Food for Thought
The Bible study went well, and I thank you for your prayers. We had four ladies besides my friend and me. I was able to get the study done in the allotted time, and I think that the women there got some things out of it. It’s a basic study, nothing super-deep, which was the goal.
It’s cold here, so I made sausage biscuit bites for lunch. In the tradition of MathMom, I’ll give you the recipe. It’s a great lunch to make with kids and for the kitchen-impaired. Actually, they were an appetizer recipe, but they make a nice lunch, too.
Sausage Biscuit Bites
One box of frozen sausage links, defrosted
Two cans of buttermilk biscuit dough (those whack-on-the-counter-and-pop-open ones)
Parmesan cheese (optional)
Roll out the biscuit dough into bigger circles (favorite of preschoolers and olders alike). Roll the dough around the sausage. Cut sausage roll into four or five pieces (so they are little, round buttons) and place on cookie sheet. Divide the extra dough into balls (four per biscuit) and put on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. (It also works to have each dough ball and piece individually dipped in P. cheese, especially if you have many eager hands clamoring to help.
Bake at about 400 for about 10 minutes. (I’m an imprecise cook. Sorry.)
The strains of Godspell are filling the house. I first discovered this soundtrack at the tiny Curwensville Public Library in my hometown, and I checked out that cassette tape (and the Camelot soundtrack) almost constantly. I put my own copy of Godspell in the CD player yesterday and began squalling along, “Turn back, oh man, foreswear thy
foolish waaaaays!” My kids looked at me askance and asked, “WHAT is
this?” I replied, “When you get to heaven you’ll be blessed. Yes, it’s all for the best!” Ah, but today, Little Miss was singing along. A convert.
Do you have a soundtrack or CD which brings back memories for you? (I didn’t even mention Glass Houses…You may be wrong, but you may be ri-iight!)

Bring it on, cholesterol! Bring it on!
I wanted to see if I could listen to that CD online, but I had too many windows open and my computer froze up and I had to shut things down and now I have to leave, but I’ll try again later.
Hehe, I should make Sam a procrastinating writer. If only! Right now he’s bothering me immensely because I can’t find an internal conflict for him. I made a huge list of possibilities and none of them seemed to fit and now I want to wallow in the misery of dispair, only I’ve already done that. Quite a few times. And it doesn’t help.
Stinking Sam!
ohman.. so many cd’s that bring back memories like nobodies business. Although the only soundtrack that comes to mind is Dirty Dancing. Strange, I know. Have you read my book yet? Or snippet of a book I should say. Tell me, tell me when you do! I’m curious after your immediate thoughts etc…
And my next post will have stuff about my classes… it’s been a long day for me so we’ll see if that post happens tonight
Daniel
And read George Sand. She writes excessively well.
Glad your study went well! There are just too many songs to list that have a special memory…oh, there’s one…”Meeeeemorieeeees, all alone in the moonlight…”
Fifteen years is rather too short a time to have had many memories to bring back, but the RotK soundtrack tends to remind me of the day I finished my first major writing project.
Well, I probably should not admit it, but there are many Kansas songs that come to mind (I was a huge fan of Kansas in high school and college). Point of No Return, Dust in the Wind, Carry on my Wayward Son, … Also, I was openly mocked recently by some Penn State students at our church (just for fun, of course) for my love of Petra in college, so I will say no more.
RYC: Mom!
He-he…..you have a convert!!! (lol) Oh my goodness…..soundtracks that bring back memories??? All of my MEMORIES ARE OF SOUNDTRACKS! I can hardly think of a single memory that isn’t accompanied by some sort of music, whether it’s church hymns, movie soundtracks or cassette of favorite artists (mainly Amy Grant).
Oh…and the soundtrack to GREASE HAS TO BE MENTIONED HERE SOMEWHERE!!!! (LOL)
Speakign of GREASE….the sausage bites sound yummy! (HE-HE!!)

