  • What’s Going On

To answer the most-asked questions, we leave for England the night of July 7th and return July 22nd.  Our Globe tickets are for the night of the 21st.  Our credit card was not denied due to overcharging, but due to the fact that they thought someone stole our credit card.  And, I do like Lauren Willig’s books very much.

Today, my Photo Impressions software arrived, and after a bit of hassle with installing to Windows Vista, it now works.  Hopefully, I should be able to post amazing shots sometime. Maybe. Well, I’m no AimeeAnne, but sometimes I get a good shot.

Three people have read my first two chapters of Veritas (working title, The King of Veritas), and they have all said that it is indeed a young adult novel. Yeah!  I’m happy.  Now, I just have to fix all the things that I think need fixing, add more character depth, and write 100,000 more words.  I’m excited about the project and not fretting, even though I know I have hundreds of hours ahead of me. I should devote an hour a day or more to writing, but I think I’ll finish my Willig book tonight and make some notes on the devotional I’m doing tomorrow night for a baby shower.  Down time after the Bible study!

I was wondering. This trip to England is a life-long dream for me. Do you have a life-long dream? It doesn’t have to be travel or even expensive. What’s your dream?

    EDIT–Entries to GhostFroggy’s newest contest–Beautiful Baby!

       Seven month-old TeacherPerson.

Little Miss at five months. This picture she chose, but I played with my new Photo Impressions to blur the background.

  • Well, I guess I’d like to go to England too.  Play soccer with the natives.  =)  jk.  What are you going to be doing there?

  • I guess my dream would be to build our own home. But I don’t believe that will ever happen– or maybe it will after all the kids are grown & gone, and then it won’t matter as much to me.

How do you like the Windows Vista?

  • Oh, yea– KatiaFelonia moved into my old house. They are in the process of buying it from us. Now we can go “home” when we go to visit our friends.

  • Oh, I didn’t mean that I thought you were spending too much!  I’m sorry! :P I have just heard that England is expensive.  What a GREAT opportunity to go and ENJOY!  As I said, I am trying not to covet, but I’m unsuccessful so far!  I hope you can take your new laptop and blog from the Britsh Isles!  I know I’ll be checking in on it everyday to “tour”with you!  Happy Tuesday!

  •   You mentioning me on your blog is equally as thrilling as being “Psych Fan of the Week”.  Mostly because millions of people read this site, and probably only two actually care to keep up to date on the dorks who declare themselves a TV show’s biggest fan….

Anyway, good luck with the book.  100,000 words is a gigantic manuscript… is that specifically what your publisher prefers, or your own goal?

Also… I’d love to read some of it…  Alhough I quite understand if you’re not ready to let “outsiders” read it yet.

  • Great job on the writing! It’s wonderful you’ll be living your dream. What’s my dream? Wow, what a question! I’d love to regularly sell my writing, and I’d love to move back to my hometown.

  • Funny, I was just thinking yesterday that I’m already living my dream…I get to stay at home with my family, my husband has a great job that he loves (and that doesn’t involve more than 40 hours a week), and we’re in a wonderful church!  Being healthy would be nice, but really, life is pretty good for me already.

  • Go mom….you rock!

  • Congratulations on two chapters done!  As far as places to visit, I’ve always wanted to see New England’s fall colors. I’ve also always wanted to help children.  When I was younger I thought that would be accomplished by being a teacher, and setting up my classroom more fairly than some I have endured.  More recent dreams include spending a season to a year in a seaside cottage in a small community.

  • What adorable pictures! Our little Julia is walking now (very slowly, but surely!) and it brings smiles to my face to see pictures of other little ones . . . even if they’re not little anymore.

  • oh. my. goodness. BHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! Rachel is soo hysterical! i love the glasses!
Teacherperson, you were so adorable too!
    man.
that is adorable out the wazoo!

  • Oh, both are cuties!!  She looks like you.  Sweet.

  • (I’ve been trying to get back to this comment all afternoon!!)

Ohhhh! You are SO cute!!!  Look at those beautiful eyes!!

