. Drink at least 48 – 64 oz of water daily 4. I consume 1200 calories daily which consists of 4 bread servings (any starch) 3 veggies, 2 fruits, 2 milks (16 oz. total – try to use skim) 5 proteins and 3 fats.  Do not consume more than 4 eggs weekly or 4 oz. of cheese weekly. Limit red meat to 3 servings and eat lots of chicken and fish.  And the real boost is to exercise.  I walk 2 miles on the treadmill at least 3 days a week and 2 days a week I work out for about 2 hours.  The key is to feed your body what it needs to survive so it doesn’t go into starvation mode at the same time you need to get your motabolism moving.  Take your measurements and weight yourself the day you decide to begin.  Then weigh weekly and measure yourself monthly.  After the first 10 days I lost 3 pounds.  My goal is to loose 30.  I good weight loss is 1 – 2 pounds weekly.  So hopefully by August I’ll have my new shape.  I have some good recipes if you’re interested. And once a week you can have a treat – a serving of whatever you like.  The first few days may be difficult but you’ll make it.  One thing that helps me for my sweet tooth is to eat my calcium chew after lunch or dinner.  Right now I have the chocolate mint flavor.

  • Loved Wishbone. My kids were pretty young when it was on, but they all remember the shows and the books. I always made time to watch this chow with them.

I liked Pretender too, but wasn’t able to see the last few years. Maybe some day I will check it out on Netflix.

  • We loved Wishbone! I wish it were still on, too! It was a great way to learn the classics– especially for young kids.

I’ll look for you on Facebook. I import my xanga posts onto it so I don’t have to type things twice. I much prefer Xanga, but a bunch of my friends got the facebook, so I did too, just to keep up on things since we live so far away from them.
