Greatest Show on Earth
Look at the amazing talents in my family! In the right-hand ring, we have The Hunter and his ferocious feline, Max. (Unfortunately, non-blurry photography isn’t a skill rampant in the household.)
In the outdoor arena, see the Synchronized Flip Sisters! Watch them cartwheel, watch them cavort! Watch them perform all the time, even when they have math to do.
In the center ring,
however, we have the Amazing Taxi Mother! Tonight, watch her as she scurries about, delivering people to various places. Watch her purchase Domino’s pizza on the run and serve it at the church
(for lack of a better place to crash and eat and since she is weary of eating in the
car (eh, GhostFroggy?)) Watch her head to youth group and pretend to be a
responsible adult and chaperone and encourage. But wait! The act isn’t over! There’s more running about to deliver
and pick up people, hopefully arriving home at around 11:00. See her get four point five hours of sleep and wake herself and her daughter to get ready for a cheer competition. “Everybody be at the Olive
Garden parking lot at 5:30 a.m. so we can make it to Harrisburg by
7:30!”I’ve never really liked the circus.
Is anybody interested in a Pride and Prejudice group reading? Er,
maybe I mean a book discussion which goes on for a few weeks (month?)
about P&P.

Thak you for the prayers! Joy is 5 months old and she is the firstborne. -Faith
ha! if it isn`t D-lux, icinged, pink-an-white animal crackers, it`s double stuffed oh-that-is-just-way-to-great oreos! I must say, Mrs. S, riding in your car is the most delicious way to pass the time!
oh, and those are some skills you and your family has!
*have…..you have….
*blushes in the presence of an eglish major*
Okay, about P & P — in now or after the holidays? And (blush) does it matter if you’ve never read the book before? I’ve owned it for years if that counts.
This does sound like the greatest show on earth! Where can I get tickets?
I might be interested in the group reading. Keep me informed.
A P&P discussion on-line?
If you want to take IST/Programming-related courses, I know that there are some excellent computer courses at State High. And if Nathan wants, he can even take some of the early IST classes at PSU! (Of course, this second choice costs $$$). There are probably some good homeschooling curricula by now regarding this stuff, but if he’s really driven, he could always just teach hisself via “learn *some computer language* in 21 days.” Anything goes! And there are oodles of online tutorials for just about anything you could imagine.
So, in reply to the comment you left on my blog, I would say that he should definitely look into classes at the high school firstly (’cause it’s free).
I wondered if you were going to wonder about the code — FM = Future Man, so FM#1 is our oldest. DP = Dear Princess. We only have one of those so far, so there’s no number after her designation. Hope to get another one soon but we don’t know if the new one (or two) will be older or younger so I don’t know what her number is. And for those of you who read this blog and have no idea who I am, all of our children are adopted — some as babies, some as older children, all out of the foster care system here in the States.
Along these lines, we are waiting for a job offer back in Texas (where we’ve had an easier time with the state bureaucracy) and may move in December, so I’d be more interested in P & P in January but if you get a group together, by all means, go ahead and I may still join you.
Please let me know if you do a P&P book discussion. There are two VERY interested ladies in my life who would both enjoy it. I have subscribed to your site so I can stay informed….
P&P sounds like fun! Let me know the particulars.
Ahh….the travels of a taxi-mom. When you can get in your car and identify the smell of the previous fast-food drive-by…
(If one of those little minced onions from Sonic ever get lost under the seat, it’s not pretty!)
“Where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns. Send in the clowns.” *grins* Oh how I miss those days! *grins* Actually, I never had anyone in cheer but I did the early morning deliveries for other events. I might get some more chances to do that in a few years. I used to carry catalogs with me because it was the only place I could look at them, while I was waiting at soccer practice. I tell this to all chauffeur/taxi-moms: You should get some language learning tapes. I hate to think of all the hours I could have been learning a language and didn’t. It was kind of poignant when Quintus was about to turn 16 and get his license. He had to get to Jazz choir by seven o’clock every morning. It was the best opportunity I had to get him alone and talk with him, even though we were both not very talky that early in the morning. I knew I was going to miss those times.

Oops, the computer was sticking and I pressed the submit button twice, thinking it hadn’t submitted the first time. I came back to say I’d love to be in a Pride and Prejudice group reading? Did you mean on xanga? I’ve never been in a book group before.
What a nimble group of people in your home! Impressive.
I’d love a P&P discussion. My problem is I find I cannot read Jane Austen slowly. Even on the second reading, I was consumed with reading P&P. Once I was very close to the end of Persuasion, and went to bed. But I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so I went into the bathroom at 1:00 a.m. (so as not to disturb my dh) and finished reading it.
It’s also not good for me to read Austen during the school year. I’m prone to ignore the children’s schooling. I’m sure the children really want me to join the discussion!
Hi, coming out of my lurking stage to say I would love to be a part of the P&P discussion if it’s done online. I love that book, and have read it so many times.
I’m still not sure I will be able to visit on the 1st of December… but it wouldn’t be my whole group (that would be a degree of caos I would never wish upon anyone), just me. So if I do come please don’t feel obligated at all (in any way!) to primp your house on my account. Okay, that’s all for now; hopefully I will write again with more information once I discuss this with my father (the owner of the cars: such power).

Count me in on the P&P discussion!
Yay for VAN-SCHOOLING Moms, a club to which I also belong. I will wave to you from the road!! Yes, we surely do keep the fast-food restaurants in business, do we not?
I would like to join the P&P discussion. I, like Rehad Fem, have owned P&P for along time but never read it. Oh, if my parents had only directed my voracious reading habit I had in my school days.
Boy you sure have talented people in your family!! I’ve never been able to master a cartwheel.
