Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
With apologies for dredging up horrid memories to anyone who remembers that song and its singer, I thus begin my narrative. I realize I reported on Friday’s activities before, but now that I have pictures, how can I not re-narrate?
Feel free to skim and skip to the end. I know that long entries full of pictures can be most tedious, especially if you don’t really know the people involved nor care if I got my skirt at Sears or Macy’s. (Neither, actually.)
We started our time without any film in the camera. It was “Beauty Shop” where we fussed with hair and lip gloss and such. After a lunchmeat sandwich lunch, we headed out to shop. Our first stop was Wal-Mart to pick up the film and some movie snacks to smuggle. (I see I’m not alone in this nefarious activity.)
Next, we went shoe shopping and each found a pair. The shoe LibbyK is holding was hers at the time of the picture, but she graciously let me have them by the end of the weekend as they matched my new outfits.
After shoes, it was across the street to Barnes and Noble, then to the movies, then to shop. Finally, we went to Baby’s. Here are the girls outside the restaurant. And inside
And me having a smirk and a chocolate shake. The next day dawned full of promise, especially after a good night’s sleep. My mom (also known as Grammy Peep) arrived after lunch. We headed to Libby’s flute recital, where she did quite well. Here she is with her teacher, Flutemom38.
Next, we hit various stores, and I was pleased to find a crown and disposable wine glasses for The King of Peach Fuzz. Paint the inside of those goblets red, and we’ll be all set!
Little Miss declared herself “Starving!” so off to Applebee’s we went. They have a deal where you get an appetizer, meal, and dessert for one price. I got the most delicious chicken Alfredo penne pasta thing. MMMM! Libby was in the mood for mozzarella sticks, so that was her meal. (We shared noodles and dessert with her, of course!)
Once that extremely filling Baby Bottle Pop was in hand…er, mouth, she was fine.
We were all ready to go home at a reasonable hour. I was glad to crawl into bed, for sure! Sunday, we woke early to head to the first service at church. We ate leftovers from our many restaurant forays for lunch. Sickie that I am, I had a nice nap. We then headed out for our final supper–Chinese. Now, you must realize that none of us really like to eat Chinese food. We just like to use chopsticks. The girls ate rice, chicken nuggets, and jello while I had Sesame Chicken and some various other mild foods from the buffet.Little Miss displays her prowess with chopsticks. I didn’t get a picture of the ice we spilled all over the floor as we were leaving. (I did try to clean it up as best I could!)
Our weekend ended much as it began, at Wal-Mart. Little Miss got three pair of long shorts, a t-shirt, and two summer dresses. We also got cat food. I bet the guy stocking the dog food never had someone ask him to take a picture in the aisle before!I am most grateful for my digital camera after this time. All my shots with the film camera came out greenish. Also, I had to scan all of them. Thanks for hanging in there to the bitter end of the narrative! As a side note, the menfolk returned safely last night at midnight, I’m sick in bed, worse than I was all weekend, and I am grateful that I have my laptop back (the guys took it) so that I can lie in bed and update my Xanga.
Kudos to LadyOftheManse, my 100th subscriber and a brand-new Xangan! She’s a wonderful homeschool mom, so I hope you’ll visit her site and wish her well!
Where is the strangest place you have taken a picture or asked someone to take a picture of you?

Wow! You girls looked like you are had a blast! Interesting blog. I have really enjoyed what I’ve read so far.
Looks like the girl-time was a ball!
I think the strangest place I took a picture was in an airplane flying with Midwest, where they bake you chocolate-chip cookies on board and then serve them to you hot, with the chocolate chips all meltey. Yum. I took a picture of the cookie lady as she came down the aisle with her fragrant wares. I don’t know what she thought.
Aww, such great pictures! You ladies are simply lovely!
… so how did you “fix” your thyroid? I have all of those symptoms… and I’m pretty sure I had them before winter started, to a certain degree.
Lovely pictures! Looks like y’all had a splended time.
I love a post with pictures. I also love girl time. Glad you had so much fun. Aren’t digital cameras fun.
Looks like lots of fun! Mary you look really pretty, I love the wavy hair!!!
What a wonderful keepsake of your weekend with your beautiful daughters! I love reading and sharing your pictures. By the way, we are proud of all of the things that we sneak into the theaters. When I saw “The Green Mile”…a friend and I snuck Taco Bell in. Gorditas and death row do not mix especially well…but it created a fun story. My crazy Italian friend, Mike, has stashed beer into my oversized purse before…funny. Be Blessed. Susan
Thank you, thank you!
Looks like you had a great time. Sure I can walk to my local grocery store, but this is one mall-starved woman out here in the boonies! Actually, I prefer outlet stores to malls, and I’ll soon get my cravings satisfied–two sets of them between us and our get-away destination!
Your daughters are lovely, and so is your Mom. I know where you get it from.
Blessings,
Karen
Beautiful pictures!
I personally have never taken pictures in strange places, but my good friend always goes Black Friday shopping — and then she scrapbooks her adventures. She’s pretty sure that she’s the only person in JcPenney’s at 5:00 the day after Thanksgiving taking pictures.
Feel better soon — prayers are coming your way!
