Recumbent Incumbent
Hello, dear friends, and thank you to those of you who pray for me. I’m in need of prayers right now, and I appreciate every one of them! Also, if you could pray for Thile who will have a c-section on Tuesday the 7th for her second baby, I know she and I and all who love her would be thankful.
Speaking of Tuesday, is anyone else getting five or so phone calls a day about the election? “Hello, I’m Scott Conklin, and I don’t owe money to anybody. (pause) My opponent has been sending out false letters…” That call was my favorite one today. I’ll be glad to have it all over but the counting. Don’t forget to go and vote tomorrow, even if you’d rather write in the neighbor’s cat as the candidate instead of one of the posturing, promise-making people who have been prolifically profaning the phone.
TGD mentioned that he’d love to be getting some exercise, but when and where? He enjoyed an exercise bike, but the hand-me-down we had was falling apart and actually painful, and we had given it to Goodwill or the trash man (I forget). So, on Sunday, we went to Sears and got a recumbent exercise bike. David put it together for us, and it has been in use almost the whole day. Children sat still and read and did school work while riding. I watched TheTwelve Dancing Princesses tonight with the kids while pedaling for 30 minutes (and 200 calories). But, TGD has not been on it yet! It’s only been a day, and he’s not been home very much since he had an evening meeting.
How many of you have an exercise thing in your homes, and do you use it? What is your favorite exercise?

We’ll be praying.
No exercise thing for us…yet! We were just talking tonight about getting a jump rope.
Praying as always, my wonderful teacher!
I personally do Pilates . . . it’s fun and reminds me that I’m older than I think.
Praying too. I love to walk, but lately my formerly broken ankle is acting up. I think I’d like to try folk dancing…There’s a club not far.
AU has an awesome recreation facility (I should know… I work there!), so I have lately been trying to get there a couple times a week. I walk/run the track, work my calves with the bike things, and life weights with those cool new-fangled machine things that keep you from straining yourself and make it safer to strengthen your muscles!
I love it! But oooh am I sore….
I hope you feel better soon!
Ultimate Frisbee is my favorite form of exercise… it involves running, but it’s so fun that you don’t think about how much running you’re doing until afterwards. Or until the next morning.
We have many pieces of exercise equipment…….treadmill, stair stepper, bicycle, ab lounge……..I don’t think any of them have been used in recent months! Oh well………..I think my favorite exercise is going for ice cream :)
I own a nordic track. I get exercise each time I go over and hang some laundry on it. For real exercise, I head on over to my neighborhood Y and take part in water aerobics. It’s fun and they heat the outdoor pool. Here on the gulf coast, it’s possible to swim outside all year round. When I want serious punishment, er….exercise, I head inside to the gym and hop on the elliptical trainer. I may hop on, but I crawl off!
It’s probably a good that my voter registration change was done under the 30 day before next election deadline. I might vote for any one who I never heard of, like that would be possible. I had someone call and ask for one of my internet aliases. I told them I would never vote for someone sneaky enough to raid the internet for names to call. Of course, I did not say this in such a nice way.
Your brother was a nice set up for weight lifting and a treadmill. He was using it faithfully. Since the move, it has not made it out of the garage to be assembled. I will take a day to set it back up. I will loose part of my dressing room to it. yeah!
About Thankgiving….what time frame would you suggest?
We got one of those “false letters” it was one of the most amusing, yet sad things I have read in a while. We have a treadmill that Nick and I both used 6 days a week for about 8 months. It has not been used as regularly as it should be for the past month or so. Thanks for the guilt trip.
Will be praying! Let us know how the c-section goes.
Done voting with 4 little girls in tow! Always fun to talk to people there.
We have a mini-trampoline thing in the rafters that I keep telling my husband, “When we build our addition, I’ll use it!!” (right now, the only room I could use it has a low ceiling!.. bonk!). And we have a “spacesaver” treadmill (yeah, right! it’s still big and bulky and takes up a ton of space!) that is used about once every 3-5 months. I have a Curves membership that I just started back using, but every time I’ve “back-slidden” for a couple months, I come back a pound and several inches less than when I was there last! ….NOT a good motivation to keep going!!
Praying, voted, and have an exercise bike that doesn’t get used, have a balance ball that I just love but had to deflate a couple months ago during some home improvements that hasn’t been pumped back up, and until I read a comment I forgot we have a mini trampoline so you know it isn’t being used.