Godspell sounds vewy intewesting. I should listen to it sometime.
You sausage biscuit bites sound good. I’ll have to try it sometime.
Haven’t even thought of Godspell in ages! Where has the time gone?? I think the most memorable “album” I have is a copy onto cassette of my mother’s Fred Waring & the Pennsylvanians “The Sounds of Christmas.” (Which I lost somehow during the move– maybe got accidentally thrown away?
) She only had Fred Waring Christmas music when I was growing up & that’s what we listened to while decorating. It’s just not the same without it & I can’t find cd versions anywhere.
I saw Godspell live in Boston with my 7th grade social studies class. I really have not thought of it since either.I am not a huge fan of it, though. Yes, recently I have started listening to CDs
from my teenage years– James Taylor, Carpenters, Bread, America, etc. and many memories come with them. My theory is that the older we get, the more we start to think of our past and enjoy recalling memories.
RYC: Yes, I had the album with the 3-D pencil on it!!! (lol) The funny thing is my nickname (per my husband) is Sandie…..so when he needs soap, an ironed shirt, or standing in the shower in need of a towel….he sings out, “SANNNNDY, SANNNDY I’m in misereeeeeeeeeeeee!” It was cute the first two years we were married….now it’s rather annoying!! LOL!
Also, theres a website called http://www.ksolo.com that is an online karaoke site. It’s SO MUCH FUN!!! DH and I sang ALL The songs from Grease a few weeks ago- laughing our heads off!!! I bet you and your new converts will love it too!
RYC: Thanks for the links, but those are all the same ones I could find. The only site I could find his “Sounds of Christmas” only had vinyl, and I don’t have a record player anymore. Although, I heard that they’re coming back….
“Hybrid Theory” by Linkin Park, just because every PAHomeschoolers password I ever get is related.
Thanks for the info, but they’re still vinyl. Oh well…… If my mom still has her album, maybe I can get her to tape it for me (if she has a record player!).
RYC: I believe this is Harriet Evans’ first novel, and it is amazingly written. It’s contemporary lit. Not mystery, just family drama and relationships. It is not from a Christian publisher but as far as mainstream fiction goes, it is some of the better and is mostly “clean”. (There is some language and other minimally-detailed but implied content.) So, I would not recommend it unless I knew the person well enough to know they wouldn’t be offended by the content that is in it.
The cd called MOB HITS–music from and a tribute to the great mob movies brings back a fun memory. The first time David and I heard this was when we were in Maine staying with my aunt and uncle. My uncle had this cd playing one morning as he was making pancakes with Maine blueberries for us. It’s a great cd filled with classics. When we were back home we bought the cd and I always think of that time in Maine when I hear it.

Man, you get all the comments….no fair!
Hi. Just came by to say hi. I saw your blog on a blogring I belong to. Have a great day!
Good morning Mary. God bless you
I like that song by the Eurythmics, but not really anything else. That song is just pretty darn cool.
Also, Mike Roe has been around since the early 80s in the band the 77s. He also does amazing solo work, and collaborates with another of my favorite bands, The Lost Dogs. But just because you haven’t heard of him doesn’t make you old. In fact, more of my generation are likely to never have heard him than those of your generation. The only reason I love his work so much is that he is also one of my dad’s favorites, and I was raised on hearing Mr. Roe’s excellent work. http://www.michaelroe.com or http://www.thelostdogs.com or http://www.77s.com.
And that is quite a bummer about the library. That’s why I gave up on them years ago, and spend all my time (and money) in Barnes and Noble.
Don’t worry about it… here I was planning on writing about my classes yesterday and I still haven’t gotten around to it. I finished The Bagpipers, and I really can’t recommend it as far as the plot goes–there is nothing exceptional about the plot and that is normally very important to me with books (for instance, Jasper Fforde’s books), but she shows so much incite into the human condition that I put her in the same category as Dostoyevsky himself.
Bye,
Me
I saw Godspell in San Francisco on a theater trip, then again at a nearby college and again at my junior college. All three were great performances, MUCH better than the movie! That was when it was a new musical too, so it’s been a while. Tertia was stage manager for Godspell, the spring musical at her college so it was great to see it again. I’m always running a sound track in my mind, but don’t always pay attention to it.
Yeah, I guess I am just so spoiled with all of that stuff. Haha
Libby
There’s no sound track like Camelot!!! Except I don’t like the words to “The Lusty Month of May”…. but I love the tune, so I change the words to “The Lovely Month of May”, but the rest of the song, I kinda don’t listen to.
Yummy!! Sausage biscuit bites! I’ll have to try that soon!! We’re sick-o’s here, so getting food to the masses is more and more complicated!!
Hi Mary! We sang Godspell in my high school choir and I liked it. Pre-e-e-pare ye the way of the Lord! That’s the tune that comes to my mind.
The soundtrack to Annie has to bring back the most memories. I went with my 5th gr. class to see it in NYC and dreamed of being Annie myself. Jenny V. got the solo to sing “Maybe” in the 6th grade variety show so you see even in my little elementary school pond I was not cut out for Broadway. However, I have great memories of singing “Tomorrow” at the top of my lungs to my friend Caroline. She would laugh and say, “Sing it louder!”. I would sing till my tonsils popped out of my nostrils and she would respond, “Louder!”. Boy, those are funny memories for me and I am laughing out loud just at the thought of them.
Glad to hear the Bible study went well. We are enjoying a lot of snow.
I just saw your comment. No, not warm AT ALL!! But it feels warmer because it got up to 16 degrees today instead of only 6 or 9!! We had a GAME DAY today!! (I’m such a loafer!!;P) My husband was home today with a virus and I’m struggling with an earache (a little better tonight, tho’, after a heating bag!), so I just pulled out any game that looked educational and said, “You play with her, and you play with her!”. And we took turns playing Snakes & Ladders, Memory, various computer games, and I don’t even know what all they played while I was doing…. whatever it was that I did today! But it was nice to be laid back and not do much since we feel poopy. We even had pizza tonight!
Take care & keep warm-m-m–m-m-m-m-m-m!!
