  • Weirdo

AJ1965 tagged me to share with everyone in Xanga-Land how weird I am.  Nothing, however will beat AJ’s own weirdness of biting her cats.  But, here are a few of my many foibles and oddities.

    1. A sliced Macintosh apple with salt, a bowl of Jax cheese twists, and a Pepsi constitute my favorite lunch. (If you end with a homemade chocolate chip cookie, it’s perfect!)

    2. I feel guilty if I read for pleasure before 9:00 p.m. (unless it is Sunday).

    3. I’m still afraid that something is under the bed at night and will grab my ankle. This fear occasionally extends to the day.

Gee, this is hard. What else is weird about me that I’m willing to share with everyone?

    4. I’m the Becky Bloomwood of the library and regularly max out my library card at 99 items.

    5.  My littlest toenails are so tiny, they’re almost nonexistent.

I’m supposed to tag five others, but I’m not going to. I don’t like to forward forwards either, but that’s not so weird, is it?  If you feel inclined to answer, I’d be delighted to read your reply.

In other news, Little Miss’ glasses were found by The Hunter.  Strangely enough, the last time they were lost, Hunter found them and in almost the same place. Guess we should have checked there first, eh?

Has anyone else ever read The Secret History of the Pink Carnation?  I am currently reading it, and I’m not sure what to think. The problem with it is that it is a hardback book.  When a book is hardback, I have higher expectations for the level of writing. If it’s a paperback, I don’t expect very much.  Does anyone else think that way?

A big congratulations to rjdohner and El_Mano on the birth of their beautiful baby girl!

    PS–Does anyone else remember THIS?

  • I think there were around 12,000 people who showed up for the marathon.  16,000 had registered.  That is a lot of pictures.

  • Uh-oh! Your assignment was for 6 items of weirdness!! Aw, MAN! Guess I’ll let it slide this time. ;D Your #3 is similar to mine, but, I was afraid something would get my hand, so it couldn’t stick out off of the bed…… I have gotten quite a bit of relief from that fear, however, through a lot of prayer!

I forgot to answer your question about the sugar substitute. I haven’t gotten to the part where the Sugar Blues author states what he thinks about them, but I try to stay away from them, also. I will rarely have anything with aspartame, but, I will use Splenda, occasionally. However, after reading his description of cane & beet sugar — how it’s actually a chemical that your brain is severely affected by after its refinement–, I no longer think of sugar as a “natural” food that my body knows what to do with. Does that mean I’ve cut it out completely? Noooooooooooooooo!! I’m still having plenty of cravings!!

  • Milky the marvelous milking cow…no I don’t remember it, but it sure made me laugh!!

  • A strange thing about me:  I make up ‘dear abby’ letters in my head, to see if I can come up with a situation that is too strange for a pat answer, yet still believable.

A thing that most people are amazed by:  I am totally at ease using most power tools. drills, routers, saws of all sorts, nail guns.

Hey, I finished rereading P&P again whilst my family were gone. Now I have to try and get H Girl to give it another shot…   ~M.E.

  • I loved Milky!! I asked Santa for her one year for Christmas –  she was at the TOP of my list! — but he never got her for me.  I wonder if that was the year I stopped believing in Santa…….

…… and fairies. ;P (I had to throw that one in!! ha!)  And you said biting my cats was weird? ……o.k., you’re right, it is! ;)

  • Hmmmm………. nope! Can’t say that I do!  But I do believe in angels! :)

  • Milky is incredible.

  • I guess thats why he is call the Hunter!

  • I don’t max out my library card anymore, but when I was in 3rd-7th grade I remember many a library trip where I alone would check out 90+ books at a time. It was fun . . . until Mom made us write each one down (author and title and due date AND whether it was fiction/non fiction/etc) on a sheet of paper BEFORE we read them. That alone would take all afternoon — I suppose she logged it as “handwriting practice.”

    Glad that auditions went well!

PS. Yes, that’s the Laura W. we all know and love.

  • Milky…. wow…. Thaaaaat’s amazing. A little gross…..

  • Can’t say I would really be seduced by Milky, but then I’m not in the target age group either. I guess we’re all pretty weird when you come to think about it. My weirdness is probably that I feel a pressing need to visit as many countries as possible – and one primary goal in life of mine is to visit every continent before I die! I’m beginning to feel a bit twitchy because I haven’t visited a new country in over a year! (I would be planning my next exploratory journey except this pesky phd keeps getting in the way!) When you’re in England, you should definitely take advantage of the cheap flights within Europe. It can be cheaper to fly to Budapest than it is to spend a day in London! What a crazy world.

  • Please send The Hunter over to find my Christopher’s glasses.  I’m beginning to lose hope. :(

Hope your having a great weekend!  We are iced-in.

  • Kudos for not tagging anyone else!    I’m a major rebel about forwarding things.  Anything that tells me to, I don’t– just to show them who’s boss, I guess!!  I got tagged, too, but I haven’t come up with anything weird about me yet.    Ooookay, I’m thinking!

I am completely in awe of someone who can check out 100 books–do you actually keep track of them all?  I have a limit of 6 per person around here (though I occasionally bend it a bit,) and we still have overdue books frequently.  Where do you keep them all?

LOL on the cow–no I don’t remember that one!

  • You max out your library card!?!?  Wow!  I max out my library fine! ha ha

I also have higher expectations on a hard cover book than a soft cover one!

RYC: I am pretty sure we got more sleet than we did actual snow, but the ground is covered in white stuff!

  • Hey!

How are you? Stopped by to say hi and God bless you.

    C.

  • Just stopped to say, “have a great day”!

  • I have a next to nothing baby toenail too!  I tend to obsess about cutting my toenails.  In the summer I paint part of my toe to make it look longer…

  • I was raised in a rural farming community and we all laughed at the ‘Milky” commercial because if we didn’t own a cow a neighbor did and we could milk on of those if we wanted. What was the fun of a plastic cow giving fake milk.

I too have teeny tiny pinky toenails as does my Li’L Bit.

  • Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I am with you on the little toenails being next to nothing. I don’t know why. My kids think that it’s very very strange!

Oh my goodness!! I remember that cow!!!! I showed my daughter and she just rolled her eyes!! I had forgotten about that but once I saw the video, it all came back to me!! I never did have one though.
