Carnivore
Did you ever crave a big steak? (Not you, ElizabethDNB.) I’m having one of those days…eggs, turkey, chicken, beef–bring it on! I suppose I must be low on protein. I don’t usually have a excessive amount of meat in my diet (usually one meal a day at the most). Perhaps this craving is my body’s way of helping me to fight off those flu germs which are swirling around my house?
Thankfully, no one else has fallen into the feverish talons of Flu. TGD is back to work today, although he’ll more than likely be exhausted when he gets home as Sunday was his first fever-free day.
I’d appreciate prayers for a Bible study which starts tonight. A friend and I are having a study using the Navigator book, Jesus Cares for Women. The people we expect to come are women who are new Christians/unsaved/saved with troubled lives. I’m leading the study, and my friend is the hostess (with chocolate chip cookies!). LibbyK and my friend’s daughter are going to babysit at the house while the study is going on. Please pray that God would convict the hearts of those He wants to come to this study and that I would be an instrument in His hands and say just what He would have me to say.
In regards to the pit bull/shark question, I think AggieSoonerMom had the best answer. My answer was shark. I am sure that an attack would traumatize me for life. However, I’d rather be scared of the ocean than of all dogs as one is easier to avoid than the other.
What’s your favorite thing to do when it’s C-O-L-D? (Nine degrees for a high today, I believe.) I have the gas fireplace on. If I had a blanket, book, and a cup of tea, then I’d be approaching favorite. Instead, I’ve got a warm computer and a bunch of homeschooling. I’ve got Saxon to keep me warm! (Probably better if sung with large arm gestures.)

My fav cold weather activity is laying on the couch watching a good (or bad) chick flick movie. However, here in TX I don’t have many chances to curl up in cold weather. Today Brie and I went on a walk it’s 70 degrees!
Go Saxon :0 I liked the first image you described: there is really nothing on this good earth that beats reading by a fire place!
RYC: Working on it right now!!!
9 degrees …that’s warm compared to our high of Zero today! CRAZY weather.
I’ll be praying for your Bible Study! I have been leading a group for about three years and what a BLESSING it is! We started out slow and basic and now we are embarking on Pilgrim’s Progress. It has been so neat to see God work in the lives of these women over the years! I pray that God uses you this evening and your daughter as she babysits. Both tasks have great worth in the Kingdom of God!
Enjoying a mug of hot cocoa and a good book–while it is snowing outside tmk
Hope you got to enjoy a giant steak today and that it will keep you healthy! Considering the windchill, our high temperature today was 0. Yikes! We just stayed inside and read books under a blanket.
YES!! I love a good steak every now and then!! Charcoal-seared and warm red in the middle (a.k.a. – Medium Rare), with a nice fluffy baked potato rubbed in kosher salt, with sour cream AND butter, and a big salad with sunflower seeds, cukes, green pepper, red onions sliced really thin & piled on, grape tomatoes, a little cheddar shredded over it, croutons and a splash of ranch dressing!! It’s called Mountain Jack’s and it’s the only place to get a really good steak OR salad around here!! ….. can you tell I’m hungry????
O.k., for cold weather, I love to get out my daughter’s quilt…. you know, the perpetual “quilt in progress”….., or a knitting project and cozy up next to an nice hot wood-burning stove with a cup of coffee and pretend I’m Caroline Ingalls as my daughters read to me out of any of the Jane Austen books, Little House books, or the Bible (not necessarily in that order!), or work on their own knitting projects. I REALLY LOVE my wood-burning stove!!
I think it’s great that you’re leading a Bible study!! That’s fabulous! Don’t worry, though,…… with chocolate chip cookies, you really can’t go wrong!!!
Our high was 9 degrees as well! Sunday night, the wind chill factor went down to -21 degrees!! YIKES! No wonder it took so long to get the house warmed up when we got home!!
Dear Mary,
There is a book written by that girl that got her arm bit off by the tiger shark in HI, while surfing. She is a Christian and glorified God through the whole thing–it was a great book. That being said–I have been petrified of sharks ever since JAWS and don’t really like the ocean anyway (salt–sand–messy!). BUT eveyrthing I have read about shark attacks is that they usually are not fatal, they usually don’t hurt (at first, I’m sure is what they meant in the articles I’ve read–and I’ve read quite a few–since we t hought we were going to move to FL) and people usually don’t lose any limbs (although one guy lost a PINKY–I dont’ get it.). So–I choose SHARK bite, because if you were actually going to die, you wouldn’t feel the pain right away and t hen you woudl probably drown before actually being eaten alive, so that’s my choice. (Grim, aren’t I?)–Corrine
On chilly days, I like to sit by the warm fire and watch a good movie.
what i do on cold days? why, what every other enslaved student does! algebra calls….
Your Bible study sounds wonderful, I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Oh, and so far you still hold the top score on my quiz. Well, my husband took it and scored 100%, but I deleted that score. The score showed up as Heather H, and I didn’t think it looked right to have the top score be mine. Everyone else is scoring 20% to 40%. I think I made my questions too hard.
Yes! I crave a big steak. Now actually, and am patiently waiting until I go shopping.
Cold nights, curl up drinking something warm (tea usually) and read or watch tv.
Let us know how your Bible study goes. I will pray for your study.
Ahh, thanks for the gerund info. I now know what it is, much to my delight! (No more digging around for old grammar books!)
I hope your Bible study went well . . . and that you stayed warm! I’m quite ready for spring.
Mmmmmm…. protein…..
Homeschool is not very warming, is it? Especially when the room you do homeschool in is the coldest room in the house! Oh, well, keeps the kiddos awake.
“I love the win-ter wea-ther, just as long as we can be together. I love the win-ter wea-ther, ’cause I got my love to keep me warm.” I like to walk through the frosty night to a Christmas concert or pageant looking at a sky full of stars and watching my breath make a white cloud, and I like to have a fire, and put my back to it, and drink hot cocoa or sweetened milk sprinkled with nutmeg and talk.