Wal-Mart is the best…
Strangest place I’ve taken a picture…well, I don’t take many pictures, to be honest.
Looks like so much fun!
the strangest place i have taken a picture would have to be at this beautifully decorated bathroom at a rest area in Korea. they had live birds in cages inside and trees and flowers growing everywhere and my grandma wanted to take a picture there. It was very pretty, but it was extremely awkward.
Fabulous weekend! Thanks for sharing. The picture thing……well…… let me think about that one…. ~M.E.
Well, that looks like a lot of fun, possibly even worth a relapse… I think most of the pictures came out fine, the Walmart one was the only greenish one, but I know what you mean about missing a digital camera. I love how easy and cheap it is. Your hair is much longer than your profile picture that I remember showed it. I hope you’ll recover completely now. We’ve been fighting it for about a week.
Libby looks a lot like you, as I’m sure you’ve often heard.
RYC: I must confess to being a little lost. What sounds like a lot of ick, the house falling apart? And what does Whovian mean? And was Tom Baker a Blakeney at some point? I think I’ve heard that name. The Richard E. Grant Pimpernel series I have up is well worth renting IMO…I think he’s fantastic. They’re well scripted, great acting, sets, costumes…love the chemistry between Percy & his wife (played by Elizabeth McGovern). It’s a 3 DVD set of three SP adventures.
O.k., this is the last time I’m saying this to you, lest you become terribly conceited, ;P……. you are so beautiful!! … even in your smirky shake picture! Were you a model at one time? (no, I don’t need any money, in case you doubt my sincerity! ha!) You could have been! I love all your pictures, they’re so fun and your girls look beautiful, too, and, oh, so cute!!
I’m sorry you’re still a sickie. Boo-hoo! That’s just too long! It seems like a couple weeks now, isn’t it? Are you getting to bed on time? (as you can see….. I’m not! lol! However, once again, started the comment at 5:00pm, just now got back to it!)
No, I don’t have a corn bag….. wouldn’t that make popcorn when you microwave it?
No, I don’t bring in candy or pop into the movie theatre…… maybe gum? Our theatre has a nice popcorn deal, though…. all the popcorn you want and drink refills for $__ something, I don’t remember. But we don’t go that often to the movies, so, we don’t feel bad splurging a little.
I can’t remember a strange place for a picture……. OH, YES, I just remembered a funny one. My friend, Nanci, and I, before we were married (not to each other, of course!), used to do a lot of things together, as we lived in the same neighborhood. Sometimes, on our little outings, we’d take my camera and take pictures in unusual places like in the grocery store while Nanci was sorting through the chicken breast, or in the front of the local business while lieing on their dolphin statue out front. I also asked my girlfriend to take my picture in my college dorm while posing as if I were eating rat poison. I know there must be more that are more strange than that, but I can’t think of them right now.
…… don’t you just love how I write a novel every time I come here???? sorry!!
I am thrilled that you, LibbyK, and Little Miss enjoyed the weekend so much while the male side of the family was away watching wrestling. All I can say is – that whole genetics thing must be wrong – the girls clearly got more DNA from you than from me because there’s no way they would like that beautiful if half their DNA was mine!
Love the pic of you with your chocolate shake…maybe you should use it as your profile pic
or maybe the one with the chopsticks, I dunno, they’re both so cute!
love fun weekends…looks like it was a blast. hope you’re feeling much better soon. blessings ~ Tonja
Hoorah foor a nice day, and hoorah that I finished my 1812 report!! Our weekend was really fun!!
lIBBY
I read the whole thing and enjoyed it all. . . except that I had that song stuck in my head the whole time which did spoil the pleasure to an extent.
I love posts with pictures in them, though.
The strangest place I’ve ever asked someone to take a picture of me. . . ummmm. . . ummm. . . hmmmm. . . uhhhhh. I guess I’m too self-conscious for that sort of thing.
But I regret not having the pictures.
Speaking of pictures, no, I didn’t take those lovely cherry blossom pics. Those I found on google. If only we had cherry trees in Tucson! *long sigh* I have to get my fill of them through google.
RYC: Wow, what a story! That is unusual.
Looks like you all had a marvelous time! Good for you! I hope you feel better soon.
Sounds wonderful. You are all such cuties. I love long entries and pictures, so share as many as you want!
Ah, your challenge. Never fear. I haven’t shown you what I still have to do. The sleeves of the dress are pink, but the skirt is a multi-coloured pattern–a bit like the girl’s, but more colours. It will take ages… and then there is the background.
So type away on your book, my friend. I am sure you will finish before I.
Yay for fun weekends! Glad you all had such a great time! I’m strangly hungry after read the post…?
My hubby took a picture of the two of us sharing my hammock this last summer. That was strange (at least my kids thought so) I don’t tend to take the camera with me places. I forget to bring it to events as well. No wonder I never have pictures to share.
Looks like you all had a lot of fun.
Yeah! Libby! Keep up the good work. My daughter Rowana played the flute in High School Band.
I guess one of the oddest place my hubby and I had our picture taken was in a huge bathtub with bubbles surrounding us! Your girl’s weekend sounded so much fun! Sorry it ended with you being sick. Get well soon!