I’m so impressed that you are able to just sit down and start writing! I have to be in “the mood” and then it’s so hard to have that mood at just the right time…. blah, blah, blah, ….excuses, excuses! I’m glad for you that you are so talented!

ryc: thank you for being my friend….. :)  I consider you mine, as well!

  • Here’s one: to die cathartically.

  • That is such a great picture of you. When we went to Costa Rica last year, I called Visa ahead of time so that they knew our trip dates. I did not want any chance of having our card denied and then having to deal with the hassle while we were away from home. We had no problem whatsoever. And our trip was sort of a dream. We got married young and never had a fabulous honeymoon. So we went somewhere tropical for our 15th anniversary. It really was amazing. Happy for you that you get to see one of your dreams fulfillled.

  • I’ve read and critiqued all different styles and genres of writings from people I’ve met at conferences, critique groups, etc.  And I’ve never once read one that didn’t have great aspects of originality.  So I’m not worried about reading your book and thinking that it’s hideous.    Plus, I like such a huge variety of genres, especially anything that falls under romance.  Anyway, so I’d still love to read it whenever.

  • My life long dream — I was thinking I didn’t have one and then read BobsFanClub’s response and yes, I have a house in my head since 7th grade that I’ve wanted to build.  I’ve changed it a bit but not much.  Otoh, JerseyFam has a good point — my Beloved is in a great job which is such a relief from the situation at the end of his last job. I’m home with my family.  We are back in town with the grandparents and I’m now making a point to make sure we see them weekly.  Our church is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.  So I am praising God every day for all His good gifts.  If I never build the house, it’s perfectly fine with me.

As for your book, of course I’ll read it!  It’ll be the closest I ever come to “knowing” someone famous.

  • Thanks for the encouragement.  I guess my post sounded a little harsh.  But when you homeschool your kids they don’t have chorus and band, so…I feel they need the exposure to this area of study just like any other.  My daughter says I am trying to make her love what I love. She probably isn’t too wrong on that one.  I believe part of my job as a parent is to not only instill discipline in my kids but show them all the possibilities for their future.  If all they ever use their music for is their own enjoyment I will be happy.   We gave my son a small keyboard for Christmas because now that he lives in an apartment of his own he doesn’t have access to a piano.  He kept telling me he missed just being able to sit down and play for himself.  I almost cried.  Have a good Wednesday!

  • You’ll see it you’ll see it, in all my baby glory hahaha.  Was cute back then too ya know; still haven’t had time to scan stuff yet; maybe tomorrow afternoon  (I have an exam tomorrow).

  • Rach is going to win….no fair.

  • My life-long dream is the same as yours. To go to England. :) One day I will!

About the photo border….click on your “photo” button at the top of your screen (when your posting a new blog or picture). Select a picture to post. When you have the picture selected at the bottom of the white window are the options. I always use a solid border (there are other options) and I always do the 5 pixel line. :)

If you still can’t find it let me know, I’ll be more thorough in my explanation.

  • The web picture was found on a free site somewhere.  I may start an album of webs I find in my yard.  I think planning for a trip is almost as exciting as going on it.  Later!

  • Indeed you did take that picture at the Alamo. I like the flowers, they are really pretty. Your picture and Little Miss’ picture are cute cute cute.
    Libby :)

  • who?who?who?who is he?(assuming its a he, that is) i`m dying here, teacherperson!!! its not nice to hint at something but never give the answer! i do it often enough to know!

oh well, i forgive you. kudos on your cow-worthy spawn!

  • Dancing??? YAY!!! I love dancing! I am very excited…It’s been a pretty exciting week, actually…;)I think I’m going to Schlow tomorrow. I think.

  • Awwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! Adorable pictures. I like your new profile pic, too.

Hehe, I know there isn’t a copyright on names, but I’d like to at least realize it when I’m copying them!! I’m too young to be going senile!!

I can’t wait until I have my own personal copy of The King of Veritas sitting on my book shelf. I loved the play and I know I’m going to love the book, too! I’m excited to read it.

    Love ya!

    ~Britt
