  • Sympathy Pains

Tonight as she was getting into the top bunk, Rachel (7) smashed her permanent front tooth and chipped part of it off. Yee-ouch!  My tooth is throbbing in sympathetic pains. I don’t think she knocked it loose, although there was a touch of blood.  Plus, since it isn’t grown in the whole way, I don’t really know how noticeable the chip will be.  I’m still ouching for her.

Tomorrow, I’m hoping to dust of my Xanga-posted resolutions of last year and see how well I did.  Speaking of resolutions, I am much more likely to make them in September, as that really is the start of the year.  As a daughter of two school teachers, the wife of a college professor, and a homeschooling mother, how could I think otherwise?  Anyone else feel as I do?  January is the middle of the year (and an excuse for a good party).

  • I’ve never thought of it that way, Jan as being in the middle, although I’ve always felt it to be that way…

    Give my condolences to Rachel.

  • Passing by each other in the night, or however that phrase goes.  You were commenting on mine as I…never mind.

I’m very sorry I can’t come.  I would love to come and play on your excellently-priced piano (you told me the story last time).  I’d drive if I could, but the load is a bit big on my parents.  4-hours…if only you lived closer!!

  • I have several “beginnings of the year” in my life . . . September, January, and June (though June feels more end-of-the-yearish) to name the ones that immediately come to mind.

Have a wonderful party tomorrow night — wish I could join you and yours and Daniel, but I’ll have to content myself with sending cheers your way.

    Happy 2007!

  • That’s a shame about the tooth… my cousin once chipped his front tooth on the brick of a fireplace. We were all out of our sleeping bags, and ran back to them in fear of being caught (this was like ten years ago, and wayyy passed our bedtime); and anyway, rushing back, he tripped on my brother Stephen and the whole party crashed into the fireplace. We never found the bit that broke off, so poor Chad has a fake bit added onto his front tooth. Tell Rachel that everything will be okay, because Chad turned out to be a fine fellow! Actually, I’ll just tell her the story tomorrow :)

Lord willing, I will leave my place around 1, so I will be in State College around 4ish. Talk to you later,
    Daniel

  • Thank you, Mrs. Sellers.

    Condolences to your daughter.

  • Ouch!  I sympathize with anyone who has any tooth pain!  I always think of Jan. being the beginning of the year, not Sept.  It’s been a long time since I’ve made resolutions though.  I just decide to do or work on something whenever I feel the urge.

  • Mary,

See…great mind think a like :) I just started Twilight Friday evening. And I have New Moon waiting in the wings. They’re my daughter’s books.

God bless you. Have a grand party and a Happy New Year. As for SH, I was thinking about some of the same things.

  • Poor Girl!  No comfort food for tooth trouble.  Comfort book?

For me it is kind of like having two New Years.  I set goals and rearrange things at both of those times.

I think that Mrs. B was loving, she just didn’t show it like you or I would because of her emotional immaturity.  Afterall, look how she instantly hated Darcy, a rich, single man, just because of an insult to the daughter who she didn’t show much affection for.  I think that she just didn’t communicate or relate well to most people, including E and that made her come off as unloving or cruel instead of just socailly clueless.

BTW, I have been meaning to say-LOVE the doll!!!

  • Yes! Who invented “New Year’s Resolutions” anyway?? We’re still having way too many parties (no me, personally, but in general) to make diet plans stick!

ryc: no…. no flu here! Just busy with hubby home this last week! Feel like I fell of the face of xanga! ha!! I’ve finished the book…. can’t comment now…. got online to look up a recipe for Crab Dip for tonight & I still have to call the hostess with our intentions to come!! I’m not late, she just asked us today in church & I said, “A Party!!! We’ll be there!!!”…. but I had to ask hubby first!

Hope you had a fabulous Christmas!! And have a….. HILARIOUS New Year!!! (wanted to give you a unique greeting!! :D ) Amy

  • Happy New Year! Have fun at your party tonight.

  • ryc:  Amen to the thanks!  Same here! As for the rest, aww, you shouldn’t have.

  • Sorry to hear about the tooth. Sounds unpleasant.

I have never made new year’s resolutions. The word resolution always makes me think of the UN, which of course makes it sound distasteful.

  • happy new year!  (and yes, January feels like the middle of the year and not the beginning)

i have a list of things i wanted to see come true in 2006 posted on xanga a year ago.  i think i will re-post it and see how many of them actually occured….  lol

my resolutions are always the same.  (what does that mean?  lol)
